Hi Seth,
can you answer at least in PM? It's been more than 2 days now... have you been off for the weekend? Well then, now it's time to go back to work!!

Has anybody more informations about this scammer?
If somebody is interested in pressing charges against Seth Bollenbecker, please contact me in private. I'm now considering all my options. Since the scammer has been identified and we can prove he stole thousands of dollars we should be able to recover part of our investment... also, I think we should contact his family or his school to see what are their position on the issue.

I contacted cryptostocks but their support is unresponsive.
What do you plan to do with my case? I've been patient for a long time now... maybe I should have cried like thomas or called your parents or whatever.
Also, I see that you are just refunding people with small amounts of shares. Are you doing this just to keep us quiet?

I don't know what to do Seth... I even accepted a strongly discounted price for the buyback but you didn't sent me a satoshi so far... please remember that 5 BTCs are a big amount of money for me!

First time i'm writing here.

I've sent you many email Seth, but haven't been answered so far.
Like many others I bought some of your shares. I actually owe 176 firemine shares!
I've spent more that 5 BTCs on your scam stock and I pretend to be refunded, at least partially.

It's been weeks now that my name (angel) is listed under the problematic shareholders list and I'm getting nervous.

As I explained previously in my email, my email wasn't set to public (for obvious reason) and that's why you didn't found it in the ipo-price shareholders list...
Now it's set to public and you should find it. Unfortunately old movements don't show up anymore in my cryptostocks account and I can't send you a screenshot.

I hope you'll take some time to answer me at least here.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I've found roughly ten "80" in the four strings. I then copied the following 64 characters in a hex -> base58check converter to obtain the corresponding wif private key and imported the results into a blockchain.info wallet. All the corresponding addresses are completely empty.

Could these strings be generated from a brainwallet dump or something?
Does somebody know if electrum or multibit generate hex encoded backups?

Probably the answer is just behind the corner, but I tried to find infos online without luck for a few days now!

Help needed, I cannot recover my old wallet backup!

Hello everybody!

I hope this is the right place for my post since I'm quite new to the forum.

At the beginning of 2012 I got excited about bitcoins and started mining for a few weeks. My computer wasn't very powerful, so I hadn't the chance to mine many coins before the fan started annoying my wife... so I just stopped, somehow saved my wallet in a usb pen and forgot about the whole thing.

A few days ago I found the old usb key and I'd like to try to recover my coins (about 20-25 BTCs if I recall it correctly). The problem is that I really can’t understand how I exported my wallets (or keys)!!

What I remember is that at the time I was often playing with brainwallets, electrum and multibit, but nothing more..
My backups are four strings, 581 characters long, representing a hex value (ie. there are only characters 0-9, a-f) and all of them start with “80”.

Hopefully somebody will be able to help me.
I’ll be glad to offer 25% if the recovered funds to anyone who can help me retrieve them.

Thanks

Email backups are encrypted with your account password, but be careful because if a hacker gains control of your email, or dropbox account, he could use it to spend your coins (if he knows your password), even bypassing 2-factor authentication.

Blockchain.info has a nice feature, which lets you decide a different password required to spend your coins. This is supposed to reduce further the risk of being stolen because your private keys would stay encrypted until you really need them.

In the Blockchain wallet, under "Send Money" tab, choose "Custom" instead of "Quick Send".
From there you can specify your change address. Also, you can choose your input address, miners feed, ...

The guys at Wallet recovery services have had some success in the past: http://www.walletrecoveryservices.com.
If you can't find your password they could be able to bruteforce your wallet, knowing the supposed password and trying lots of different variations.

On the downside... you'll have to trust them not to take your full balance if they succeed!

Blockchain online wallet is one of the easiest options imho.
Just create a new wallet or use your current wallet.
Then, under "Import/Export" section, just put your private key and click "Add Private Key". You will have the option to import the private key directly into the wallet or to sweep the corresponding key.
Blockchain will tell you to be very careful, but you can't really screw up with this...

hope this helps!
