ETH definitely did it. It actually revolutionized the concept of cryptocurrency from being solo currency to creating excellent platform for other applications based on blockchain. First and foremost it's smart contracts. But the whole concept of ICOs was actually revolutionized by Ethereum. In my opinion Ethereum brought cryptoworld to mass adoption.

The cryptos may still survive in this dumb market era. However, we cannot guarantee or predict for every crypto. One crypto is rising right now and sometimes another crypto is dead. This is what happens to the market today. I think that some good coins can survive if it has a great team and project idea.

It happens with multiple project first they pump then they dump to good extent below their ico price.it is generally bcz of whales and early seller who just want initial profit then jump to next project ,afterward bounty seller fud make it more worse but if you are patient then many coin regain their ico price in few month.

You should do it especially now while they're still somehow low, even if soon thier price might drop off, it's still better to do it now, as you don't really know if the price will or won't go down. That's why i think it's better buy ETH/BTC now, than wait and wake up when it's late. Buy when its low and sell when its high.
