Re: [ANN] CommunityCoin (COMM) Fair & FREE Distribution | Pure PoS | Join Community

Hello

i just completed the application and want to state, why i want to join the community. after i learned about cryptocurrencies i got really interested in them. sadly the fact that most of them require miners really bothers me. this has mostly to do with the impact on the enviroment this energy wasting process has. i really see a great future in this coin, not only because of the environmental friendliness but also because of the way the coins are distributed. no "airdorp" or random giveaways. insted the dev or devs choose the best people to push this coin and i would love to be a part of it.

Re: why so many abandoned coins?

The way I see it is there's a lot of info on how to clone coins but very little on supporting them. Cloning is the easy part.

Getting updates working on existing blockchains, doing successful hard forks and being able to regularly compile updated working wallets on the main O/S's separates the men from the boys.

Too many devs give up at the first hurdle as soon as their coins fall victim to 'difficulty issues' i.e. pool-hopping or they realize that getting on exchanges is a lot harder than they imagined. Also, keeping miners interested enough to keep the blockchain ticking over could be another reason so many give up.

yes. i think that most of them are not very skilled programmers. they manage to clone a coin and as soon as the first problems come up they don't know what to do. just look at the kgw that a lot of coins needed, but some could not implement it and ended up merging the code from another altcoin.

Yes, the second "crisis draft" document did clearly mention launching 100 great new coins to help make Gox solvent again.

Re: CARBONCOIN: The Completely Carbon Neutral Cryptocurrency

great. greenwashing. that is going to fix it in the long run.

Perhaps you'd find your messages were conveyed more efficiently if you used something other than punctuated fragments. There is no greenwashing going on here, there is a story backed by an enormous carbon offsetting project. Thanks for your interest though.

planting tree instead of fixing the real problem is called greenwashing. it is better than nothing but not "carbon neutral". just an easy way to be "green".

Re: why so many abandoned coins?
by
ilccoin
on 05/04/2014, 15:36:22 UTC
Every couple days a new coin comes out that gets abandoned by the dev. I am having trouble understanding the thought process of this. My guess is it is either one of these options.
  • The dev is extremely lazy and/or has so many other coins that they cannot keep up with them. The plan is to release a coin, hope they get support and come back days/weeks later and dump a bunch.
  • It is actually a well thought out plan to get people to waste their hash on tons of junk coins while the big miners mine all the "good" coins.

Could there be any reason I am not seeing?

that is exactly what is going on. some don't even have the endurance to get it onto an exchange. sometimes they even use the same username to announce a few new coins thats how lazy they are. and if the community does not jump on their new creation in an instant, they just leave it behind and creat the next one. i don't think this will end soon, because it is so easy to create a new coin and so many try to be the first to mine it.

most of them die after they hit the first exchange. the dev dumps his coin and leaves the community behind. they try to hang on as long as they can. some go even so far and try to "revive" a coin that has been left to die, thats how desperate some are. even if they manage to find new devs to keep working the stigma of the "dumped coin" remains and at that time the price is most likely very low and impossible to turn around.

Re: The (Only) Crypto Rush Solution
by
ilccoin
on 05/04/2014, 15:24:57 UTC
YOU NEED TO FIND AN INVESTOR TO BUY A LARGE PORTION OF OWNERSHIP IN CRYPTORUSH IN EXCHANGE FOR DEPOSITING ENOUGH BTC, LTC, AND ALL OTHER CURRENTLY "MISSING" COINS TO BRING THE BALANCES BACK TO WHERE THEY SHOULD BE. PERIOD.

this will never happen. no one trusts the exchange anymore and no one can change that

Those with btc or alts stuck inside would wish to find a "solution". It is apparent for those who are not involved, that the only solution is to shut it down. The exchange is hardly functional if you can only sell btc/ltc to buy new alts, while the sellers of those new alts will not receive any btc/ltc in return.

Can anyone get their coins out anymore?

I heard you could swap your coins into some other alt and withdraw that a few days ago. Have they locked everything so you cannot withdraw ant alt now?

i managed to withdraw everything as reddcoins. worked surprisingly well.

i think it is too much supply.
