So the blind spot probably was him working alone on this wallet/node software "BITCOIN KNOTS" . At least he was the responsible maintainer. By breaking his PGP they were able to mess with the source code probably and in the end even his 2FA which he introduced was comprised. Really tragic tale.

I hope the community will be able to come up with a proper report of the events once @lukedahjr's is capable of explaining what actually has happened since this is probably a lesson that should be taken very seriously, IMHO. I've been following the developments of Bitcoin for some time and I was never convinced by this bold claims like "Bitcoin fixes this", "In code we trust" or "not your keys, not your Bitcoin". As long humans are involved there will be no way to create a trust-less system. BitcoinMaxis would be well advised to accept this and act accordingly.

But I can't get Armory running.
If I try to run armory via terminal as sudo I get this message
If I try to rung armory via terminal as normal user I get this message
If I click on the Desktop-Icon nothing happens.
I checked all the dependencies and installed all the libraries as described in this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5209374.0
Any ideas what could be the problem?

A reason why many would like to keep Bitcoin over fiat is that because the government has no control. But, it was to see that they are taking steps to get through it and possibly will control cryptocurrency someday. And if this going to happen, we don't know what will happen next but I think that these crypto investors and users will still invest in them. I don't think that they will stop this stuff but rather continue it under their control coz what they want is these users and holders will pay tax.
That tweet by Jonas Schnelli made me really think in that respect. Sounds a bit as if government agencies are already building up pressure.

Somehow I figured out it has something to do with the JSON calls from Armory to Bitcoin Core RCP, that are somehow obstructed by the TOR-settings.
I added
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
to the bitcoin.conf to ensure calls form Armory go through
I also read somewhere that port 127.0.0.1:8334 is used for RPC calls to Bitcoin Core, because Tor is using this port as well.
I'm now able to run bitcoind -daemon independently of Armory as long I immediately start Armory after I started bitcoind -daemon.
I guess that once bitcoind has established to many connections it doesn't accept RCP calls form Armory anymore.
Just peering through the fog

This is really weird. Armory does not access the WAN at all. It only talks to your node on localhost. If your node is seeing Armory, broadcast should work. Maybe your settings prevent tx relay? Or "onlynet=onion" is rejecting the connection from localhost, which is not correctly reflected in the node count. At any rate, you can copy the raw tx from Armory and broadcast it directly with Core.

I deleted the onlynet=onion option but it didn't help. Maybe its due to the proxy settings
Can you point me somewhere where I can find an explanation how to broadcast an armory-transaction directly with Core?

Try to add server=1 into your bitcoin.conf file.
If it didn't worked, please provide some lines from Armorylog.txt that may be related to the issue.

Armory-Transaction through BitcoinCore running as TOR-hidden-service
Hey guys,
I got a problem with executing transactions with my Armory wallet 0.96.5 through my BitcoinCore-Node 0.21.0 which runs as a TOR Hidden service.
When I click >Tools>Broadcast Raw TX on the UI I get the notification "Bitcoin Core is not available, so Armory will not be able to broadcast any transactions for you".
My bitcoin.conf looks like:
proxy=127.0.0.1:9050
onlynet=onion
listen=1
externalip=XXXX.....xxxx.onion
maxconnections=15
My armory wallet appears as WITNESS - Inboundconnection at the Bitcoin-qt as Node 127.0.0.1:51266 through 127.0.0.1:8333.
So I guess I have to enable my Armorywallet within the bitcoin.conf to access the TOR-network.
Does anybody know how?
