Re: [ANN] Bytecent: Peer-to-Peer Rewards Network - Bytecent.com | AQRewards.com

When I first launched Bytecent in 2014, I didn't have a multimillion dollar ICO, we had a market cap of less than $40,000. At that time, some folks tried to spread FUD because we were closed source and we wanted to do things differently. Some didn't like the pace we were growing and wanted things to move much faster. I told everyone to be patient, and over time as the crypto industry grows so will Bytecent.

Some people moved on to the latest and greatest ICOs, while some never lost hope and remained dedicated to Bytecent. Through ups and downs, and dozens of different changes along the way, Bytecent has steadily improved since 2014. Today I am happy to announce for the first time ever Bytecent's market cap reached above 4.7 million. Compared to other coins this might seem like small change, but when you think about starting with a market cap of less than $40,000, and watching it grow to $4,700,000+ within 4 years, I am happy with our steady growth.

This year will be no different, major changes are on the way. Now that we understand what companies are looking for, we are better equipped to offer our solution on a larger scale. We are currently working with Avanquest on two new products, and we have new clients that will go live with our solution sometime this year.

I want to thank everyone for their continued support, and thank you for never losing hope!

Best,
Christopher

Congratulations...

Why did PIVX crash? Because early adopters got paid. This is as it should be.

The volume on the buy side was 80 BTC 3 days ago, now over 200 BTC.

The volume on the sell side was about 8000 BTC, now the about 6900 BTC.

In between the volume on the sell side dropped to about 7000 BTC and the buying started.

That explains everything.

Feature Request:

Decentralized Exchange

PIVX is too good to be raped by bots daily on Bittrex.  The announcement of such a project would change everything overnight.

There appears to be still bugs in the wallet.

1. Installed new wallet and blockchain.

2. Closed the wallet and added "staking=1" to the .conf file.

3. Opened wallet then encrypted the wallet.

---Indefinite hang on the wallet

Maybe should encrypt the wallet before editing the .conf file. Will try again that way.

Feature request

1. Please make a lite wallet

Installed the new 2.2.0 wallet. It is stable and have received stake.

A couple of questions.

1. How long does it take coins to be confirmed and not pending? The wallet shows both actual and pending the same coins.

2. How is a Payment ID obtained and is it necessary to have one?

I have breifly read the white paper. I didn't see explained.

Thanks

Is this coin is still developing by DEV? I found it searching for promising cryptos. DEV if you are here, could you write something about your future plans? In the mean time I will put some hashes on the PYRA pool.

Waiting to hear from you, DEV
Dev, any plans for the near future?

Future plans will include making deals with local online shopping and service sites for adoption of PYRA as payment method also manufacturing a physical coins for local promotions
we have been also planning to cooperate with a local Dev have a plan of a crypto exchange allow Egyptian pounds (EGP) fiat deposit and trading pair (BTC/EGP - PYRA/EGP) as start .

I take it from this that the coin did not originate in Egypt. The exchange approach probably will not catch on. If you are going to make a coin based on Egypt atleast make it benefit Egypt in some demonstrative way. If it has no impact on the Egyptian economy than it is a waste of time and just a marketing ploy and a scheme. Somehow looks like a remake of SunCoin, that looked Egyptian too.

I suggest Proof of Dev.

On the other hand did notice a lot of typo's on the OP.

Development Update

We are now working on 2 quick features to be released soon - 2FA wallet and a decentralized market (beta) within the next week.

A decentralized market is where merchants can sell items through the blockchain instead of having a website setup.

lino0spice on this forum has a lot of items to sell and he would be the only merchant during the Beta phase of our market. Once the testing phase is over, we will expand the market to more merchants.

Can you all suggest some names as to what to call our "decentralized market"?

As I said before Saffroncoin needs a hook. With the amount of coins on the market most will be failures including many good coins. Having a good coin does not ensure success. Saffroncoin has a very good development team so far and a great wallet, but it will take more.

Many people who buy altcoins are looking for an investment. People are not going to spend their money on features unless they bring a return on investment. There is a differnce between gambling and investing.

Saffroncoin needs to take a leap of faith and go for broke with the intention to make the coin a DAC of some sort. This way the coin will be seen as an investment instrument. I think immediate emphasis should be on development sidechain assets that can be purchased and traded as shares and currencies. Each being convertable and divisible with Saffroncoin.

There are many coins and most will fail including some very good ones. I think that the natural evolution will be DAC's with the coin holders also being shareholders in something of value.

All this is being said not withstanding the roadmap which is good in my opinion. This in no way meant to slight talent of the dev team. This is business.

I don't think anyone including the devs will take what you said negative at all.  Sounds like you are offering some sound and thoughtful suggestions to help, not hurt.

Feel kinda ignorant asking this but can you explain more of what you mean in "making the coin a DAC of some sort"?  I am curious and just interested to better understand what you are suggesting.

I am suggesting that almost every coin will fail except those that become an investment instruments. There is always space for creative new companies to emerge. Just as there is Apple and Google there will be new inovated businesses in the future. A DAC is a Decentralized Autonimous Corpration. It will allow startups to have a global garage so to speak. Each participant will be able to share in a decentralized corporation. Saffroncoin has built features to help support this.

By building on a sidechain a DAC could offer shares of assests for sale. No one would have to be in charge. It would be trustless. Trustless because it is a rule based system and the rules cannot be volated. Shares would appreciate in value based on new assets being added and enhanced. Of course shareholders earn dividends.

For example say, SaffronShares sold shares of the DAC which was based on the new decentralized exchange. How many shares could be sold? How many SaffronShares could you buy with one Saffroncoin? This would provide a project that would continue develop for years. A DAC grows just like any other corporation except it is decentralized which makes it better. It can sell stock, aquire assets, create other startups, etc. Most importantly it would stand more independantly from Bitcoin over time. It would be a valuable asset in it's self.

The new wallet is nice. Re-size is perfect. It appears that the (marketcap x totalcoins != valuation). Valuation does not seem correct.

The market cap is not taken for total valuation. The BTC price is taken from Bitstamp and the SFR price from Bittrex. The exchange rates for USD, EUR, INR, CNY are taken from coindesk.
Numerically calculating all that gives the total value in BTC and fiat as displayed in the wallet.

I have to ask then what is the point of the marketcap? And, if it is valid wouldn't it be easier to calculate based on it? The difference is significant.
