Ode to Bitcoin
by
griffga
on 10/10/2014, 16:50:17 UTC
"Oh thou Bitcoin; bravest of coins.
You have withstood the test and been found worthy.
Standing bloody and beaten, your face is scarred from months in the arena.
Yet, still you stand. Yet, still you fight.
The one of legend came to you. Before you he beared his razor teeth.
The bear whale came, and your sword found its mark.
Now you are joined by your brother of the Lite who stands with you.
Friends together; brothers reunited. Now you are ready, now it is time.
The winds howl in the distance; the hurricane is coming.
Now it is time to fly."

Re: Where do you keep your fiat?
by
griffga
on 16/09/2014, 19:42:06 UTC
I still keep some in my bank and some I have transferred to bitcoin. I would say it's about 50/50 at the moment for me. I would like to make all my fiat bitcoin but as of right now I am being more careful.
Right now you should buy (I would if I had cash)
You should be careful when the bubble is about to pop.

Already positioned, but thanks for letting me know. Smiley Yes, a certain percentage split is a good idea. I think I just wasn't sure if people were seriously just going all out and "living the dream" by converting and holding everything as Bitcoin. In the past, I have sold some Bitcoins, but that practice has come to an end as I believe this is just the beginning of something that could change the financial world. I just wanted to get an idea of how everyone else generally felt about Bitcoin and how you managed your funds during long term market corrections. I know someone asked what I meant about Bitcoin friendly banks. I guess no bank would want to be friendly to something that could put them out of business, lol. I think I was thinking of if any banks would outright try to report someone who was making Bitcoin transactions as committing some crime for money transmission.

Where do you keep your fiat?
by
griffga
on 16/09/2014, 18:46:15 UTC
Hey Everyone,

This post is a question to members of the community about where do you all keep your fiat? Say you make a lot of money on some Bitcoin trades. Do you just hold it all as Bitcoin, even through market corrections, or do you convert to fiat and keep it somewhere for those corrective phases of the market. Just curious if people keep their converted btc to fiat in banks, exchanges, where? If in banks, are certain countries and banks more Bitcoin friendly than others?

OK so ive resynced and added the privkey, now its saying i received the 430k sys on the 17th, and apparently sent it to some random address on the 18th. showing i have not sent that amount anywhere
Quote
Share your address please, I will try to check the blockchain.

my address is: SMLgk2psiTCPoZLkrVaijPBTpp1wB91DjB

the address they have been sent to is:  SMQeSQWyCyH6UPnzxzXTHUEKF4Gfd6oqzY

i tried to send 100sys, thats all, the rest was untouched.

I'm having a similar issue. I sent half of my Sys to an exchange and left the other half in my wallet. Now the client says I don't have any coins in the wallet and half of my coins were sent to an address that I don't recognize. I've never had this issue with any other wallet. Is there a dev here we can contact?

I wish somebody would post a few of these kinds of pictures of some Asian gals who are 80 or 90 years old... without makeup (or clothes?). That way we could see that this is all in vain.

Re: Claymore CryptoNote GPU Miner v6.1

Anyone have an issue with certain cards causing an OpenCL error and crashing the miner? I've got 4 rigs and in 1 of the rigs, one gpu constantly crashes the miner but works fine in sgminer or other miner programs. I've tried using -li 1 and -a 2 as well as reducing the gpu max allocation percentage but nothing seems to be helping. Anyone know of any other compatibility settings for the miner? I'm using 16gb virtual swap file. Cards are Gigabyte 7950's on F43 BIOS at 1.09 volts.

Re: Step-by Step to start Bitcoin Mining
by

If you want to mine Bitcoin or Litecoin based coins, try to get some dedicated ASIC hardware. If you would be more willing to take risk and speculate, you can put together a GPU mining setup and mine alt coins. However, be advised that it is a lot more work to setup, install, troubleshoot, and maintain and bunch of GPU rigs than to just get an ASIC.

I updated the signature yesterday, but the payment was not received? Is there a time in advance that the signature must be updated before payment? For example, 24 hours or so?

Re: Is mining even profitable anymore?
by

Like people have said before, if you're willing to take a risk and mine in order to hold for future value, you can make a profit. However, that is a lot of what ifs. I have 4 mining rigs right now, but I only still run them because I have free electricity and I also bought them back in 2013 and already made roi on them. Would I go out and drop $7k on mining equipment again right now if they weren't already paid off? Hell no, I would just take that money and buy coins directly.

Unfortunately there are so many scams out there. Sad I had a BFL preorder a long time ago and I was one of the lucky ones who actually was able to get a refund.

It is sad to see how far the interest on general savings accounts has slipped. In 2004 I had a savings account at 6% interest. Now its more like .6% lol
