Re: Should You Mine / Buy Bitcoin Interest BCI ? (Implemented ProgPoW) PoW+PoS

First let me say thanks to Vosk for the insightful video.  Although i had been following BCI for some time, even i learned some new things.  @Vosk for the Q&A, when you called out Aaron Mathis, he was still there.  And a shout out to Aaron Mathis for following the stream and also clarifying some points in the comments.

I was happy to see a project move to ProgPOW.  And its not my first experience with BCI, as i was mining with my z9mini prior to the move to ProgPOW.

I was on my ETH OC settings since pools opened up last week.  Today, i tuned by OC settings to optimize for ProgPOW.

Since tuning OC settings i got a 20% increase in my hashrates.  Not bad with a little tinkering.  But the drawback is the power.  At these new hashrates, my power draw increased 35%.  Most of my GPUs were capped between 80 & 100 TDP on ethash.  With ProgPOW, all are 100 or over with my 1080s at 150 TDP.

With these 2 mining rigs, I am back to the power consumption which i was at before shutting down my 3rd rig to save power...

I'll try for a couple days to see the gains but at this power cost, i am thinking to go back to ethash.

If you reboot, you loose your change...

Not when you save the changes to  /www/pages/cgi-bin/minerAdvanced.cgi on the Z9 mini.

I believe what Django69 meant was that the changes are lost when the z9 mini is powered off, not reboot.  The OS is running on non-persistent storage and any changes to the file system are lost when powered off.  The config (ie. /config) on the other hand is kept on persistent storage and any changes here are retained.

When powered off, you lose your customized web page but your OC setting will still be set to what it was before the miner lost its power.

did someone receive 2nd batch z9 mini ? i heard on discord a9-z9 that the 2nd batch of z9 mini, bitmain have block the possibility to overclock ?
not true, it can be OC. I just did it

How to OC?  Did you flash another firmware?

I just received mine today and i only have the option for "balanced" instead of a list of frequencies to set.

i didn’t do anything, it came with a list of frequencies as default just like in the 1st batch

Thanks to the help of Franomaster and Cursed Mining on Cursed Mining's Discord channel, a solution has been found for overclocking batch 2 z9 minis that are locked down.  I confirm it is working because I am the one who validated the solution.

Below is the link to the video created by Cursed Mining explaining how it is done.

Hope it helps

Re: [CPU] JCE Miner Cryptonight/forks, brand new, super fast!

I gave it a go to see how it compares with XMR-Stack on my dual mining rigs.  My results below are for CPU only.

XMR:  500h/s (XMR-Stack) vs 330h/s (JCE)
  => ryzen 1800x
  => 34% decrease in hashrate

LOKI:  100h/s (XMR-Stack) vs 180h/s (JCE)
  => ryzen 1700x
  => 80% increase n hashrate

For both, the config file is the same.  Startup batch is different as i mining different coins using different algos on different pools.

I am amazed how huge the hashrate variance is between the two coins.  But nevertheless very happy to see the hashrate of Loki go up so much.
Is there any explanation for the variance between the two coins?

I'll stick with XMR-Stack on Monero and see how JCE goes for a few days on Loki.
