Any coin that is 100% only being held and not used is suspect and only for speculation. Btc, eth, ltc, eos, trx, bnb, xrp (I guess), bat and monero are ones that come to mind that are being held and used. I'm obviously aware there are more, but not much.

I converted 2/3 of my entire portfolio into BNB a while ago. It's got so many positive things going for it, I really think it can break into the top 3 marketcap eventually. Being on the #1 exchange just solidifies its position pretty much. That's not mentioning things like token burn, binance chain ICOs, actual working product and use case, DEX coming, etc.

There are currently around 32 million bitcoin wallets. The last thing we should be worried about is the amount of people in the space right now. Specially considering a lot of those wallets are the second or third of a singular person. If crypto is to be as big as most of us see it there are at least a billion more users yet to come. And even if that number ends up at a hundred million that would cause a bull market that would eclipse 2017 December into oblivion.

These two coins, and many others have strong potential in the long run (if Ethereum can scale).

Ethereum is used for gas on its smartcontract platform (its oil).

XRP is used to transfer and convert value from one unit to another unit.

The key for (store of) value is adoption by usage. No asset will be able to survive long term speculation without a fungible base in demand for at least some other use case. For BTC its usage is limited to trading & mining = translated in no productive usage at all...

However, many of the other cryptocurrencies is gradually being adopted and this is the future of crypto.

My current plan is to buy small amounts (probably sub-$100 each) of all of the top 20-30 cryptocurrencies, except for the stablecoins, and then HODL. The idea behind this is to emulate an ETF without having to rely on a fund manager or algorithmic trading software.

Another dump? Who cares - we're all battlescarred now... I literally feel nothing anymore. Not even a trade that nets me a years pay cheque makes me blink twice now. Thanks to crypto trading I can now fully trade with no emotion.

It double topped, lots of people using TA were expecting a dump.

I wasn't expecting it to dump quite this much though, as I was thinking 4k would act as a support level...then again, if you look at the minute chart to see the breakdown, it looks like it going under 4k is what triggered quick liquidations.

Bakkt will probably not be any type of savior. They are offering a one day physically settled BTC future as their primary product. Their goal right now is to get the simplest form of a typical ICE future (they are owned by the ICE, they tend to do physical futures) functioning and regulated and then work on scaling up.

They won't make any actual impact anytime soon, however, the products they are trying to bring up could amount to some small positive sentiment as a signal to the ecosystem about how the US securities and futures regulatory bodies will handle crypto.

I am looking at XLM's previous big runs and there were always some positive momentum before the big run. For example, in the one week that preceded the last big run, there was a slow incremental increases in SATs over a span of 3-7 days before it went up like 35-40%. And in the previous runs, we saw something like this as well. I suspect that there is no point in getting into XLM right now if you are a trader and you can just wait until it shows recovery and perhaps buy stop limit higher than like 10% of its current price. I seriously think that if XLM breaks 3000 SATs, it will not be a fake out so you don't have to worry about losing value from the stop limit buys.

I think that's the biggest issue right now there's a general lack of confidence in the market. The fact it didn't dump massively on the ETF news does make it seem like we're at the bottom but you have a market where a good chunk of the people have been hammered over the past year and people are gun shy.

I think LTC will be one of the most talked about coin in the 1st half of 2019 due to the halving. Most seems to predict that LTC will really go on a run such that we look at its prices right now and kick ourselves that we did not buy when it was around 30 dollars. The timing still seems a bit early for me. But it is still something to think about.

BNB has been performing well and I think it has to do with the DEX set to launch in Q1. I believe it will continue to perform well, but it has gone up pretty much consistently without any correction for like almost 2 months now.

XLM is close to its 10 months low (in SATs) in Binance. It has now been bleeding for more than 2 months starting from 11/20/2018. Right now, it is still tracking close to its past behaviors (i.e. 2+ months of bleeding and then sudden rise), but I would be wary if this continues on for more than a couple of weeks. Perhaps this time, it might be a more prolonged descent.

The 2017 bullrun was from a mixture of the ICO craze, speculation, and the following FOMO. The next run will most likely be from adoption, use cases, and STOs. A lot of blockchain projects have a long ways to go before another run. Software development takes time, especially technology that's only been out for so long.
