BTC holding it's own trend?

Watching the markets closely and I find it interesting that while BTC has been trending up slightly over the past week, the majority of other alts are down or just wavering...could this be why BTC is trending up? Everyone is focusing on that? I thought it was interesting as normally we see everything move in tandem together but this time I'm not sure whether to invest in any alts given they seem to be going their own way...

Re: When I am able to see profit this year?

I feel you, somedays I watch the market and I just get overwhelmed by the red, I didn't buy at ATH but higher prices than these, best thing to do is either wait or if you feel brave enough, do some day trading, hopping from one upward trend to the next, I would trade back to ETH if you want to cash out of a coin with the return it's given you - ETH is fairly stable these days

I've been waiting and watching, haven't invested again as everything goes up momentarily then down so waiting to see when the last wave will hit and then the break for up...it's a long waiting game  Embarrassed

I have 4 coins I have bought outright, I plan to keep on adding - for purchased coins, I think around or less than 10 is good (for myself personally), and joining airdrops + bounties to fill in any other coins that I might want to have in my wallet is never a bad thing

Re: Do you truly believe in cryptocurrency

Fiat is an old world currency, I can see crypto as the future, the world is adverse to quick change though so it might take a while but look at the coin industry, there are hundreds of coins - what happens if those are all for nothing? That would be a huge crash, I like to believe that there is no way crypto can truly fail. Corrections and prices may change but the coins aren't going away.

Heading for another crash?

Not meaning to spread worry but watching everything go down again, I have been kicking myself for missing out and picking the wrong coin to buy on the last dip and I could have made $$$ on bitcoin with the bounce back, do you think there is a chance there will be another big dip coming is it this just a small wave? Not that I want to lose money on my other coins but if there is a chance to have another dip like we just had, I would be ok with that, as everything proved they can come back (maybe not to the same height they were just a month ago, but came up enough that people can capitalize)...still a newbie so learning the ropes and tricks of reading and guessing the crypto game.

I just remember reading some speculation news that might be a big cash out for the new year but I posted wondering if there would be any truth to a possible dip :/ hopefully not but as you pointed out, many events can impact the market and it's very volatile at times so nothing can really be predicted for sure

With the Chinese New year coming, who believes that the crypto market with go down again? Speculating on whether to hold out to purchase more of some altcoins such as VIB, XVG, and looking at other possibilities

Newbie and market caps

So trying to self-educate and I've been reading a lot on this forum for a couple weeks now but looking for some specific answers;

I have been trying to understand market cap and I get how to determine if a 100x increase is feasable or not but I'm confused where there are a lot of members who say hodl a certain coin for long-term gains and price is under 0.10 with a market cap of 1 billion - doesn't that mean it will be very hard to see a huge return though growth may not be out of the picture? If it's already at 1 billion, that doesn't mean it will reach the prices of BTC, correct? Sorry if I sound dumb, just trying to put information together to make sense of how to evaluate coins
