Now that Bitcoin is becoming more mainstream, some people have made some seriously wacky and “out there” purchases. How over-the-top do you think these are? https://t.co/rqOeZTLec4

Re: Hold or Trade?
by

I rarely do trading as it is more risky and more stressful. Holding on the other hand is less stressful and you don't have to watch graphs all day. I'm in it for the long run so it doen't matter if trading is more profitable as long as I still profit in the future.

Re: Why not make the most of your time with other tokens?

Finding good tokens that will pump even at this bear market condition is very hard, almost like predicting the future. You may argue that TA can be used, but for a very volatile market such as alts, it doesn't work quite well compared to traditional market like stocks. Besides, most alts are more down now compared to bitcoin so might as well hodl than do experiments.

Re: Are Blockchain and Crowdfunding the Future of Investing?
by
hachiman13

Perhaps we can find a new way of investing now since these past few months, the crowdfunding via ICOs have significantly lost its charisma to the investors. Though this just takes the case of ICOs, I still believe that blockchain has many applications that we are simply not aware of.

Re: What do you do with bounty earnings?
by

Been a bounty participant for a year now. I've held some coins until now and all I can say is I wish I should have dumped them the moment I got them. All of the projects I believed in are not doing well (even before this bear market) and some actually died off or is sleeping indefinitely. As for the coins I dumped, I invested them in other things outside crypto.

Re: Which qualities will Bitcoin’s successor possess ?
by

Bitcoin is slow and can be considered experimental until now. For its successor to be worth it, it needs to be more scalable, more power efficient, has  faster confirmation time, and of course has limited supply. It also needs to be more anonymous though I think shouldn't be mandatory. At the moment, no coin is capable of doing that.

Re: Don’t just buy a coin 🙈

Many shitcoins have literally died now; most of them are ICOs last year that failed to gain traction for their project and basically faded to limbo. So basically, in a sense, shitcoins are fewer now so it's the investor's fault if they bought into one and lost money. Really though, if someone is buying a coin without research, they can just pick one in the top 10 in cmc, they can never go wrong...

Should have split your savings 50-50, for cypto and for the other half, traditional stocks. Most coins are closely correlated in crypto so even if you say that it is bound to increase long term, the risk is still there--when bitcoin severely drops it doesn't matter how good you diversified your assets into crypto as they'll all drop as well.

Re: Developer,team or community

The most important for me is the team. They are the one who's going to facilitate the growth of the project. If there is a strong team, the trust of the people will follow thus the community will grow too. Bottom line, strong team attracts strong devs and devoted communities.

No matter how prepared a newbie gets, they will always make mistakes. There are things in this market that can't be learned from the books and this includes the gut feelings or the lessons from experiences. But of course, it is never a bad thing to do more research as possible as it minimizes the mistakes that they'll make.

Re: Do you still believe in crypto?
by

I still think that cryptocurrencies are going to be a  big in the future. It is just due to the government's regulation that hinders mass adoption. For the meantime, developers can explore many ways to improve it i.e. tps and scalability while the government decides what the proper steps should be used to deal with crypto.

It is really hard to remain calm if you bought bitcoin at $18k. That will take tremendous mental energy to overcome and of course, it will take a long time until we visit that level again so it goes without saying that it would be stressful.

Re: The future of the market
by
hachiman13
on 26/10/2018, 15:03:42 UTC
I think the bear market will persist--no relatively good news to drive the price up, instead we have dozens of issue like the difficulty bomb next year in Eth which would surely affect the ico market. In retrospect, the price is still above the starting level compared to last year. IMO, it is a good time to consolidate and prepare for the next bull run.

The future of ICOs are bleak because ethereum is having a big problem next year--that is, the difficulty bomb. Of course, as many ICOs are ERC20 based, it is also greatly affected. I think that the market for ICO is already done.

Re: Social Media to Crypto
by
hachiman13
on 24/10/2018, 15:27:07 UTC
1. How does Social Media effect Cryptocurrency?
Its free advert for crypto. Many people use social media and a single crypto ad will bring huge exposure at a less cost and most efficient way. Bounties utilize this. But of course, as fast as social media can help in increasing a project's popularity, that's also how fast a fake/unfavorable news destroys it.

2. How does Cryptocurrency effect Social Media?
There are many ICOs that aim to tokenize social media, one example is tipper. This brings more application for blockchain. I'm not sure though if it has any significant effect to already existing social medias like twitter and facebook.
