Re: The 94% Con by Jon Montroll

hi guys, i am a non-US citizen living outside USA.  today, i received a mail from US dept of justice southern district of new york, which is regarding united states v jon montroll.  the mail stated that i was identified by law enforcement as a victim or potential victim during the investigation of the criminal case.

what should i do next after receiving this mail?

i recalled i had funds on bitfunder and weexchange, as well as ukyo.loan shares.  but i can't provide proofs to the amount of bitcoins there.  does the gov't have a copy on who owns how many bitcoins in bitfunder/weexchange/ukyo.loan?

now, i am interested to know if our funds will be returned to us, and are we going to get the same amount of bitcoin, or will they be paid by using the rate of 94 usd/btc?

while bitcoin is already at it's 10th year since its birth, it's still considered in its early phase.  there would come a day that people will be using cryptocurrencies more than fiat in daily transactions.  and that day, bitcoin will be more valuable than it is today.

Re: Bitfinex seized my withdrawal ???

this unfortunate event has been haunting exchange users not only for bitfinex.  exchange administrators are following strict compliance set by the government they are registered in and also the government the user is from.  a lot of technicalities are involved that's why sometimes it takes longer for transactions to be successful.  one particular issue that can trigger this is the anti-money-laundering act in which governments wants to monitor the movement of funds of large transactions and big-time users.

Re: Best place to sell a little bitcoin
by

I have been away for awhile and was wondering where the best place to sell some bitcoin would be?

Was selling some on coinbase but now they want a copy of my ID and I don't feel comfortable with that.

Is CEX.IO a good place to sell?

Thanks

you can check coinmarketcap for exchanges and their prices of bitcoin.  but i think these exchanges require identity verification before you can do fiat withdrawal.  moreover, they have to ask for your bank information.

the quickest way is to check localbitcoins.com site.  this is a peer-to-peer bitcoin buy and sell platform.  you can see who are selling and buying bitcoins within your local area with their respective prices.

the april fool's day pump definitely helped the bitcoin price up a lot.  although there's no indication as what reason is behind the rise, any rise in price is welcome.  maybe the bull will not come today, but definitely it's not far away.  upon seeing bitcoin price passed the 5k usd mark on some exchanges, i thought it's the bulls coming.  the price may decrease after the big pump, but by not much.

Now that Facebook has announced that they will come out with their own cryptocurrency, which platform do you reckon will be next? I’ve heard rumours that it could be twitter.

yes, i think twitter will eventually issue its own crypto, only after successful usage of other social media cryptos.  but what i think will be the next big thing coming are the gov't and bank issued cryptos that will be fiat-pegged, much like tether, but on different national currencies.

if ico intends to sell their tokens to general public, i like to see them getting regulated for clients' protection.  however, if the company ico is kinda private, something like selling the tokens to its workers or customers, then it may not be regulated.

Re: DO WE REALLY NEED MORE STABLE COINS?
by

i think there would become a trend for more stable coins in the near future.  as governments explore the possibilities of using crypto and blockchains, they may eventually create their own stable coins which will be pegged to their own national currency.  these stable coins will then be used simultaneously with fiats on 1:1 conversion rate.  imagine having many countries each having their own crypto currency.

Re: What do you think should I buy for 1 year?
by
hardinero007
on 20/03/2019, 06:44:29 UTC
After 3 months I will be in the army for a whole year. And I came to the conclusion that I need to buy something for $1000. This is not an important amount for me, but at the same time, I want to come home and with probability to raise this amount. I want to hear the opinion of experienced people, it will also be interesting to look at this topic in a year. Who advised what)

the safest and surest thing in crypto world is bitcoin.  just buy bitcoin with your $1000, and let it be for another 1-2 years.  i have very high faith that your 1000usd investment will be worth more than double that in 1-2 years.

i was amazed on how much eos blockchain can provide.  i believe more and more projects will be based on eos blockchain.  after all, what we really need to turn crypto/blockchain into real life application is the speed.  and when we talk about speed, no other major blockchain beats eos.  and ethereum doesn't even comes close.

Re: USDTether wallet
by
hardinero007
on 07/03/2019, 02:15:47 UTC
If you're from the United States, I suggest holding real dollars instead of holding USDT. It's been said from time to time that USDT might not really be 100% backed 1:1 as they've claimed in the past. Hence, there's a risk into holding USDT as a $1 USDT price isn't 100% guaranteed in the long term.

But anyway like OmegaStarScream said, Trezor supports it, along with Ledger. So if you're holding significant amounts, definitely go with that instead.

i don't think OP is planning to convert his assets into USDT.  perhaps he's planning to convert some into USDT to facilitate trading processes.  USDT is easier to send/transfer and is a preferred currency over USD in most exchanges.  USDT has been for many years and won't likely to collapse in an instant.  nevertheless, never put in more than you can afford to lose.

Re: which is easier 1-2% a day or 20-30% per month
by
hardinero007
on 05/03/2019, 07:47:29 UTC
Ok neither of these are easy but as a long term strategy to do think its best to day trade and try and get 1-2% a day or invest in a couple of coins and try and get 20% over a month

getting 1-2% is a lot easier than getting 20% over a month.  there will be days where you'll gain more than 2% a day as there will also be days where you'll lose more than 2% a day.  but getting 20% over a month means getting more gains daily than losing ones.  and to gain 1-2% daily for the majority of the days over the month requires more studies, research, analysis, tips and good luck.

Re: I've got $20k to invest. Please recommend!
by

on 01/03/2019, 14:36:40 UTC
Hey folks,

I've finally got around $20k to invest in long-term. No, unfortunately I cannot put this on a bank to get like 10-15% per year, I'd need something way more good.
What would you recommend? Mining? Other crypto?

Investors, please get me some cool ideas.

Thanks in advance,
Marcell

i recommend you invest some of your $20k fund into eos.  eos is at it's very early stage and a lot of potential is coming it's way.  there would be many projects that will base their blockchain on eos.  sure, bitcoin and ethereum has their own use, so does eos.  the 3 kings will dominate the crypto world for years to come.  the price of eos now is very undervalued.  when those eos-based projects starts popping out, expect eos bull to come also.

Re: ETH hard fork

What can we expect with ETH hard fork that is scheduled today? It is obviously not birthing a new coin but an upgrade. What I am more curious on is if its going to help the price at least reach $200

as i understand, there would be a decrease in the block reward after the hard fork.  that means mining would be harder.  that would probably make the eth price increase.

Re: Is USDT Tether safe?
by
hardinero007
on 25/02/2019, 18:51:47 UTC
Today, the tether continues to print 250 million tether, raising the tether's market capitalization to more than $ 2.7 billion to reach the top 10 coinmarketcap. People say that every time a tether is printed, the bitcoin price increases because the tether pumped USDT onto the floor to push the bitcoin price. What do you think about this and keep the USDT safe?

there is a truth that the creation of tether has pumped the price of bitcoin.  when massive amount of usdt has moved to an exchange, it is likely that there would be a big btc pump.  for the past several years, usdt do not have any problem when you want to withdraw or convert into fiat.  1 usdt can be encashed into 1 usd roughly.

Re: Steemit is dead. Is there any better alternative?
by
hardinero007
on 21/02/2019, 18:35:10 UTC
i don't think steemit is dead.  steemit came from the same developer that produced bitshares and eos.  i think the 3 sister blockchains are co-related to each other in some way and they will support each other.  for the past months, the price of steemit coins is at par with other altcoins.
