Re: GPU load going bonkers

This is more than likely caused by not setting a constant fan speed. Newer bioses of certain cards have this issue.

I use temp target 74 on my r9-290's (I have many rigs). The GPU load remains constant at 100%. The fan's on the r9 just pickup speed when the temp goes above that, hashing remains the same. It is possible there isn't enough external cooling on the rig. I use blower fan's to keep the r9's cool and running at a constant temp/hash rate. In my experience though, to get a constant hash-rate on the r9's you need to get your settings just right.

Re: If I get free electricity...

You will want to find the product with the highest GH/s per $, and ignore the GH/s per W figure. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison#ASIC

Also, there is no such thing as free electricity. What you mean to say is, electricity that someone else is paying for.

Not necessarily so, I "pay" for electricity because its rolled into the cost of my fixed monthly rent.

Well, your landlord would go crazy if the bills comes out like $5000 right?

I was asking myself the same thing. Isn't there some kind of AUP/FUP in your contract? I cannot imagine your landlord receiving a bill 10*your monthly rent would consider it as normal usage, and pay for it.

I can't imagine that would go over well, put electricity cost back in as an expense. You might even consider talking with your land-lord to give him a head's up that there could be a major increase in usage.

Your speeds are on par with similar hardware just like the others have pointed out. A little to late to the party though..

so it is not worth spending money on upgrading my rig?
i won't earn any money?
is that what you are saying?
and the price of btc is droping
what would you advise

Ask yourself what coin will be worth more in the future and mine it.

Diversify, buy some BTC, LTC, and put 50 bucks on DOGE. Grin

If you're in it to mine, hold off 2-3 months or until the some of the Titans hit the market and the next round of hardware comes out.

Re: What is the point of Gridseed miners?
by
hashrr.com

A quick calculation:

10 Gridseed Kit, 3 MHs = $200 x 10 = $2000

3 MHs at auto switching pool get you, let's see, 0.0045 BTC per MHs, so 0.0135 BTC a day, so you are making $5.805 (at $420/BTC) a day. It will take the buyer about 344 days to break even.

I feel so sorry for those who got snookered.

With gridseed blade it would be 1 blade, 5.8MHs= $1600

.0045 = .0261 BTC/day * $450(current BTC price) = $11.745/day = 136 days ROI

Not bad considering what it used to be but once Titan is released it is game over.

Titan will be produced as Neptune in small qts and not all miners will afford to buy one.
So will be room for all type of scrypt ASICS.

A single titan produces more mh/s than the net hash of many of the smaller scrypt coins. Even if just a few were released it would change the game.
