Here's a question - When the site went down there would have been quite a few sell orders in. We'll use MINT as an example.

When the markets were paused yesterday, there were sell orders for mint at around 0.0000034. Current value on Cryptsy is about 0.00000040.

Will coinmarket remove all sell orders when markets are resumed? Seems pretty harsh on anyone that had sell orders in when the markets paused as they'll lose out.

If it's like the last time, you can still cancel your orders, even if you can't place any new ones.

Yes, I also sell mintcoin for 0.00000020 in Mintpal, because I think I would buy for 0.00000015 on CoinMarket. And you f... me, so I lost some millions mint. Thanks for that!!
Use common sense. Hundreds of people and only ~10 BTC worth of cheap MINT was avalible. It was gone in 15 seconds.

I thought he was saying he went to withdraw on one exchange and deposit into coinsmarket and when he went to buy the coins at coinsmarket, they fucked him, saying then and only then when you purchased the coins, that they were under maintenance. That's not bad investing, that's bad site practices....

Displaying a low price for a coin that other exchanges keep live prices on, and then allowing for deposits tricking people into thinking they could get cheaper coins is not too cool. I am posting this, since people are thinking it's all dandy Jandy...

Since you shouldn't even ALLOW DEPOSITS AND WITHDRAWS if a EXCHANGE SITE IS IN MAINTENANCE....

Or, you could deposit the coins, realise that trading was suspended, send the coins back to the original exchange and grumble over lost transaction fees. Since you couldn't put in new bids, but you could cancel your asks, I just don't see how you can manage to lose more than transaction + trading fees, even if you can't be bothered to read the very obvious "No trading becuse of maintenance" message.

I wouldn't sell my Mints if I would know that coinmarket.io stopped trading. Btc deposit was possible so I thought everything was right. I feel fucked.
Coinmarket.io admin - next time please post some red label bold statement everywhere on website that something like this is going on cause people lost money couse of lack of info like this.

Like, the message that was smack in the middle of every trading page, saying that trading was suspended?

Congrats argakiig pool!

New 42 website going up...

Here is a sneak preview!!

http://www.42coin.org

Looking good!

Thanks! Any suggestions or keep it as is?

You should probably fix the spelling errors right away and maybe have a few other people that deal with PR read through the text and get some feedback.

Start mining 42 right away... before you can't mine any more. <--- This sentence looks kind of awkward (IMO obviously).

And remove the remains of the background from the graph image. They're making my brain itch!

Fuck, I sound nitpicky. I really like the site overall, I just have a bad habit of trying to pick things apart.

That is fine.. Thanks for the heads up. I operate at a fast speed so I was just jolting it down but wanted to share with you all a sneak peak so any suggestions can be arranged before release.

Refresh it now and let me know what you think.

Oh, that looks really good!

(This has never been done before. 42 Coin will be the mark in the crypto currency, that has never been before seen. 42 Coins wwill be revolutionary movement because of its rarity and speed. Here is the history about 42 Coin [Press Release Introducing 42: Business Insider] <--- Still a spelling error though  Smiley )

Use a complex password - not from the dictionary, not your cat's middle name, not your mom's maiden name.

A pretty easy way of doing this, that I was taught, is to use quotes or lyrics you know. Just take the first letter of every word, throw in some numbers that don't have a personal connection to you (decimals from Pi or e for example) and you end up with a password that is easy to remember, yet hard to guess.

Example: We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars - Oscar Wilde
Ends up being: WaaitgBsoual@ts653589

Quote + easily exchangable symbol + 3.141592653589 = New password

I'm renting a rig right now and it's working fine. Hashrate is good, communication was quick and to the point and everything has been smooth and easy so far.

CEX.IO question
by
interkon
on 30/12/2013, 02:40:42 UTC
So, I've been reading some of the threads on cex.io and from what I understand, most people seem to think it's a waste of money to buy GHS there. I have no reason to doubt this, however, as someone who has invested no actual money into my bitcoins, I'm trying to figure out if there's any way for it to actually be a loss for me.

I own about 0.0001 BTC at the moment, since the only way I've been making them is by clicking links whenever I remember to. (Until I understand more of the workings of the technology and the economic market, I'm not going to invest any of my money, since I'm far too broke to speculate in anything.) I have no way to do any mining on my own, even pool-mining, since the beginning investment in hardware I would have to do far exceeds anything I would be able to make back. Unless I'm completely misunderstanding anything about the system, the only money I could lose would be the fractions of BTC that I didn't buy in the first place? And as long as GHash.io is doing any mining whatsoever, I should be increasing my amount of BTC, even if it's by very small amounts?

So, I suppose my question is if the way I'm thinking about it is wrong? (Also, I'm not expecting to make money out of this. I really just wants to see how it works.)

Obligatory introduction post

Hello forum! And world!

I'm embarrassingly new to all things CryptoCurrency and have spent the last few days reading my way through interesting topics on the forum. Since I figured it might be helpful to be able to reply to specific posts if there's ever something I want to say, registering now seemed like a good idea.

At the moment, my approach to learning more is mostly to do the virtual equivalent of poking things with sticks, to see what happens (i.e. running cudaMiner and laughing at my hash/s, and following the BTC and LTC exchange rates). Hopefully I'll be able to understand more of the arcane workings of Bitcoins before civilization ceases to exist.
