I honestly think presale is not very good for a project, because you are giving out a large amount of value of token out. We Token should hold integrity.

Re: Problem with XRP to ETH conversion in COINPAYMENTS using SHAPESHIFT
by
gringoprivelege
on 11/06/2017, 19:35:57 UTC
Hi, I'm new and I have just started in the cryptocurrency world. I hope this thread goes here, if not please move it to where it should be.

I have a wallet in coinpayments.net. I converted 17 XRP to ETH using the site, which uses ShapeShift (https://etherscan.io/tx/0x7e07c18cec5c44a70fd0e79542dd68de029115bdb6366c0615ddab648fd01698)

As people of customer support from ShapeShift have told me, my transaction's exchange rate was 1 XRP = 0.00172507 ETH. However, in Coinpayments it says it's only 1 XRP = 0,001136291 ETH (880.05657211 XRP/ETH as they put it). Here's a pic: http://i.imgur.com/Y5XYHd1.png

So I've should have received 0,02932619 ETH (minus 0.00042 ETH on fees) but instead I only received 0.01931694 ETH. I know this are ridiculous amounts of money but I'm trying things before investing to see how it goes and learn from errors.

My previous transaction in Coinpayments was with changelly.com and I had zero problems.

How do you explain that 1 XRP = 0,001136291 ETH? I lost 34% of ETH in that transaction.
Have you tried contacting their support about this error? Interested in how they would handle something like this

Re: Why is Dogecoin price %12 higher on BTC38 than Poloniex for the past 2 days
by

Anyone tried buying cheap on poloniex and selling high on BTC38?Huh

No, dont be greedy by seeing high price of Doge at BTC38. That site is a scam and you wont be able to withdraw the coins if you deposit them there.
some people dont  know this and instead of getting profit from Dogecoins , they end up losing all the coins at BTC38.

Yeah, usually if an unknown exchange is listing the price too high, its usually a scam and a blockhole to send ur coins to

Re: My Ether Wallet
by
gringoprivelege
on 11/06/2017, 19:31:30 UTC
I have created a wallet on MEW (https://www.myetherwallet.com/) and I have a number of questions / clarification needed:

1) To my understanding, this is not an online wallet: the website simply generate a wallet address, and gives me the public and private keys, which I can then safely store offline or on a piece of paper, if I wish so, right?

2) Once I have the address generate at 1) above, I can then send ETH and/or a number of ETH tokens to this address, right?

3) the blockchain knows that this address has received this amount of ETH and that amount of tokens. If I'm in control of the private key, then I can use my ETH and/or token for whatever I please: transfer them to another user, another wallet, an exchange etc ... Correct?

4) Even though I store on my address different tokens and/or ETH, I only need one private key right? I.e. once I know the address and my private key that unlocks my wallet with all the content which I can then use as I prefer.

Thanks for helping to understand!
Cheers,
Jay
Yes you are right and the other service of ethereum wallet that simple and easy be used is jaxx.io, you can import the private key of ethereum in it, it support on mobile devices too, so you can use your coins in your hand. Also many altcoins be supported by jaxx.io ethereum, bitcoins, litecoin and other.

I really find the mobile support convenient. I Recommend myetherwallet

Re: Shapeshift.io on ethereum ?!
by

Ok so apparently this is it folks. Public ethereum as expected, no one had any doubts right ?

So, apparently the shapeshift.io  built world's first trustless asset portofolio platform on public ethereum. It's still beta.

https://blog.prism.exchange/blog/introducing-prism-the-worlds-first-trustless-asset-portfolio-platform/

It's not Trustless. IMO the way they are marketing this is dishonest and scammy.
https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@pawnuts/why-shapeshift-s-prism-is-a-scam

"trustless" scammers. can't trust them at tall. ICOs right now need to get regulated no joke. I swear all of them are scams. they take the funds and run away afterwards

Just for the record, this means ethereum contracts ( wallets ) can hold any token shapeshift supports. Like, you can hold bitcoin in your ethereum wallet by using prism. If you buy a token, say dash, you won't have to use a dash wallet aswell, or worse, hold it on exchanges.

You know the old bitcoin maximalist saying "one blockchain dominates them all. I think we can adapt it and say "ethereum wallet dominates them all.

Actually, this does not mean that at all. Say you make a "prism" of 1BTC. Shapeshift will then charge you a 2.5% fee and then a 1% fee every month (close to 12% annually) to "manage it." what happens behind the scenes is Shapeshift buys 1BTC and holds it. When you close your fund they convert it into ETH (using accounting techniques, not blockchain transactions) and send the ETH to you.

The counterparty risk they don't tell you about is if shapeshift goes bankrupt you can't redeem your investment.

There are more issues with this, find out more- https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@pawnuts/why-shapeshift-s-prism-is-a-scam

Thats interesting, its the first time Ive read that anywhere. I read something elluding to the opposite actually. Ive seen no evidence that shapeshift does anything behind the scenes to buy / sell the altcoins you specify in your prism smart contract. All Ive seen is they are specifically "tokens" in  a smart contract which use ETH as the stake against the performance of those altcoins. Meaning, its just a glorified, high fee betting system using ETH as the stake. Can you point me to where something says they actually "trade coins on the backened"?

Pretty much. they dont trade anything, you're just buying into a worthless smart contract thats been marketed and hyped up into seeming like a legit investment
