I met Mov on chopcoin a while back and we made quick friends. He's done some giveaway events, and true to his word, promply paid the winners. Full disclosure, i was one of them Smiley . We've also talked about possibly collaborating in the future on crypto related projects since he seems like a hard worker, as well as a people person which i am certainly not.

people sending coins to the feds?

I've heard of people sending small amounts of BTC to the silkroad address the feds now have with messages attached, but there seem to be some larger amounts going in now too. today there was one for 12.15078995. there some in there for 136.47811354 and 59.2772818. what the hell is going on?

heres the address on blockchain.info

Sorry for the late reply Harmal,

Yes, we will match BTC prices though generally vendors charge more for BTC transactions.

Does this answer your question?

i guess so. i was going to try to do price matching with my last order but when i called the girl on the phone said you were out. i made the purchase anyway, so maybe next time.

just got my maple leafs today. you guys are my favorite metals dealer so far (fast shipping, tracking number, pay with BTC Smiley

i do have a question though. i understand buying a monster box (value over $10,000) requires an 8300 form to be filled because its legal tender. does this also apply to the generic rounds when the purchase is above $10,000 when paying with BTC?

At this time Form 8300 only applies if you purchase $10,000 worth of gold and silver in cash/money order or if you purchase legal tender coins with BTC. If you are purchasing bars/rounds, then we do not need you to fill out form 8300. Of course government regulations could change at any time in the future. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

But a monster box is only $500  Grin

they're $11,327.00 at time of writing

http://www.amagimetals.com/silver-maple-monster-box.html

A monster box is a box of 500 $1 legal coins from the mint. It is worth $500 to the govt the rest is collectors value and whatever.

the way i understand it, the face value doesn't matter. if the total payment for your order is over $10,000 then the IRS form is filled out, even if the face value is less than $10,000. referring to the quote below, i assume "$10,000 worth of gold" is based on spot price and not face value (eg: 500 maple leaves = reporting, 500 rounds = no reporting). if i'm wrong please correct me.

At this time Form 8300 only applies if you purchase $10,000 worth of gold and silver in cash/money order or if you purchase legal tender coins with BTC.

that has been helpfull. thank you.

update: i went back to mining and found 4 more blocks, and 2 were orphaned. i think im might be done with litecoins if i'm getting this many orphaned blocks

2nd update: mining at litecoinpool.org now. seems like a better option to pool mine than risk losing rewards of 50 ltc.

thanks for the detailed response. so if i understand you correctly, getting 2 orphan blocks is really rare, but more likely in my scenario?

also i am on a home connection ~10mbps. i guess the pools have higher bandwidth and thus a better chance of getting a block into the chain before i do, so im at a disadvantage mining solo. well i guess thats ok, ill just go back to mining as usual as see how things go.

thanks for the quick reply. i heard of blocks being orphaned but i thought it was kinda rare. since it happened twice in a row i thought i was a mistake.  so its not a mistake - just bad luck?
