What's up with the front page being stuck on the certain numbers? Also blackjack freezing up is odd!

Is this a database issue? Is the database already filled up and slow?

Is it fair to say PRC dice is faster in the thread title??

PD averages around 60ms, it seems to "warm up" to constant betting to and drops from 300-200ms to 60ms.

While PRC dice takes on average a 333 ms, triple that of the "instant" threshold.

Interesting information what with Apple users saying that their computers are virus / malware free with this discovery you have to be careful whatever os your using... Feel for you 100btc is a lot to go missing  Shocked

All I can say is there is no issue with the security of primedice, I'm hoping OP will consider editing his post within the next few days with the full story of what happened. I'm not going to share what happened without permission but once he explains you will understand why I've chosen not to.

There are users who choose to store hundreds of coins on their account at one time and have had zero issues, if you have any fear just enable 2FA and as long as your PC is secure you should be good.

Hi, OP here.
Stunna has been incredibly helpful in the situation so far. The current theory is that a thief must have compromised my account by brute-forcing my weak password. Since there would be no way for anyone on the outside to know exactly when I had been online at PD (since I did not make any bets or make my presence known in the chatroom on the day of the theft), they must have been monitoring the blockchain for large deposits from my personal wallet to my PD address somehow. Possibly through the use of some script? I have no clue...  Sad

I have to hand it to the thief for having enough technical know-how and impeccable timing to pull off the withdrawal in the incredibly small (literally 2 minute) window between confirmation and my first attempted bet.

If anyone out there has seen this type of theft before, PLEASE LET US KNOW any details you have, as this is the first time I have seen anything like it.

Now that 2FA is available, hopefully this will be the last time.

Thanks,
DiceMiner

Don't mean to prod, but you haven't answer my question from before about what greasemonkey scripts you are running. The "scripts" you named were browser plugins, not actual scripts that you paste into greasemonkey and run.

Anybody, I don't want to mess around with the API and get my IP blocked.

Question about the api for primedice. This is listed on the top of https://primedice.com/api

"The primedice API provides low-level access to functions available on the website. Authentication is done by adding a paramter to the url. Here is an example of an authenticated URL query:
https://api.primedice.com/api/users/1?access_token=abc123

The access token can be found on login or register."

I can't find the access token on any page or am I missing it somewhere.

Looking to make a PHP curl script.

This token can be found by right clicking and inspecting element to open up the dev console, clicking on the resources tab, going to local storage on the list, and opening https://primedice.com. It is then the value next to the word token.

We use mySQL & mongo for db (satoshibet)

That's an odd combo, are you using mongo to cache numbers? (if you don't mind me asking)

Most sites use Node.js for the backend. Mainly because it's the easiest (not always the best though) way to built a real time site handling a nice amount of users.

But my guess is we'll be seeing a lot more Go in the coming years. Built a small dice project in that handling 10.000 rolls in about 500ms.

Just Dice was also built in Node.js + MySQL by the way.

Just-Dice uses redis as well as MySQL.

Did you store all the J-D bets on the MySQL DB, I've been trying to figure out a cool way to store crazy amounts of bets (think tens of terrabytes) without having the weirdest SQL database on earth.

Thank U Stunna for dropping by. So, does it mean that till PD2 a few months ago PHP-PostgreSQL was doing fine in handling traffic ? I'm asking this because elsewhere another Dice site owner is moving from PHP to Java for better performance. Is PHP less efficient in handling concurrency just because it does not support threading like Java ? Then, how come FaceBook is running primarily on PHP ?

It's not that PHP or mySQL is necessarily bad, it can handle traffic just fine under the right conditions.Facebook and PHP can kinda be seen as a mistake from their end, they've put crazy amounts of money of compiling it to C++ to avoid the pitfalls of PHP. Node.js offers interesting and easy handling of async. PHP should have no effect on profit...

As far as the Greasemonkey scripts, I run:
  - Adblock Plus
  - Stylish
  - Dailymotion (re-add playlists)
  - the usual Quicktime, Shockwave, Java, Google Earth

Hope this helps. Ok it is late.

Those are not greasemonkey scripts, Greasemonkey is an addon that lets you run any arbitrary javascript code to modify or change websites for personal benefit. Say you wanted to automatically fill a field with your name, hit a button every second, or run requests that bypass CSRF-protection on a withdraw API command.

Don't mean to sound like a jerk, are you completely sure you didn't download and install any scripts and are lying to us about it? Your lack of knowledge on Greasemonkey makes me wonder why you even have it installed.

I've noticed you've got greasemonkey installed on your browser. That can be used to run harmful Javascript. Are you 100%, checked your scripts, sure that it is not running an malicious scripts? Malware scan will not catch scripts that are running in greasemonkey that steal a balance.

If he didn't have access to production/database servers, but could upload code himself unchecked, what makes you guys think he wouldn't add any query or even a URL that reveals the auth details or seeds for himself?

They've addressed this before.

He couldn't upload code himself. They uploaded his code for him without properly testing it. When they found out that his code was malicious they backed out his change.

While the code was in place he could potentially have grabbed a server seed, but apparently he randomized after his change was backed out, meaning he no longer had a way of reading his seeds.

I think that's how it goes, anyway.

We cannot assume this is the case, he may have randomized his own seed, but we're ignoring the true danger here. He may know the seeds to many whales or to even other accounts he has that DB doesn't know about. And the seed isn't the only vector here for such a disastrous situation.

Re: OFFICIAL DICEBITCO.IN ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT THE SKIPPED NONCES INCIDENT
by
grux
on 20/09/2014, 18:27:05 UTC
In around 24hrs past the incident, the bankroll shrinked from 7500 coins to ~1700. Then,we had one user, mateo, which was hitting the bankroll non stop for almost 12hrs more, eating almost 600 BTC of profit (site was ~288 BTC profit prior to the 7th of September and around -320 BTC when mateo stopped playing).. Lot of speculation exists as well around that user, so please allow me to elaborate. User mateo was registered on 2014-08-06 18:22:05 and before the incident of 7th of September was -33 BTC in total. The date he registered the other developer was not hired yet, so it is impossible that it was him. The new hire had no access to the database (or to the production server) which means that it is impossible for him to know other users’ seeds. On top of that, mateo did randomize his rolls before he goes on with his crazy streak (my guess would be to verify if he got affected by the malicious code - btw he was not affected). Given all those facts there is 0% chance it could be someone that knew the server seed and played against it. When he asked for a withdrawal when done, we are left astonished with that run (like we didn’t have enough shit already to deal with). We postponed his withdrawal for several hours. We went through his rolls again and again, we searched every possible way of ”cheating”. Everything was legit, so we paid him out.

If he didn't have access to production/database servers, but could upload code himself unchecked, what makes you guys think he wouldn't add any query or even a URL that reveals the auth details or seeds for himself?

I imagine anyone with access and ability to upload unchecked code can do the following:
  • Read out the authentication details used to connect to the database/wallet
  • Run a query to look up seeds
  • Intercept passwords before they are hashed and checked against database
  • Forge tokens/cookies and log into another's account
  • Change/delete entire tables of the database
  • Increase or decrease balances of any user

Why are you guys even assuming that seeds, passwords, and server are safe? Isn't it time for a full system seed and password change?

Are you guys just making up this whole "employee" story? Are you guys this inexperienced?

It's free money, Primedice can choose to do whatever the hell they want, you aren't losing anything. It's not there for you to make money.

Excuse me... no it is not "free money" ... This is money that we are promise to get for SPENDING our own Bitcoin to level up and a lot of hours in the chatroom.

I have lost a lot of Bitcoins trying to level up and other people have lost way more then me.

It's no promise at all, the faucet is there for you to get a sense of how the site flows, not as a "we're gonna pay after you gamble on our site" tool.
