Hi Everyone,

Aynone here hosting GPU miners with Onwatt.io?
$55/kw/month.
Cost of hosting with them, are cheaper than running at home.

Any one?

Thank you so much P00P135! It works now.
You are right. all my gpu were bios modified.
I have turned off the miner for 6 months.
I guess I forgot the patcher Smiley

Btw, you guys still mining? I turn off the miner back in beginning of June simple because,
it is too hot. in just 6 months crypto market changed alot. it is not profitable again.

if you've modified the bios you might need to run pixel clock patch for the GPU's to be recognized, or manually add drivers through device manager.

Help: troubleshooting GPU driver windows 10
by
icehouse
on 08/12/2018, 02:12:14 UTC
Hi Guru,

I built two amd (rx570) gpu based miners last year on open air frame rig. each rig has 6 gpu.
I turn it off during summer as it is too hot to run at home. then I bought 4U server case,
looking to put it in mining friendly datacenter.
I disassembled the frame rig and reassemble in new 4U case.
But, in control panel, device manager shows exclamation mark code 34.
I uninstall driver using DDU, reinstall driver. switch gpu/riser,
check wiring, nothing work.

Is there anyway I can troubleshooting GPU driver problem systematically ?
like where to find the log?

Thanks,
Ralph

Re: DIY FPGA Mining rig for any algorithm with fast ROI

Thanks ilia_2s

If it will work, it means as long as that coins has stratum mining pool.
It will works. Correct?

I don't mind to pay dev fee. I m currently mining on claymore nanopool.
Since senseless said, they will burn key into the board.
It means whitefire990's bitstream will be encrypted. I just wondering
Can we run other bitstream from other developers? Which is
Not encrypted by senseless key?

Let's say: there are 3 coins C1, C2, C3 and
their corresponding mining pool are P1, P2, P3
And these theee coins are hashing with the same algorithm H.

Now we bought this FPGA and downloaded the H algo bitstream and miner released
from whitefire990. Can we configure the miner to mine any of the 3 coins on their pool?

Yes, your statement is correct. But note that there is no mining software was released for this board.

Re: Best listed electricity company stock to buy
by

The thing with these elecricity companies is the lack of expansion, which pretty much means that they have a monopoly in the area they're in and they're not going to expand more to get more customers -- unless more building occurs where they are. Due to these, these stocks don't have much volatility. These stocks are income stocks, meaning that they pretty much just pay out a good amount of their earnings in dividends to people who own their stocks.

I'd rather buy an index fund then bet on different companies.

what about more and more people buying electric car?

I don't think investing in utilities as a way to anticipate demand because of mining or bitcoin use, BUT utility stocks are pretty good on their own because they generally pay really good dividends.

One of my favorites is American Electric Power (AEP), which currently is paying around 3.8% as a dividend.  They provide power to parts of the midwest if I'm not mistaken.  Eversource (ES) is another one.  They're out of Texas but provide power to parts of New England, and their yield is around 3.5%.  Even if you didn't benefit from anything related to bitcoin's power consumption you'd still be earning a decent dividend income.  The downside is that you won't see much in terms of capital gains (probably).

You said you know about Con Ed, and that's a great stock as well.  One of the biggest and best utility plays there is.

Thank you Pharma,
3.8% is not bad

I haven't looked at the data recently but I bought some time ago Emerson Electric shares. It's a global industry manufacturer and a Dividend King. It is a must in a diversified portfolio.

Thank you Don,

I am looking for electricity company with good dividend

Hi guru,

crypto mining consume electricity,
electric cars consume electricity,

I don't know which coins (btc or eth) will win the games or
which automaker (tesla, or gm) will win the games

but pretty sure demand of elelctricity will skyrocketing in the future.

I live in NYC area, I know con edison and pseg. but not many large scale mining farm here as
electricity is expensive here.

Sincerely, asking for the best listed electricity company to buy a few share per month.

Thanks everyone!

i heard that someone can lower the power consumption to 720w for 6 x rx570 at 165mhs.

how they do that?

Hi guru,

I am running amd rx570 x6 on windows 10. Did bios mod to undervolt to reduce power consumption.
now get to 850w at 174mhs.

I would like to disable as many windows service as i can to save power consumption from windows system.
can everyone post a service?

Thanks a lot!

Re: question on finding nonce
by
icehouse
on 20/04/2018, 13:12:18 UTC
Agree, as the nonce is like randomly located between 0 to unit32_max.
when miner divide the work to each gpu,
does it divide in a way that they won't overlap?

Most likely. What the point of computing twice the same thing by the way?

I have a gpu miner with mixed gpu. 1080, 1060 6GB and 1060 3GB.
if miner divide the nonce evenly to each gpu, the chance of finding the nonce will be also the same for each gpu.
however, i can see 1080 finds more share than 1060. as 1080 is much faster.
I suspect each thread are trying the nonce randomly.

Re: question on finding nonce

First, yes, mining is running the nonce from 0 to uint32_max, to find the value that the resulted block hash is less than the target.
It's not random because it won't help anything, you still have to "randomly" try every possible nonce value.

For multiple GPU, it's just like multithreaded processing, the miner software will divide the work to smaller tasks and distribute to each gpu.

Thanks Hushan!

question on finding nonce
by
icehouse
on 19/04/2018, 21:06:13 UTC
Hi Guru,

I have a 7 gpu miner. I don't have money to invest in more hardware but would like to improve the miner software.

As I know each gpu is finding the nonce to meet a block difficult. A nonce is a 32 bits number.
gpu sequential loop through the 32 bits numbers + block items -> hash?
or it randoms pick a number to do the hash?

When there are multiple GPU, how miner coordinate the GPUs to find a nonce effectively?

strange network problem
by
icehouse
on 18/04/2018, 14:47:33 UTC
Hi Miners,

My router won't let me download files. but youtube works.

when working on miners, I need to down drivers.
I was watching chrome's download speed. It keeps decrease until zero
and just stop there. click pause and resume won't help.

I tried different browser like ie, firefox. same.
I tried to download from different computers. same.

End up I found that I need to reboot my router. once rebooted, it works.
but only work for a while then problem come back again.

My router is WNDR4500v3. updated firmware but still same problem.

Any help? Thanks!
