Gox's price will hopefully meet the other exchanges half way on price. Or a panic sell could ensue when people cash out coin for as much as they think they can get in the short term. It's all a matter of what Bitcoins already doing when the banking restrictions are lifted.

Re: What would happen to the price with a bitcoin funded terrorist attack?

If a 9/11 type terrorist attack was funded by Bitcoin, it would catastrophically change the worlds view of our beloved currency. Sadly it could happen. If it does then lawmakers could pass an anti Bitcoin bill just like they passed an anti 4th amendment bill after 9/11. In the short term, the price could shoot up, as so much publicity would inevitably attract new buyers. However, I would hate to see Bitcoin become known as a terrorist currency.

The whales can shake the price in the short term, but it will be the black swan cyprus like events that will give Bitcoin a value and reputation as a "global fiat escape currency". Whenever a government tries to take their citizens fiat, citizens will convert fiat to Bitcoin to avoid losing it to taxes. Bitcoin will be the Cayman Islands of currency one day.

Out of the around 40 people I brought Bitcoin up to, only two people had seen something about it in the news, and I've only convinced one person to invest in Bitcoins. I brought it up in a community college class this week and not one person new what Bitcoin was. I explained what it was, they looked at me like I was crazy and it was awkward... So nowhere near what I'd call mainstream.

I thought you already said you sold? For someone who logs on to these forums everyday spouting complete bs about Bitcoin and saying that they just sold all their coins, it sure is weird that you've been holding into the 60s...

I've been lurking these forums for the last 4 months. I finally made an account to be able to tell a few of the turds off.

If you can't spend at least $1.3k on a rig, you should probably just use your available funds to buy bitcoins on an exchange. ASICS are very expensive now because they are new but I predict they will eventually drop in the $1.5k range.

I think its a matter of time before someone who got rich on Bitcoins or an exchange starts creating computer systems and an improved infrastructure that allows cheap ways for the private sector to include a Bitcoin paradigm. After that happens I'll be the happiest to order a number 4 no cheese at Mcdonalds. Smiley
