Re: Bad first impression of BTC-e
by
greyscale
on 21/11/2013, 06:45:42 UTC
As a long time user of BTC-e i can tell you that normally BTC-e will require ID and utility bill only where you have attempted to deposit or withdraw using non cryptocurrency. If all you have done is deposited cryptocurrency, traded, then attempted to withdraw cryptocurrency they should not need these documents. If they start requiring ID before allowing withdrawals of bitcoin this would be a MAJOR change that they should warn their customers about in advance.

If what you're saying is true, I'm sure it would come as a shock to many BTC-e users. I think the more likely explanation is that BTC-e support is saying they need your ID to let you bypass the 3 day hold on withdrawals for new accounts. You should still be able to withdraw without providing ID if you simply wait the 3 days.

Whatever happens, please let us know how this matter gets resolved.

The End of Alt Coins
by
greyscale
on 16/10/2013, 05:36:35 UTC
I am sad to say that we are now entering the endtimes for alt coins. Nobody wanted alt coins to succeed more than me, but it has now become clear that they are nothing more than a failed experiment. Alt coins are crashing across the board, everything from litecoin (down 7.92%), namecoin (down 17.2%), peepeecoin (down 12.83%), novascamcoin (down 4.17%), feathercoin (down 10.79%), primecoin (down 25.31%), and terracoin (down 24.32%). These figures are REAL figures pulled from coinmarketcap.com.

This post is a public service announcement designed to help those of you still clutching your worthless alt coins to sell them for bitcoin ASAP and save yourself a lot of heartache. Just get rid of them, close this useless altcoin subsection, and go buy some BFL asics if you really want to mine something.

lol at poll results. I think people say 20+ because they want it to be 20+ not because they think it will actually be 20+

Give them a bit more time before scammer tag. Although i would be starting to get a  bit worried if i had bought one of these.

If they don't get the chips by Jan 9, then they still will take at least 2 weeks or so to assemble, and then another week to ship. So I reckon the earliest people will see them is start of February, and that's if there's no more delays - which i doubt. More likely it will be mid February or March.

If you sent the coins straight to silk road, I suspect they could just be moving your coins around internally, but will still credit your account as per normal.

silk road wallet can take longer to show coins than blockchain.info wallet. Nothing unusual about that.

Wonder how long this slide will continue, before the new FPGAs and ASICs start to outweigh the leaving GPU miners.

ah to have been one of the first miners. I envy you guys. Although the really smart ones would have been those who just bought up all the bitcoins for pennies that you guys mined.

I don't think the answer to the OP's questions will come from this thread. I think its something you gotta figure out for yourself. This is a very bad place to come to for advice about women lol.

Yes good move, perhaps it will serve to prevent dodgy dealers or at least tax them
