Update 12th Oct 2018:
1. To celebrate the achievements of 50K users, the first 50K TAU users will receive 2000 TAU as a gift. This is a lovely gift from TAU foundation!

2. We are removing TAU foundation’s participation in TAU-X, where we will no-longer allocate 60K TAucoin into TAU-Exchange every round. TAU-X should only be a free-market for all users to seamlessly exchange value, without any influences from the foundation team.

3. As we are no-longer allocating 60K into TAU-X, all TAUcoins can only be obtained via Bounties and Faucet. Existing users are required to make contributions if they would like to earn more TAU.

4. We are canceling “visit-TAU” bounty to increase the value of TAU for all current users.

Upon further analysis, it has become our decision to disqualify Lodyman based on Rule No,2
Users are required to challenge Proof of Transaction’s consensus mechanism, with no limitation to proofs, arguments and ideas. Mathematical models are welcomed.

All votes for Lodyman will not be counted and the debate vote will end on the assigned date.

It is a tech and math driven topic. One cannot simply understand the concept without understanding consensus mechanism.

Imagine when people paying for a certain product, and the display price of BTC changes every time he walks into the store. In this case, I think people will not feel comfortable with BTC until the price is stable.

Try your best to participate a few tech-focused projects. Most of the projects are very friendly during their beginning stage, and being pro-active and contribute can help you in building your crypto connection.

The risk level is very high if you invest in any crypto-projects without knowing deeply about it's technology. Newbie should pay more attention in the understanding technology, which is what i am trying to do too Wink

I agree on that it’s the Scams in ICO that damaged Bitcoin. Quite a number of outsiders are affected by statements like Crypto Scam, ICO scam etc, that eventually link their thinking with Bitcoin.

If there wasn’t any scam ICO, more people could’ve got into crypto world.

BTC for 2018. POW is quite strong at the moment, and its value its not high enough for any governments to plan to attack it.

If considering a long period of time, i would say new consensus mechanism is required. Right now i didn't see any projects that could possibly fight against btc, apart from the one i in  Cool .

Can we post any arguments we want regardless or must we submit only 1?

You are not limited to only one, feel free to post any arguments that you think is valid.

Does it have to be the same or can it be a completely different argument?

Evaluation, and furthering a previously made argument is always welcomed. However, if the argument/evaluation goes into the final voting session, the final prize will go to the first user that brought it up in this thread.

To encourage everyone in sharing their thinking, TAU foundation will externally reward users that propose interesting evaluation. So please feel free to share whats in your mind!

Re: POW vs. POS
by

on 04/09/2018, 09:34:29 UTC
So you believe bitcoin is not secure, but it IS.
IMO, Bitcoin (POW) "IS" secure because government hasn't really try to take down the network yet. Any hardware related consensus mechanism will be overtaken by government in the future, just because they have the most resources.

I definitely think that proof-of-work is going to be phased out soon, though proof-of-stake isn't much better, they all require specialist hardware in order to run their networks, which is not something we should implement for later generation blockchains, a waste of energy can't be the best way to secure a blockchain. I notice that the major blockchains are starting to shift towards POS as it's definitely more environmentally friendly than POW, but it also increases centralization and the risk of a vector based attack so we should look for even better alternatives in future.

What about Proof of Transaction? I am in this new project that created a new consensus mechanism, it seems to be an alternative from POW and POS. For anyone who is interested, there is a Proof-of-Transaction debate bounty, debating to be the best consensus mechanism.

It is very difficult for individuals to learn about blockchain technology, especially when they do not have technical related background.
If you happen to teach individuals about blockchian, i believe the most efficient way is to let him question you. Let questions lead the way.

Re: Winner of this year, ETH or BTC?
by

on 30/08/2018, 23:16:38 UTC
In the perspective of use case, cryptocurrency hasn't really been very successful yet. The war between cryptocurrency still continues, where people will decide on only one cryptocurrency as the main trading mechanism. Looking at the condition, the market seems to trust BTC more than ETH, which results in a constant increase of BTC price, and decrease of ETH price.

If the momentum continues, I believe BTC will be the winner.

Re: Bitcoin cannot be a global currency
by
ikealyou
on 27/08/2018, 08:52:28 UTC
Global mining is concentrated in the hands of a few. The maintenance and development of bitcoin is concentrated in the hands of few digital farmers. The influence of virtual currency is concentrated in the hands of a few big v.

They are the new army, the new bureaucracy, the new emperor. Are these people trustworthy?

The emergence of BTC is a technological advance in the history of human currency. It makes up for the deficiency of the existing monetary system and should also promote the reform of the existing monetary system.

IMO, Bitcoin cannot become the future global currency because of its consensus mechanism, Proof of Work.

Despite if the current state of POW mining is concentrated or otherwise, it is too easy for any one of G20 to convert nuclear power into electricity and destroy the whole POW network. Moreover, G20 can be incentivised just to protect the value and liquidity of their fiat currency.

In this case, POS seems to be more secured when it comes to protecting the network from G20 attack.

I would say look for coins with technology innovations. One of my project TAUcoin, has a great innovation in its consensus mechanism, Proof of Transaction.

Re: What if Government bans Bitcoins?
by
ikealyou
on 24/08/2018, 19:20:00 UTC
It is very easy for a country to stop Bitcoin's network in my opinion. Countries with Nuclear power plant could easily convert electricity into hashing power and out-power the whole blockchain community.
In this case, i would say there is nothing we could do, this is the weakness of Proof of Work consensus. Perhaps we might need a new consensus mechanism that possibly protects the network from government attack.
