ill probably have to start with something a little less ambitious than what was seen in the screenshots. im unable to find any machinists who are willing to take on my job at this time Cry
doesn't matter if it's not like in the screenshots, it's the project we love Smiley
Do you have any news?

Are you on nxtforum.org too (with this project)?

Final draft. What do you guys think? I'm pretty sure this is what the bars are going to look like.

It looks very nice! When do you think you will produce the first bars?

For details left unexplained, PiNX can’t lead this project.

In the end, all I have given you is a vision.  It is up to community to make that vision a reality.

Thanks! I am reluctant about the overclocking, but I run it with -856xmx ...

What does -856xmx do?

It is the memory available to the jvm, I quoted it wrong:

ps -ax
 2040 ?        SNl   61:45 /usr/bin/java -Xms128m -Xmx856m -jar start.jar STOP.PORT=7873 STOP.KEY=0815

-Xms128m is the minimum that is reserved at the start, and -Xmx856m is the maximum it can have, in megabytes. I often had crashes with a maximum smaller 450MB, but with giving it almost all the memory, it runs quite good.

Except that dl'ing the whole blockcahin is quite some venture.
i use -Xms320m -Xmx480m
how can you give it 856m? Don't you have a pi with 512MB? Or are you using swap? Or an other device?

Have you overclocked your Raspi?
No, i don't know if i will do that, i don't have anything to cool it (no heat sink...) and my pi is in an ordinary plastic-case.

du says: 257480 for current nxt_db folder
What? Mine is 111M only.

Err:
Code:
pi@raspberrypi ~/nxt $ du -h nxt_db/
252M nxt_db/

Wrong usage of du?
I have:
Code:
pi@rpi ~/nxt $ du -h nxt_db/
246M nxt_db/
But i always copied the folder from one version to the next... maybe that's why?

If too slow for Raspberries, do whichever is faster, upgrade or download from scratch.

Did I manage to improve the Raspberry performance with the last release?
copying the db from the old version is definitely faster, because my Raspberry takes a long time to download the whole blockchain (maybe 1h? haven't really watched at the time precisely).

Scanning the blockchain now takes about 9 minutes on my Raspberry.
No issues at the moment with my Pi Smiley even unlocking my account via the GUI is fast now! Thanks Jean-Luc!

@JL
Code:
[2014-02-14 18:23:55.255] Database is at level 13
[2014-02-14 18:23:55.267] DEBUG: Will apply sql:
ALTER TABLE block DROP COLUMN IF EXISTS index
[2014-02-14 18:26:26.984] DEBUG: Will apply sql:
ALTER TABLE transaction DROP COLUMN IF EXISTS index
[2014-02-14 18:33:32.807] Updated database is at level 15

Didn't the additional indexes help?

Question: Is it possible to re-use the nxt_db directory when upgrading from 0.7.4 to 0.7.5  without downloading the whole blockchain again?

Raspis do have a tough time doing that, crashes 1-3 each time, must be restarted, takes severla hours in total...
I don't have problems downloading the whole blockchain with my RPi (not overclocked), no crashes, no restarts. It takes hours... hmm yes maybe 1-2 hours, but you don't have to do that on every update. The last time i did was when i switched to 0.7.2. From then i always copied the db to my new nxt-folder.

No, no. Smiley It does not. Just overclock it at medium level. Works like a charm for me.

And yes, you can re-use the db of 0.7.4.

In fact the nxt.log above shows the migration from 0.7.4 to 0.7.5.
I didn't overclock mine. To what CPU-rate did you overclock it? Do you use some kind of cooling? My RPi is just in an ordinary plastic-case, no cooling at all...

Hi ErosLp, you can use the faucet at http://nxtra.org/faucet to get your first Nxt
or take a look at http://mynxt.org/#nxt
or use exchanges to buy some Nxt: http://mynxt.org/#exchanges

Hey Jean-Luc... no more database issues with 0.7.2!!!    Grin
Maybe there is hope for the raspberry owners after all... let's see what they report.
It's usable since 0.7.2 on Raspberry Pi:
https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,1277.msg37003.html#msg37003

But i still have some problems unlocking my account with many transactions, if i unlock one with just 2 transactions it works fine...

The 2nd part of BCNext's plan - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=458036.0
Advocating paragraph: "Transparency extended to absolute leads to inability to cheat thus removing necessity to think if someone should trust another one.", I think you should add the option to cancel a transaction, "even at the cost of losing the fee!"

If an option is implemented where transactions can be reversed, I myself and about 90% of all investors/enthusiasts would leave the ship.

This might be the most retarded idea of the century. Props
This idea could save many users being hacked and emptied.  Sad

1) send 1000 NXT and 2 fee
2) 800 before confirmation, canceled.
3) you back to 1000, but the 2 of fee are ongoing and will be forged.

The system is not lost! everyone happy! Smiley
Use escrow.
Yes, use escrow, there will be services for that if needed.

And if it's only because of being hacked, than i think that this won't help very much. You will have more serious problems when being hacked. What if you can't access yout wallet for a week and get hacked? ...

MtGox: Bitcoin Transaction Malleability bug

https://www.mtgox.com/press_release_20140210.html

BTC Crash!

"Note that this will also affect any other crypto-currency using the same transaction scheme as Bitcoin."

NXT not affected!!

Yeah, great and stuff, but what do people use to buy NXT? Oh....wait.... that's Bitcoin  Roll Eyes
(and the happy few use CNY)
what we should do is: check if anything like that could be possible in Nxt, not just laugh at Bitcoin...

... Right now is not quite the right time, but when nexern releases his client (along with the AE), we should have a very simple to install client as well as be able to show off the power of decentralized exchanges. ...
btw. anyone knows the status of nexerns client?

edit: ok found some info about it:
correct, this is not a problem for new users or users without unicode keyphrases but don't know how many e.g. chinese users we have now using chinese symbols as keyphrase.
anyway, i am finishing apphub now. it was already planed to include unicode into hive and apphub is part of this.

Is it possible to postpone release a little so other AE client devs catch u?

it's already postponed because i need a little more time to test AE and include the DNA i mentioned before
but since i intend to start 1. march with hive my intension is to realease apphub latest end month, better
a week earlier.

Customers who wrote that interested stakeholders are?
So why people sent their nxt for you?

Check the google spreadsheet on the first post.
I saw. What's the difference between those who sent money and those who are interested just wrote?

No guarantee as to how much NEX will be allocated for the latter.
So all users will receive their portion of the nex. And those who just wrote that interested and those who sent you nxt. But those who exchanged nxt for nex will have more?
there goes the "fair distribution" .... :/
