Re: Three different Bitcoin coffee mugs - "honey badger" , "qr" and "cryptography"
by

I'd love a "hardcore" honey badger design.

"Bitcoin

don't give a shit."

Honey badger with an arm around Snowden, smoking a joint lit from burning USD.

(I get a free mug for the idea, right?)

I approve of this message.

You can send my royalties to...... j/k.

I'm in Canada and I can only dream of a 0.55% fee.
Cavirtex charges 3% both ways.

Re: Announcement: Tradehill is back
by

Paying back:  Most of the clients have been paid back. If you haven't gotten paid back send an email to claim@tradehill.com
I still get people that simply hadn't checked it in a year etc  I've got funds and I'm using them to make people whole.

I'm one of your former clients who had a small amount of USD left in my account when you closed.
I can't remember the exact amount but it was less than $100. Still, I would like to have it back.

Do you still have details of my former account?
All the info I have is my account login and password.

Re: Mt. Gox spoofed e-mails
by
honeybadger
on 21/06/2011, 13:37:23 UTC
I also received the above spoofed email...and another, worded as follows:

Dear Mt.Gox user,

Our database has been compromised, including your email. We are working on a
quick resolution and to begin with, your password has been disabled as a
security measure (and you will need to reset it to login again on Mt.Gox).

If you were using the same password on Mt.Gox and other places (email, etc),
you should change this password as soon as possible.

For more details, please see this:

hxxps://support.mtgox.com/entries/20208066-huge-bitcoin-sell-off-due-to-a-compromised-account-rollback

The informations there will be updated as our investigation progresses.

Please accept our apologies for the troubles caused, and be certain we will do
everything we can to keep the funds entrusted with us as secure as possible.

The leaked data includes the following:

- Account number
- Account login
- Email address
- Encrypted password

While the password is encrypted, it is possible to bruteforce most passwords
with time, and it is likely bad people are working on this right now.

Any unauthorized access done to any account you own (email, mtgox, etc) should
be reported to the appropriate authorities in your country.

Thanks,
The Mt.Gox team

The link in the email has been sanitized. It leads to a PHP script of somekind.
Obviously, everyone knows better than to click links in emails, right?

And hey, let's be careful out there.

What's the problem with an unobtrusive sig link?

As someone who will probably sign up for a TH account at some point, I will be wanting that 10% discount and for that I'll need someone's referral code.

If I read a particularly insightful and/or helpful post... the codes in signatures will make it easier to make sure my commission goes to someone who deserves it, instead of having to PM them, wait for a reply, blah..etc

I just plunked down the cash for 2x 5830. Hopefully Purolator Express gets them here by the weekend. Then I can join your esteemed ranks!

I wish I had started a year and a half ago when I first heard of BTC mining. Oh well...split milk and all that.

This PSU looks decent:

Thermaltake Black Widow 850w: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153106

It has 69A on a single 12v rail, and 2x 6pin, 2x6+2 pin PCI-E connections.

I don't think bitcoins are taxable....and that's kind of the point, isn't it? Besides... Its an international system. Who would have authority to tax it?

If you cash out your BTC holdings into your local national currency, however, that would count as capital gain and you would be required by legislation to declare it and pay the tax. (in N.america, anyway....not too sure about international tax law)

Re: GPU mining rig -- How much CPU is actually required?
by
honeybadger
on 13/06/2011, 17:51:52 UTC

GPUs used for mining can go into x1 slots with extenders, so slot speed is not an issue.

Your biggest issue with a mainboard is having enough space between the PCI-E slots to allow for multiple cards and sufficient cooling.  Also, I'd actually think twice about a 430W PSU if you have a desire to do 2X GPUs on that board, especially 2x 6800s.

2 x 6800?

I have 2 x 8600GTS on an AMD64 X2....I considered putting it to work mining, but my reading led me to think my rig wouldn't cut it.

What do you think I could mine with it?

Re: BTC Transaction fee of 0.01 for a 0.02 Send?

I heard that if you send a bitcoin that hasn't 'matured' for a while, the fee gets imposed. I can't say if this is true or not.

Anyone needing to build up -otc rep?
by
honeybadger
on 13/06/2011, 15:17:58 UTC

Hi
I'm looking for folks in Canada to participate in some micro transactions through #bitcoin-otc so I can get some web of trust ratings (and give some)

I'm paying Paypal CAD for units of 0.01 BTC. The transaction amounts are small and there are no fees for sending and receiving PP within Canada.

My PP account is Premier Verified status
I'm willing to go first if you have a good rating. I have no rating yet, but will soon with your help.

post here if you like the idea and want to get in on the action

track me down in IRC
  _honeybadger_
#bitcoin-cad

I'll post this offer on bitcoin-otc.com board as soon as I figure it out.

It would be great if somehow the wallet file could be stored encrypted and decentralized over the network. That would quell some fears of crashing HDs

 Hello,
 I'm honeybadger and I don't give a shit

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r7wHMg5Yjg

I just started getting into bitcoin. Wish I had done so when I first read about it last year. Still... I'm still excited to be getting in early on what could be a game-changing idea.

This whole bitcoin journey has been highly educational. I'm delving into IRC, gpg, ubuntu, for the first time and having a blast!

...now if I could just get come $ onto the market.
