Yet another shit post, RIC is shit blah blah blah my post is super interesting

I call that déjà vu...

ughhhh. Not another Hype-Coin. Besides a tweak to the algorithm there is (yet again) nothing of real value with this new coin. Wow you can find prime numbers. PrimeCoin does that. Problem is everyone is scratching and scraping to get on the next "Bitcoin" so any new coin that gets released everyone and their grandmother jumps on it.

Sure, people will make money once accepted into exchanges but after x amount of time this coin will be like all the rest. Just a few pennies in a sea of endless alt coins.

This is part of the problem. Week after week anyone with a basic programming and marketing knowledge can make the next hypecoin. There is no innovation here. You can find prime numbers? a little different way? whoop-de-do.

How do you expect your coin to get passed the hype-trade?

The 3 major players are as follows:

BTC
LTC
PrimeCoin

That is it. Ride the hype! Go for it! make some money! but for long term investors? Like myself? NO THANKS.

Good Luck with your coin though. Really.
These type of coins are really really irritating!

Our developers do not need your stupid luck. Riecoin is a great investment for long term with more and more people working on the project every week.

In comparison, Litecoin is a pointless cryptocurrency with its now ASIC broken algorithm, Bitcoin is merely the frist one, and Primecoin is not more alive than Riecoin. Poloniex will regret delisting RIC.

Is this the correct forum to ask about the riecoin.org website?
It needs some serious updating.
For example several of the exchanges listed are no longer functioning.
Several of the links do not work.
Some of the listed forums are long since closed.
Overall just needs a review and update.

The official website is unfortunately obsolete and the founder is too lazy to update it. For now, you should only rely on the community posts. Be confident that someone will eventually create a new website that will replace riecoin.org, or that Gatra eventually gives the domain ownership to someone from the community.

9,182,025.45 RIC Huh

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ric/#!wallets

Poloniex - biggest balance

I noticed that even after September 2, the balance is decreasing. Are they already slowly dumping the coins on Zapple? If so, they might be the ones who sold 2 times 100 k at 70 sat...

In the other direction, just a 1-2 BTC buy would wipe the sell orders and the price would return to 300-400... And a 3-4 BTC one would make the price return to the precrash values. Buyers, do not be shy! In particular the dude who places ridiculously small buy orders, just wipe these sell orders already!

It is really painful to mine with these miserable prices as well. Riecoin must be profitable again.

So, after completing successful update and comeback, there will be huge pump and then dump. Nothing will change, because all people are same. Just think about this, that someone influential will have interest in pumping this coin again.

Only time will tell us if people will still be motivated after the update. But I really hope that the community will not just stop there and continue improving Riecoin and propose new services for it.

And sure, who knows if some dude wants to create a "Bitcoin Constellation" shitfork like they did for Primecoin. Maybe Zapple could set up a system which prevent whales from pumping or dumping coins, although in another hand, everyone should be free to make any order it wants.

looks died or project with all left devs?

Please people, stop being stupid... This project is far from dead!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  WARNING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WITHDRAW YOUR RIECOINS FROM POLONIEX IMMEDIATELY ! POLONIEX WILL STOP THEIR RIECOIN WALLET IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS !

All Riecoins left in Poloniex will be their property after they stop the wallet.

To pools owners: Please put warning message for your users on your sites, and if you have your client's mails, try to send them warning messages.

Yeah, there are still 10 M RIC waiting to be withdrawn!!! What are they doing? Don't let your funds there, transfer them to your wallet or the new exchange Zapple!

Or who knows if Poloniex actually did some insider trading and the remaining coins are actually theirs...

Why would they become the property of Poloniex? You'd think they would become part of an escheatment process, or dormant, orphaned funds.

This should be obvious... They gave the users 1 month to withdraw, after this date, people will no longer be able to access these coins, so Poloniex can then do anything they want with the RIC in their wallets.

If they decide to dump the 10 M coins, we will pass a really hard time in the following months...

If anyone is interested in, I merged the original gatra's miner (rminerd) and the latest dave-andersen's one (fastrie), so anyone can solo mine Riecoins using the optimized algorithm. Here is the rieMiner's GitHub repository.
...
I plan to work on it on September and later to add the GetBlockTemplate (and custom payout addresses) and Stratum (and pool mining as well) protocols support, a benchmark mode (dummy mining at constant difficulty), and fix remaining problems. The Testnet nodes will be very useful for me!

Awesome! I was looking for a way to solo mine with that low difficulty, even though RIC pools are earning me correct amount of coins. You miner works very well on my computer, thank you for your work! I like how it shows the stats and the estimated time to find a block. I am looking forward to see these updates, if you add pool mining, your miner might become the new reference one!

Very nice! The more places to discuss about Riecoin, the better is! Thanks! You really deserve that Gatra gives you the Riecoin.org domain.

I wish Zapple was open to those of us in the US to do this!
Seriously? Why is it not open for US people? Geographic restrictions should be a thing of the past, this is disappointing... Is it a marketing strategy to earn some reputation before opening to so many potential customers?

We are now accepting sign-ups from USA.

Great! I hope that CoinMarketCap will soon add your exchange.

Riecoin's future looks really bright, thanks to everyone!

Just let them dump and give their hard earned money to more intelligent people. They will cry when the price will recover. This might need months, but as long as we have motivated people like Clo1, Lzknr, IGJ and all the community, there is no reason that the project will collapse. The 0.16 wallet, a good maintained community website, an interesting hard fork, some advertising, and the market cap will easily match the Primecoin one (which would give us a price over 6000 sat). IGJ, do not hesitate to take initiatives with your website and promote the project!

Carlospavone, Love diem, and all the holders who bought at more than 500, just do not panic. Forget about your coins and come back only in a few months to check the price. You should still be prepared to lose everything if I was too optimistic (never invest what you cannot afford to lose). But if you sell now, you lose for sure.

And congrats Guytp, Cryptoid is now using Zapple to show the price! Next step is CoinMarketCap!

Impressive, Cool4y and some other guys were basically right since the beginning. The promises were too good to be true and there were so many red flags. I was so naive to trust them.

A refund of barely 40 % (in BTC I hope? Not just in USD) is disappointing, but still better than 0 %. Let's be refunded soon and forget that disaster.

I've made pretty good progress on the upgrade over the last couple weeks. If you take a look at the explorer network you will see a 0.16.0 node. I believe I have all the riecoin changes implemented. I was able to sync the chain starting from scratch. The gui is close to complete as well. I have a few more things I need to test. I'm hoping to release a version of the code in a couple weeks for more extensive testing.

Can someone give me a list of seed nodes to use? Should I use the list of nodes on page 284?

Very good, great news! Thank you! Are you working with Lzknr, or alone? (then you would be competing each other for the bounty) Do you have a GitHub repository, so we can check the progress?

Could you upgrade later to 0.16.2 instead of 0.16.0?

About hard coded nodes, try finding some very old lists and check if some nodes are still in the latest one from Ziiip, and choose these one. Or just run the client for a months and only keep the nodes that are connected at least 99 % of the time.

...

We will need to decide which of the bitcoin softforks we want to implement. The code is all there. It is just a matter of activating them. If we choose to activate them we might need to update miners to use a new block version.

All of them. It's not worth trying to deviate from upstream with the development manpower Riecoin has, and all available softforks offer valid network improvements.

+1, and this is likely to improve in some way acceptance and integration of Riecoin in future exchanges. (like Barter DEX which required some BIPs, but would else gladly accept listing RIC)

Sure, faucet is re-enabled:

https://cryptap.us/ric/faucet

Thank you!

Hello,
First I would like to say, I am not developer of the project, and all I am doing is only because I am finding riecoin very useful and
meaningful project. All funds I am investing in this are my personal and nobody pay me for this. I cant guarantee everything and always will work, but I will try to help as much as I can.

Today I am deploying riecoin-community.com, to help setting your own wallets and nodes, and to can start from somewhere forming community.

Awesome, a Riecoin community website, this is exactly what the project needs!

We currently need a how to page, which explains that the current client will not sync if we do not add the nodes in the config file. I am sure that many people labelled the project as shit just because they were not able to sync.

One obvious thing to have is a news section. News could be anything like a new version is released or is coming soon, a new exchange listing, a new pool (or news about their status, as some like Ublock sometimes has problems), or if a world record has been broken. And anything related to Riecoin, like if a famous newspaper mentions it, or if some academic research is using the project. People must see that the project is alive and RIC is worth buying.

A neat tool would be a profitability calculator and a table which lists different CPUs and how many ch/s they can compute. You could show the prices of the exchanges too.

A forum, good idea, with sections about the project where people could give ideas to improve the miner algorithm or proof of work system, and other about anything.

Nice pages would be something that explains how the algorithm works, one for everyone and one for programmers, who could improve the miner.

Bonus points would be to implement a faucet in faucet.riecoin-community.com and exposing it to make Riecoin even more known: some advertising could be easily done in other faucets, so people who use them will see a new one and try it, and discover Riecoin at the same time.

Cryptapus, you seem to have one in your website, any plans to fix the maintenance mode?

The best would still that the official website Riecoin.org goes to hands like yours. At least, a mention to your website in the official one, and the first post of this topic (which should be updated too).

New richest address REFJ34pJ3J9S56A6XZCPnYTvPpx1DRC7mx with 3,198,240.399533 RIC! If that whale got them during the crash, it will enjoy some great returns soon! It would be better if the wealth was more distributed, but I guess that most of the coins have an insane Gini index.

I wonder who the miner RLGzidMRkhfqEWjUY8fVxmgLS7HCdogXYN is... How can someone mine more that 30 % of the blocks? Is Google mining RIC with their servers?

Cryptoid not showing any price now for RIC... Prepare to hear some people shouting "RIC DEAD!!!"

Someone seems to have wiped the sell orders on Zapple yesterday and bought at 700, and not just dust amounts! I do not know why that person did that (it was still possible to trade on Poloniex at 100), but if he or someone else can do this again and add a huge buy wall at 600, we could already return to a reasonable price!

Guytp, you are already being rewarded, RIC/BTC is by far the pair with the highest volume!

this coin is dead for sure. and listing on zapple wont matter because it was listed on zapple on 8-6-2018 and still volume didn't even change.

So you expected that a newborn exchange would so easily suck the Poloniex's volume? This is normal that the volume is still very low. As soon as Zapple becomes a bigger exchange, the volume will be much better, and I have confidence that they are working everyday to grow their exchange. Currently, I think that Riecoin helps Zapple to be more famous more than the other side.

Sure, no updates since 4 years is just ridiculous, so much work has to be done, but a coin with developers now working on updating the wallet, miners and pools supporting the network, regular members talking about the project, is not a dead one. We could agree that it was dormant for years, but currently, it is wakening and far from dead.

Just come back in a few months for the wallet update, listings in multiple DEX, better recognition of Zapple, and the game will just begin here. Ideas for a hard fork were already proposed to improve even more the point of this coin. Before all that, the volume does not even matter at all.

Or never come back if you still think that the coin is dead, and let it die in peace...

please, don't be sarcastic... not everybody can have more powerful machine. Everyone has his own reality and options. I do what I can with what I have, and I appreciate no cynism ;-)

I did not mean to be sarcastic, I just wanted to help you answering your question, sorry if you misread me. Mining with a small CPU is perfectly fine, but for efficiency and profitability, it is much better to have a powerful CPU.

Just wait 2-3 days for syncing, the wait will be worth it! I just hope that we will not have to download again the blockchain with the update.

I wish Zapple was open to those of us in the US to do this!

Seriously? Why is it not open for US people? Geographic restrictions should be a thing of the past, this is disappointing... Is it a marketing strategy to earn some reputation before opening to so many potential customers?

You could still try to sign in by lying about your location though, I do not think that they would bother checking that you actualy have an non US IP...

I've been out for a few days and I noticed that Poloniex will remove RIC and with that, prices have collapsed! It's a great opportunity to buy, I'll wait another 1 or 2 days to take action! Although waiting for an updated wallet, Gatra is absent, maybe this has impacted Poloniex's actions.
Take this coin to a DEX, like CryptoBridge.

Yeah, do not wait too long before someone wipes the sell orders! This is a huge occasion to make some nice profit. And true, if Gatra came more often, Poloniex could still keep RIC listed. But great projects do no need to be listed in the worst exchange of the world, and we count on current developers to make them regret delisting it now and make new exchange wanting to list us.

We know that if we update the wallet, Barter DEX will likely list it, as they just required that some functions were implemented, which will be the case with the new wallet. Someone shoud remember to contact the CEO when the update will be ready.

Lzknr, or anyone trying to earn the 0.6 BTC bounty, do you have a Riecoin Core Github repository, so we can see the progress?

QUESTION: is it possible to mine it on CPU with quite low hash power (200H/s)?
I mean and be a little profitable over time

Where did you get the 200 H/s?

With a weak CPU, you might still earn a few RIC each week, but you should use a powerful 6 or more cores one like a i7 or a R7 to earn appreciable payouts. Profitability is currently out of question, but used to be fair, and will be again when the prices will return to acceptable ranges. A small processor with very low power consumption could still be profitable if you do not use the computer just for the sake of mining, but do background mining.

As they are the best for freezing things, Poloniex should freeze RIC sell orders, panic sellers should not be allowed to sell... When will they understand that they can just keep their RIC without selling and send then to Zapple?

i am very unhappy for riecoin. I think Gatra must do something hard and work relisting for big exchanges.

Dude, we all understood that you are disappointed, so go support some other project, and come back here only if you have something interesting to tell about the project. And you need to understand that Gatra will not do much for the project like Satoshi, Riecoin is ours since long.

The price will probably stay outregeously low until August 2nd and days after, but I already bought the dip. I do not care if it crashes further as I am sure that it will eventually recover. $370 k market cap is absurd for this project, Primecoin is $30 M, Riecoin is so much undervalued. A good indicator is that the difficulty is still not moving.

It might be interesting to monitor the Poloniex's balances, it can give a good indication about how many RIC are waiting to sell, but we can hope that most of it are not owned by stupid sellers. The delisting might finally not be so bad, as the volume will be transfered to Zapple, which will gain some nice exposure.

At this point I actually believe that funds should be used to list RIC on another exchange, rather than upgrading the wallet. Just my two cents.

While I do agree the wallet needs upgraded, RIC needs liquidity to survive. In the meantime, we need zapple listed on cmc etc.

I think the opposite. Liquidity is great, but many people will still remain interested in this project regardless to the price of RIC, and these people have the most genuine interest. And if we release a wallet first and do some more advertising, the project will be more credible, and it will likely be easier to list it in the other exchanges.

I was going to post something else, but IGJ said most of what I was going to say...

Poloniex circus (pardon circle:) team are idiots ! Four months they keep the wallet disabled and now they delisting the riecoin because lack of trade volume (sorry i call them idiots, but cant find other proper world in my mind when i see the facts). I am pretty sure those who sell now will cry later, and those who buying now will be rich in the feature (I personally bought around 500k and will keep going). Minimal price of riecoin must be around 1500 sat (that only to cover energy for mining).

Idiot is a weak word to describe them. And agree, Riecoin should be at 2 k-4 k sat or more (which would match the electricity price if the difficulty ever returns to 1700-1800. Time to buy before it is too late and profit.

I have no doubts riecoin will survive, but to make it better we need to form community. I think we need more and better advertising, to let people knows riecoin is much better coin than all tons bulshit coins which are total waste of energy. Riecoin algorithm is unique and useful for humanity and is perfect balanced to control the inflation. Also we need to attract investors to can support the project (Universities around the world will have interest in this coin im sure).

Totally agree. If I am not mistaken, DGA is a college professor. It would be great if some academic papers used Riecoin as a reference. Or if some research could be done to optimize more the mining (and fundamental math) algorithm.

I started to work on riecoin core upgrade, patching it on hand with patches from upper versions of bitcoin core ... I started to realize it is not task for one man and we will need team for that, and in future things will be better if there is team.

lzknr is currently working on the wallet too, and I read in a previous post that someone else was interested. You should contact them to work together. Another solution could be to start a wallet from scratch! Why not propose something like Electrum which does not require to sync! We do not have to have just one wallet!

For first maybe is better to start from official web site, to make it look actual, with more information on it and to form some kind of comunity there. In the past there was forum on the site do somebody know why it disappeared ? Also who is holding the site now? Gatra ?

Gatra is still alive, but makes only very rare appearances. But sure, the website needs to be always updated. Someone else should be elected to own the domain and manage it. Even if Lzknr releases a great wallet update, if nothing follows, RIC will become a zombie again, we need a fresh website.

The Bitcoin wallet updates should be merged regularly with the Riecoin official one, and we must motive people to contribute to this project. There is already the idea of a hard fork to mine different tuple sizes, such that we could mine with both CPU and GPU, which sounds promising.

Someone could create a faucet. A mobile wallet. You could do it, IGJ!

People should be motivated to propose and use services which use the Riecoin's chain, like a proof of existence service for almost free, or even protocols like Counterparty. Such things can be done with any blockchain, but the fact that Riecoin uses an useful proof of work algorithm is a great bonus.

Why not think big and imagine Riecoin replacing Litecoin and all those so called equitable shitforks!

game over

It looks like that someone else was pissed of too and sent some coins to a burn address. Throw away your coins there and go away.

This is ridiculous!  I am upset with these cryptocurrency exchanges delisting coins left and right.  I frequently use cryptopia coinexchange and poloniex. I would say over the past several months about 25% of the coins have been delisted from the exchanges.  That is just not right.  The coin developers need to be more serious about their coin project before applying to an exchange.  There needs to be a more strict approach to be qualified to enlist on an exchange. The exchanges need to be more serious before accepting the coins on an exchange.

Except that Riecoin was listed years ago, when it was (and is) a direct competitor of XPM, which was in the top 10 altcoins. It made much sense to list it in 2014.

Keep working lzknr, we count on you to give fresh air to this great project. Can you tell us some news? Can you with high probability finish the wallet before 2019? Do you work with someone else? (DGA, any pool owner, any other volunteer)

And the clo1's idea of alternating the tuple sizes is awesome. Even more if some sizes are GPU friendly, so it could attract even more miners and interest and litterally destroy XPM! CPU + GPU mining with none advantaged would be great! Riecoin has a great potential, even after these years!

We need to find a solution about the superblock too, as it is somewhat bad to have the coins stuck during 1 hour,

Stop panicking, stupid moronic sellers.......... Delisted from a shit exchange is not a big deal! We have Zapple now, which seem to have great growth potential and have a great dude who is actually hearing our voices! XpoolX is working on his one! You will regret selling at less than 500 sat!!

Difficulty hardly crashed with the bad news, so there is still as many miners and people supporting the project. Time to earn an easy 10 x return by buying RIC now at these outrageously low prices and hold them patiently before it returns to the already scandalous 500 sat level. RIC market cap must at least match XPM's.

Some people might already doubled their fortune by buying RIC at 71 sat... Who knows if it was just a dump & pumper...

Guytp, can you contact cryptoid and CoinMarketCap so they add your exchange?

But now the price is totally disappointing. RIC must recover to the 2 k - 4 k sat range and more! Instead, it hits new lows despite it halvened and tons of great news the last weeks...... Sellers, once again, do not fill these lowball buy orders, sell your RIC smartly!

Seriously, as usual no any news and no progress. I guess that I just have to consider my invested money in NVO lost now.
I have a nice compiled update I'm writing on the project right now. Right now all that can be said is patience. The project is delayed  but the team is still working on it even though they don't talk much publicly.

I would like to believe you, but after 1 month, you have yet to publish that compiled update. When will that paperwork be done, this should not take forever! Is Veserus really ready, and just waiting for that paperwork? Is the wallet 1.2 still only 30 % completed, or did they progress? Has the validator development ever begun? Can they realistically fullfil their promise to deliver their DEX before 2019, or are they as usual experiencing new and new difficulties which will delay even more the DEX?

People like Cool4y do not have the best reputation and behaviour in the community, but they still get some points.
