[ANN] Q - A Quantum Proof of Work fork of Ethereum
by

Hello, Bitcointalk. It's been a long time.
I havn't posted an announcement here since ~2013/2014

I created something new, something groundbreaking.
There have been quite a few quantum resistant blockchains. These are great if you only want to make traditionally mined blockchains resistant to quantum computers.
What I've created uses quantum computing as its proof of work mechanism. Making it not just quantum resistant but quantum dependent.

At its heart it uses Qiskit. Qiskit is a library by IBM that allows anyone to simulate a quantum computer or interface with a real IBM quantum computer.
To mine a block a miner must do 48 quantum puzzles that are only able to be done on a simulator or a real quantum computer. Each puzzle requires the puzzle before it to be complete before it can be started. This removes any possibility of doing the work in parallel. All 48 quantum puzzles must be done in sequence.

Difficulty adjustments and block rewards mimic bitcoin. 50Q is rewarded to every winner of a block.

Q is minable on CPU, GPU and real quantum computers, it is also asic resistant due to its quantum simulation requirement.

As we have seen with many other POW blockchains, if this becomes popular there will be an arms race for block rewards. This will lead to inovations around quantum computer simulation and push the boundaries forward on real quantum hardware.
Imagine if IBM is renting out all of their Quantum computers they will need to build more and will have a reason to accelerate innovation due to demand of their hardware.

I have a local testnet running. Once I'm confident I have all major bugs worked out I will release this for a public testnet.

The best passive cooling strategy  Grin free of charge.BTCMining location will be more and more important in the future.

reminds me of this: (look at date of post)

I used this strategy more for noise-reduction than cooling, although the cooling part worked really well, too.

how do you keep the moisture out? How does it not suck snow into the case? I would love to see a picture of one of these open.

5.5 GH/s, 36 Watts total. That's my "rig"!

All you need now is a small solar panel and battery set-up and you can be mining bitcoins for no operational costs.

I wonder how long this could run off of just a 12v car battery. Or a bank of LiPos.

For fun:
Let's take a group 27 deep-cycle battery from my store ($117.95 + $5.00 core charge).
It's rated at 96 amp-hours, multiply that by its nominal voltage of 12 volts and you get 1152 watt-hours.
Divide by 36 watts (we'll assume that the DC-DC supply you'd use in place of the AC-DC supply will also pull 36 watts from the battery) and you get 32 hours of run time (approximately).

You'd want to use a deep-cycle battery, not an actual car (cranking) battery.  The car battery wouldn't last very many cycles in this application.
And LiPos are just too expensive for something like this, several times what a wet lead-acid would be.

I have an even more fun idea. Cheesy

Since this is so light and efficient It could be put on a (relatively) cheap weather balloon. Give it a cellular modem like a tethered android phone and you have the first bitcoin miner at the edge of space. Cheesy Mind you it might need a stronger radio. lol

I should have bought a laser cutter instead of a 3D printer. Tongue

Considering the size of the bfl units I could easily design and 3D print the ducting needed for this. Cheesy

This is my first "milk crate" rig, tell me if I screwed anything up. lol
Temps are a bit high for my liking, but I have some high CFM 120mm fans on the way that I'm going to mount to the top of the cards for airflow, this should help alot.

That last one is the APU if anyone was wondering.

Here's my current setup.  6x Sapphire 7970s on Win8x64.  Slightly OC'd while also undervolted from 1.175 to 1.090
Don't mind the ghettoness, this is my first rig.  I'm getting aluminum pieces this week and going to make them really nice, also getting ready for 2nd rig.  This is Damn Fun Cheesy Cool

Nothing ghetto about those temps. Smiley

What does your cgminer.conf look like ?

Its only been running for a few seconds in that pic. I want to see the temps after an hour of running.

The premise of the game is to out bet your opponent.
There is a blind bet, highest bet wins both bets. The house takes a small 2% fee.

Step 1: Deposit some Ethereum onto the contract.

Step 2: Place a bet.

Step 3: Add your newly minted bet Token to the Fighting arena.

Step 4: Add a bet Token from the All Bets tab to the Fighting arena.

Step 5: Click FIGHT!! to start the battle.

Step 6: Wait for the block to confirm and check the results.

EB Market - Open Alpha

http://ebmarket.co

EB Market is a new dynamic in online E-commerce. It's hosted on the Ethereum Blockchain, this means that auctions on our platform have the same benefits as any cryptocurrency or crypto-collectible. EB Market has escrow and dispute resolution built right in. Funds are always verifiable and non-paying bidders are not possible. EB Market also hosts a Feedback/Reputation system so you can always feel confident in buying on our Market. Because it is on the blockchain EB Market is universal. Anyone from anywhere can buy from anyone from anywhere while using the universally accepted currency Ethereum. EB Market's core technology is patent pending and we will have a full patent within a few months.

EB Market is currently in Open Alpha, to participate you only need to have Metamask installed, be on the Rinkeby network, and hold some Rinkeby Ethereum.
You can get Rinkeby Ethereum from this faucet. https://www.rinkeby.io/#faucet

For testing purposes selling has been unlocked for everyone. The final version will require anyone that wants to become a seller to be whitelisted by an admin or mod. To become a seller when the final version goes live please send an Email to support@eblabs.co with the subject "Make Me A Seller". Please include the Ethereum address that you want whitelisted.

Please report any bugs that you find in the forum forum.ebmarket.co. Include as much information and as many screenshots as you can to assist us in squashing the bug.

In the bitcoin code a singular unit of measure is 1 satoshi. Its actually defined COIN and CENT ect.

So 1 Coin is 100,000,000 satoshi but it shows as 1 in the client. No need to deal with decimals.

Just do something similar.
