Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering]

can anyone pls tell me why it is needed to be fixed?
People lost their entire life savings on this. It is not like let's forget it and move on.

yeah, that part I agree with 100%, no questions there,

my question would be why there need to be a new exchange built on the remaining of this? (called Gox, how stupid is that?) it will not help the community for sure, media will be all over it again.

all assets should be seized and distributed between the creditors and literally people in charge sent to prison, that would make the bitcoin in general much safer, would not send out a message that anyone can set up an exchange and loose a lot of money without any penalty.

at least my 2c

and to be honest, based on previous experiences in the banking sector, there will be no refunds for the money lost, sad but true
see any bankrupt financial organisation, if you get 5% out 5 for $1 you can consider yourself lucky.

why this company con not just die and we could move on, ahhh

and yes, I lost money thx to gox, but would rather move on and see btc goes up than have this misery for an other half year dragging along.
no question that the new company will fail too, sooner or later.

was totally pointless to buy gox.com, no chance to come back after this crash

if he really wanted to come back with a new exchange, he should have change name (personal name), country and buy a totally different domain

if he has just the fractions of the btc gone missing, he will be fine for life.
hope yakuzza is on him though...!

So let's say that I've bought some GOXcoins but I don't have a gox account.

I've requested a withraval of those coins through the site to a regular address but says it hasn't happen yet. When they process it manualy I guess GOX withraval problems will still be around. What happens to those coins?

You can't withdrawal the GoxBTC to a non-Gox address until Gox reopens transfers. I'm not sure what happens if you try now. Same thing if anyone on Gox tried I guess. A rejection warning? A queue?

"regular address" means an adress outside ox? you can not withdraw to there, only to a gox address

Blockchain.info paper wallet safe?
by
infoman
on 18/02/2014, 04:10:25 UTC
Hi Guys,

I am storing a few coins on blockchain.info paper wallet and I have a couple of questions regarding this:

1, I generated the paper wallets meanwhile I was online, I was not aware of that it would work offline too. So, is there any proof that the site is not recording the paper wallet private keys somehow?
so my cold wallets in fact safe?

2, what happens if blockchain.info is down and I need to get access to my paper wallets? best way to load them into a hot wallet? (heard mtGox could do this but that is no solution any more)

Thanks

Re: Anyone from US successfuly deposited USD into Gox in the last week?
by

on 16/02/2014, 23:00:55 UTC
People discouraged me from initiating a transfer of $10,000+ into Gox via international wire when the price started tanking over there.

I am hoping that wasn't a huge mistake (to listen to them).

Down, down the price goes.  Anyone who has succeeded in getting USD funds *into* Gox is reaping the benefits handsomely right now.

Anyone pull the trigger and waiting to see if it "becomes available" in their account?

-B-

Is this a joke, or are you so indifferent to loss as to throw what is for most people two-three months wages into what has become a black hole of funds, and to what is in all rationality a complete black hole/ponzi fraud finance scheme?

it all depends on how much money you are confortable to burn.

kanye west could easily dump a few $100k to it I guess, might be the OP uses $100 notes to warm up the house, you never know.
The max I would personally risk is $200-$300, not because I dont have more to burn, but emotinally I already crossed the line when I trust gox will come back / start trading and the quite a few btcs on my account will be accessible at any point in the future. Sad

Even if they ever do....it will be a race to the exits...and then collapse, withdrawals resuspended.

seems like you have a vendetta with gox. obviously you're not a troll or a fudster but seems like you have negative faith in gox and make it quite clear

It is a genuine question, I am obviously a newbie compared to you superduh, but do you see a hope that gox will be back and trading again after all this crazy mess they made?

I have a few grand in btc sitting on my account and I gave up all hope it will ever reach my wallets.

If I can make a wild guess, people would rather hold usd than btc so at least they can make legal action against gox when things go belly up.

so people sell btc to usd at all cost.

it is a good opportunity to double your btc (sold at 600 bought back at 300) and have a lot more btc on your account what you will never be able to have, niiiiiceeeeee!  (of course it was irony)

What mankes you think they will not? They will...

As long as they will allow withdrawals eventually, why not arbitrage? I'm opening up a mt gox account right now and verifying it. Am I insane for doing this?

you are not insane, you are very very brave, almost insanely brave...

I have quite a few btc's held at gox but I gave up every hope I will ever see them Sad
