In case of bitcoins also there are mining costs. If you see recent trends, price never dropped to below average mining costs.

Yes, they are for increasing their profits. It is highest in case of alt coins and least with bitcoins.

.Even if it reaches $ 20000, it will be only 2.5 times returns from the current price levels. That is not very good returns and alt coins like Ripple will give better than this.
