Re: Best way to profit from BTC going up is with FUTURES!

I hate to sound like a total nard-dawg, but I don't really understand futures.  I kind of want to play along, but I literally do not know what a futures contract is or how to use it.

Found an old thread with same issue >> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=279364.0 That time people got their coins credited in 3-5 days.

I'm fairly optimistic then, I hope that we all receive out coins.

I sent 365 LTC into my vircurex deposit address about 16 hours ago.  No sign of it in Vircurex despite having over 300 confirmations.

I posted this on reddit to see if anyone else is having the same issues.  I'm glad I found this thread, this appears to be a very serious problem.

I've been running my 4 module version Avalons at 350mhz using the stock PSU. Is this bad?

I have had 7 Avalons at 350mhz running on the stock PSU for about a week. I did have to replace one PSU, but otherwise they seem to be running fine.

In my previous experience when a PSU goes bad, the whole machine just shuts off, after replacing the power supply everything is good to go and no extra harm was done.

Am I taking a large gamble of the PSUs failing and potentially harming the equipment?

I read in the Batch 3 thread that a four module Avalon @ 350mhz runs at 930 Watts at the wall. I think the Avalons only ship with 850w PSUs. So obviously what I'm doing is probably risky, I'm just wondering how risky??

I would say you are very lucky. We have 2 4 module avalons with stock PSUs, and both are very unstable at anything over 300 MHz. Replaced one so far with a 1200w corsair PSU, and it runs solid at 350MHz static overclock. In fact it runs better with less error on static 350 than with 350 as a start point and --avalon-auto option.

Not sure why yours are OK, but consider yourself lucky!

was there any special way that you overclocked?  I just got my 4 module running w a 1250 W OCZ PSU yesterday and I was happy that she was up and running.  Haven't had time to mess around with OC.

Did anyone at all received a 4 module without PSU unit yet?

I did, and I can't seem to get the damn thing to power up.  I've tried two brand new PSU.  AX 850 and an OCZ 1250.  Both of them wont even power the fans.  I don't understand why, I have my buddy helping me, we have even opened up my batch 2 to compare PSU.  I can connect into the server but i can not get her to power up.

Has anyone had the same problem?

I figured it out, i had 4xPCIe (6+2pin) cables plugged into the all 4 of the slots on the PDU.  I needed to plug in 2xPCIe (6+2pin) and 2xCPU (4+4pin) into the 4 slots.  Now she is purring like a sexy little kitten.

Just got my tracking number.  Order 51xx placed and paid on March 25.  Qty 4, 4 module, no PSU units.

I had selected EMS but got a DHL tracking number.  Should I care?

I just checked my account and it says COMPLETED for batch 3 - 4 module order # 60XX.  This includes a DHL Tracking number.  I ordered EMS as well.  I don't care if it ships DHL, in fact I'm glad, DHL shipped my batch 2 very quickly!

2 post member. Be aware of unusual escrows.

What is the recommended escrow method?  I'm interested in the buyer and the seller side of things.  I'm waiting for a batch 3 Avalon (4 module) to arrive and it was a 4 person, equal investment to buy it in march.

We took a vote and decided that it is in our best interest to sell the miner.  I don't want to post the sale ad until I physically have it (this could be a while).  I just want to be ready when the time comes.  Is there a recommended escrow method that this forum uses effectively?

I'm from Michigan, but I'll fly to California and pay $3,001 for each!

Re: Avalon SCAM? Listing of people scammed here
by

I agree with Yifu here, and you guys are way too harsh. I've sold maybe 30k orders b2c and it drains the life out of you. The only transactions you here are the bad ones, and in the btc world that must be 10fold.

There is seriously no way to describe how b2c makes you feel when its bad.

If Yifu shipped instead of mining with customer gear, people wouldn't be nearly as upset.
Batch 1 dudes have gotten raped by Yifu's failure to deliver, his failure to keep his word, yet the victims are supposed to be congenial?
If they are pissed, it is no one's fault but their own?

Bulls#!+

And what about the other 100s who have made $100k a unit? The thanks you give to him for not taking literally as much network as he wanted, and again for B2 and 3. He gave away his own chance to be rich so you guys could, yet you QQ because of a few orders with logistics problems.
What about the folks that missed out on $100k because of whatever reason?
Yifu could give a shit less about them.

If he effed me out of those earnings, then had the balls to treat me the way he treats folks that dare question him, I would be awful pissed. Might not act in the most Christian manner, you know?

You need to get off of the Avalon vs BFL schtick.
Incompetence is rampant in both.
Both exude scamminess.
Both have spokesmen that act like their shit don't stink and that tneir customers are Little People.
Let Them Eat Cake!

Well, we came with Cake and Cock, and we're all out of cake.

I don't know who you are or what you're about, but your rage post is actually very funny to me.  I'm not laughing at your misfortune, I'm laughing at your response to it.  I'm sorry to hear that you are currently out of cake.

just my 2mBTC of calculation...

http://btcinvest.net/bitcoin-mining-profit-calculator.php?diff=21335329.113983&dcosts=1400&diff_mincrease=40&blpbtc=25&dhsmhs=10000&btcusd_mincrease=10&btcusd=74.60&dpowcon=30&dleadtime=2&pcost=0.25&calcweeks=52&action=calc

Please fix power consumption and diff increasements on your own.
40% / month are more than likely.

compare btc buy-in and mining buy-in results in USD as well as in BTC.

disclaimer: I am AM shareholder and own some UBE soon.

There is one critical flaw in that calculator.

The difficulty is increased at 30 day intervals. Even if set at 40% that is not reflective of reality.

If you decrease the interval to 14 days and 20% for that period, you'll see the end number change quite drastically.

I know, because I created an excel sheet to do this. I included the ability to change the period. The frequency of the difficulty change makes a dramatic difference in the overall sum of btc collected over the course of a year.

The calculator is (really good) but it doesn't have a realistic frequency for difficulty changes. So the numbers it gives are drastically different than what it should be.

any chance I could look at that spreadsheet?

Re: Where is registered Avalon company? SCAM?
by
iammagicmike
on 10/07/2013, 11:24:42 UTC
First of all, let me say I had big love for Avalons and trust, however not anymore...

Ordered 2 February in some of first of batch 2. 2 avalons Paid with walletbit...

I have no reply to any of my tickets, only one reply at 4 th february telling me all is fine you will receive items. I have now stoppped to hope I will receive them someday...Anyway I even not sure avalon have the right adress for delivery as their website was buggy when we ordered in first...

So Does somebody know if Avalon is a registered company? At least I can try to complaint somewhere as they dont seem willing to reply us as customers.

However I can still to open a complain directly against avalon owner as his real name is well know in communauty. I'm looking on this side for now.

Actually even if Avalon delivered to most. Still some people are ignored while we talk about thousands USD for each. So I think AVALON deserve a scam tag until they fix all problem they have with some customers. A scam is something which dont deliver it promise to all people who paid for. This is actually the case for Avalon as me and many people are stuck in the limbo...

Bitsyncom / Avalon is not a scam simply because you have not received your unit.  Many others have.  You are going about this the wrong way, and it will probably make things worse for you.

+1

I'm not saying OP doesn't have a reason to be upset, I'm just saying that Avalon is not a scam until it's been a year of douchebag comments and no deliveries.

Re: [Avalon Asic] trade-in Thread
by
iammagicmike
on 10/07/2013, 11:17:58 UTC
Since there is no personal info for the trade-in till today, GMP is considering the hardware sended for trade-in as lost.
GMP is a crowdmining project, the ignorance of the Avalon Team is affecting not just one person.
Yifu you are a scamer, even if you deliver now, you scamed all trade-in guys - period.

We all was very patient with you, but you dnt even think about to talk to us. This is sad.
Thats why i have to request a scamer tag for Yifu (Bitsyncom) and the Avalon Team.

while i agree that the trade ins have been wrongfully neglected, I absolutely disagree that Yifu should be labeled a scammer.  If he was a scammer then he wouldn't be delivering any Avalons at all.  Again, I think you trade in people have been fucked really really hard, but Yifu is no BFL Josh.

Considering that we know Avalon is mining before they ship out to their customers, I wouldn't find it unreasonable to send you a batch 3 Avalon with a cold storage wallet containing X BTC.  I don't know exactly what X should equal, but I'm sure you can come up with a reasonable estimation.  So the question is, what # of BTC would satisfy you?

Make a low assumption - the amount of BTC you would have mined with only the FPGA between the time that you sent it back and today.
Make a high assumption - the amount of BTC you would have mined if you received the batch 2 as early as someone with a non-trade-in confirmed receiving shipment.

DHL reuses waybills all the time. I had to pick through 5 on my last avalon order.

That's good to know, I had a very slight fear that some sneaky Indian was running off with my Avalon.

Avalon|DHL tracking emailed to me|Singapore to India|Anyone else get this?
by
iammagicmike
on 09/07/2013, 17:40:28 UTC
This morning I received an email with a DHL tracking number.  Initially, I thought that this might be a tracking number for the Batch 3 Avalon (currently not delivered) I ordered in March.

When I checked the link, I noticed that this was the same tracking number that I received for my Batch 2 Avalon (received late June).  I reviewed my account page to find that Avalon had not updated my Batch 3 order with any tracking info (as they did with batch 2).

The tracking info shows a shipment from Singapore to India.  I noticed that another Avalon preorder-user commented with a similar DHL tracking issue and location.

I don't know what this all means, but I wanted to know if anyone else had received this?  I'm wondering if it is unique to Avalon users.
