"Official End of Mt Gox" ?
With "official" you must mean "unofficial". And with "End" you must mean "possible end".
I shouldn't spend so much time in the speculation forum ... nothing here makes any sense.  Roll Eyes

Seriously, Mt.Gox ?!

I see the price in EUR falling to the 630s, my order gets processed, price goes down to 625.12 EUR.
Then Mt.Gox rolls back the trades and we're back at 660 EUR and my trade(s) never happened. Saw it happen 3 times already.
I have NO idea how many BTC and how much fiat I have right now. And even after 30 minutes, some orders are still "Pending". Not cool.

PS: It just happened again. Down to 625.12 EUR, then back to 660.00 EUR. #MtGoxLoop
The trade @ 631.24 is mine.

Re: Unauthorized withdrawal on Mt. Gox

As you all guessed, I'm not using two-factor authentication / yubikey.

Did you mean to say you weren't or that you still aren't?

Because unless you can say with certainty that you aren't using a machine that has been compromised, then even after changing your password your remaining coins are no safer now than before.   Get 2FA.  If you don't have a smartphone or other second device that can run it then move the funds to an EWallet that uses SMS-based 2FA.

I wasn't, but I am now.
I guess many of us just have to lose bitcoins or money, until we realize that a 15-20 characters/letters/symbols password isn't enough and that two-factor authentication IS necessary with Mt. Gox. (and any other trading sites)  Sad

But as I've lost confidence in Mt. Gox, maybe I'll even transfer my coins somewhere else, and then later transfer them back to sell them...

As you all guessed, I'm not using two-factor authentication / yubikey.

But nobody else knows/knew my username/password combination and I'm the only one using my computer, from home.

Geolocation of the IP (that requested the withdrawal), leads to Egypt. I'm in Europe.

Why exactly 60 bitcoins, why not all 129 ?

Unauthorized withdrawal on Mt. Gox
by
iBug
on 26/02/2013, 12:50:51 UTC
I just found out that there was an unauthorized withdrawal of exactly 60 BTC from my Mt. Gox accountSad

I could still access my account and change my password. Weirdly (but luckily), only 60 BTC were transferred - which is about half of my bitcoins.
I know that at current market price, 60 BTC isn't a lot for some of you - but they are of high value for me, a student without regular income.

Now the big question is: Was my password stolen (if so, why weren't over 120 bitcoins stolen, but only 60 ?) or did Mt. Gox make a mistake ?  Angry
(previous password: 15 upper- and lowercase letters, symbols and numbers)

I contacted Mt. Gox, but they're only saying that I should report it to the police and send them a copy of the police report. I think you can all understand, that I'm pissed right now...

Has the same happened to any of you before ? I fear there is absolutely no way that I'll ever get those 60 BTC back... right ?

Might never go back to $30.
And you might get hit by a meteor while you're laying on the ground convulsing after getting hit by a lightning while you were celebrating winning the lottery.
There's nothing wrong with gw4tt's answer. Sorry if you're not satisfied by his answer, but his answer is 100% correct ...

You're asking for "the earliest, the latest, the average, and the best guess date when it says Bitcoin will reach 30 bucks again right now" ?

earliest guess date: today, in a few hours
latest guess date: unfortunately, never
average guess date: some time in the future
best guess date: /

Yes, I'm trolling around. But my point is: How should anyone in here be able to predict the future ? You just can't do that.

If you want the $/BTC ratio to reach 30, I can tell you how to do that. Just deposit $100,000 in a trading market with a very low volume and buy all offered Bitcoins up to 30 $/BTC. Et voilà ... job done.

There's no need for a name yet. Let's discuss about it when the $/BTC ratio reaches 1,000 USD.
And when the ratio reaches 1 million, the 1e-8 will be 1 USD cent ($0.01).

Bitcoin is not looking half bad...

Half bad ?
50% bad, 50% good. Interpretation ? 50% price will go up, 50% price will go down ?

Sorry for trolling  Lips sealed

Bitcoin conference is about to start soon. Such events don't enter your calculations, or do they ?
I'm guessing that the Bitcoin conference is not having the big, immediate effect on the $/BTC rate that many users in this forum are expecting and maybe hoping for. Price will only go up if people are willing to buy at the current price. As many traders are hoping that the Bitcoin price moves towards $20, they won't sell at 12 or 13. Bitcoin prices will only raise, if really, really big investors give the Bitcoin market a chance and pump lots of money into the market. I'm sure if we will see a really strong rally during the Bitcoin conference or the first days after it.

Although, I personally "hope" for a steady raise towards the $20-$25 area for the end of the year as I purchased lots of Bitcoins at $19.
Yes, I must stay optimistic, what else could I do ? I'm not buying at 19$ and selling at $11. LOL

Re: News: Das Bitcoin-Experiment könnte schon vorüber sein
by
iBug
on 10/08/2011, 09:23:24 UTC

Yes, that's the address where you should send your Bitcoins to. It will take a few hours and then they will be added to your Mt. Gox account.

Gratulation !
