Feathercoin has all the elements needed to be a very successful coin. I believe the user base will grow substantially in a short time.

...
tar xf /home/miner/AMD-APP-SDK-v2.8-lnx64.tgz
...
The exact line that the problems occur are:
Code:
tar xf /home/miner/AMD-APP-SDK-v2.8-lnx64.tgz
...

You need to use the command this way:

tar -xf /the/full/link/to/your/file.tgz

Make sure you have the correct file location, and make sure you have a dash in front of xf and it should work!

Then there's the fact that they actually are shipping products (twitter.com/bfl_news) albeit not in the quantity or manner they initially predicted.  Did you place an order on a credit card hoping you would pay the next bill with your mining earnings?

Re: Dedicated trading computer - what's your setup?

I would use a headless linux server (ubuntu) and run goxtool on it.

https://github.com/prof7bit/goxtool
http://prof7bit.github.com/goxtool/

Its terms of hardware not much needed as you are running linux and python any atom processor can do it. However if you serious about trading and are going to do some technical analysis on the market, I would go with a dual monitor windows workstation with ssd and develop strategies on it and then push the live trading to server remote (linux) server.

And if you looking at technical analysis tool, you can look into sierracharts with slush mtgox datafeed plugin.

As you can see am biased with linux and python.

Thanks for the goxtool info, got it setup easily on linux!

Re: Offering PayPal for Bitcoin? You're likely to be labeled a scammer - Read why

Isn't the risk of buying bitcoins with paypal the same risk as buying anything else with paypal?  What is considered to be the safest way to do this other than going to someone in person and making sure you get the cash in hand?

It's not the risk of buying bitcoins with paypal - it's the risk of selling bitcoins for paypal.  Example:  you sell me 1 bitcoin and I buy it by paying you $100 thru paypal.  Once I receive the bitcoin from you I file a dispute on paypal.  Paypal reverses the transaction and gives me back my $100.  Now I have 1 Bitcoin I didn't have to start with, and my $100 in my paypal account.  You on the other hand have lost 1 bitcoin and have no additional money in paypal.

ALL HAIL THE NEWBIE ORACLE! TELL US MORE!

I can tell you're awesome!  Sorry to state a fact about the current exchange price being higher than expected previously.  Have a nice day friend!

Stating the current trend then asking for tips is almost as awesome as me posting in all caps. You have an even better day amigo.

I don't see where I asked for "tips" - but I see it in your signature.

I do see where I already asked OP what is up on the 22nd and no reply from OP.

Adios vaya con dios.

nobody said you have to do it.  You could also send out postcards, get some billboards, prime time TV ads, some of those crazy wacky flailing inflatable arm tube men, and oh... yeah... 5 posts that's not too bad sounding now really.

Definitely the way to go! :p

I love people who bitch about free services.  Go start one up yourself.

Anything that pays less than .01 btc is a complete waste of time....

0.01 BTC is the daily wage for hundreds of millions across the globe. Think twice before you say it's a complete waste of time.

I doubt they'd have the internet to get free btc though (or can even spend btc if they had them)

I don't think they were trying to insult anyone who is making .01 btc per day.  With today's spike above $50USD/1BTC that's about 50 cents / day.  I could take that $15/month and pay my webhosting with it.

Re: Your thoughts on a Gun coin?
by
infebious
on 19/03/2013, 04:34:09 UTC
I don't really think this would work.  My good friend is a gunsmith and FFL dealer. If you want to buy a gun without the government knowing you should just pay cash for one from a private seller (go somewhere like armslist.com).

If you want to have a gun purchased and shipped within the USA (like on gunbroker.com) then it has to ship from and to a registered FFL holder who has to complete an FBI background check and keep records of the sale, so although your financial transaction was discrete the government would still have record of your purchase....

...unless you just were doing it illegally, in which case you would probably just use BTC on SR as others have mentioned.
