What I would like to see from a leading exchange like yours is to implement some proof of dev.
- How hard would it be to get the leading dev of interesting coins to chat with one of you in a video call explaining what his coin is, what he intends to do and what not.
I am sure some of them will still be scam, as a competent person can fool you into accepting his coin but after he fooled the community once, this guy will be barred from your exchange forever with his photo published and what not.,. For their next scam they will need an other competent dev to give the speech and answer your technical guy. A method like this is a bit intrusive but for the sake of crypto, I believe this is almost mandatory at this point.
Bittrex is hurting more than helping the community at this point with all the scams. This is unbelievable how much money has been stolen past few weeks with all this stuff. What might happen at this point is people are going to avoid your site and go back to mintpal and invest in established new coins.
I personally was trading quite a bit 3 weeks ago and barely bought any coins on your exchange since then, and intend to do so until this situation is resolved.

Proof of Dev? Seriously, you mean all I need is a cool online name, a few BTC, and I can get my coin listed? No wonder the industry has a trust problem....
Think SRO (Self Regulatory Organization), like a stock exchange. People have faith in the stocks because they are on the exchanges. Exchanges have customers because they do their homework before listing a stock. They are not perfect, but the fact they look into companies first deters the unscrupulous.
As an exchange, It is all about trading volume, and that means trading the hottest coins. But paid listings are worrisome.
It begs the question, Who are your most important customers? Those with coins to list? Or, the people that trust you with their coins (Read: Money)? (No good or bad here, it is just a business model thing. But being a customer I prefer the latter)
Why? Because more and more alts have Market Caps approaching the 10's of millions range or higher. This is Real Money. The Mt.Gox collapse was the wake up call. Hey, Real $$! Then Poloniex suffered a loss at their own fault. Now say what you want, but Poloniex recovered and made everyone whole. Like the exchange or not, they have earned a measure of respect. As a result, there is a growing faith that each exchange is not a fraud, but soon they will demand a measure of protection from / by the exchange from coin fraud.
Now with the recent rash of new scam coins should drive this next evolutionary phase. Due Diligence. Some sort of due diligence is needed and or will soon be demanded by traders and investors. Bryce Weiner (think what you want) he has his coins. Will they work? IDK, but when I buy/invest in one, I have some knowledge of what I am getting into and reason to believe it isn't a scam. That doesn't mean it will work, but it seems like the guy is trying.
A clearly defined 'industry standard' set of criteria needs to be (read: will eventually be) developed. Something much more significant than measuring the shouting on social media. It is like a random pat down for people waiting at the gate of a sporting event. Will it keep bad people out, NO. But the simple tactic is enough to make casual evildoer step out of line.
The future of the industry is straight forward. Exchanges that continue listing anything for anyone will lose respect, volume, and desirability.
Exchanges that are serious have no choice than to start regulating themselves. If they don't, the alt industry will suffer significantly. Bottom line, Integrity and Intent count. (It is also expensive!)
And that sets up the next stage.
Ultimately fragmented industries consolidate. It simple economics; things like economies of scale and shared resources are powerful at the bottom line.
So, anyone hear of any merger talk lately? Uncomfortable with that idea? It doesn't matter. The mergers are coming. And as fast as this industry evolves... I think the first one happens soon, like in the next 3 - 9 months.

My complete guess (based on Geography) >> Bittrex & Cryptsy.
Trex has a bit more volume which should go well with Cryptsy's newly (Licensed) Dollar markets. Every US Dollar Cryptsy adds to their accounts increases their desirability.
Then the US Alt Trading Powerhouse will be ready to go international (read: MintPal) but that bring a lot of expensive legal requirements.
I see Polo gathering up the best of the rest while the high-school project sites fold due to lack of interest. Being in 3rd place (US) maybe Polo should try and get the ball rolling first.
I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said The issue is within this game people don't want there to be regulations and they don't want to be accountable its the guise of(anonymity and the lack of consequences that has been the way things have been operated thus far in all things crypto); that being said they're trying to hide behind new pseudonyms and scam coins. If these exchanges had any care for due diligence they may be able to catch some of the scams but at the same time there is no real way to tell whether a coin is going to be a scam or not because i could make the most legit looking coin and not have a crazy high market cap for it and then just poof vanish. There would need to be some kind of regulations put in place that would hold people accountable and those types of regulations are what will push people away from crypto as it would take the level of anonymity out of it. Now with what you said when those things come about crypto will be more stable and trustworthy but much less anonymous hopefully theres not too much of a mess before the dust settles.

I am still here just not able to be as active due to some changes at my job with a restructuring of the department i worked for they fired 2 people and now i have to take on the extra responsibilities of one of those people along with them changing my hours so it has been a bit rough on me adjusting to that id like to be able to devote and dedicate as much of my time as i did in the beginning when i got BarTeam on board and when i took the lead after this coin was kind of just left sitting and it makes me very ecstatic to see that BarTeam is doing such a great job on this coin and really stepped up and has handled all that has been thrown at him.

Site has been updated to include links and information for Bter and Allcoins along with the countdown. Working on some graphic updates and then things that will go along with the rebranding and remodeling which we have planned this will most likely not come for another 2 weeks as i wont be able to dedicate too much time to it until i return from my travels fro work.

Also we will need everyone to help contribute with this and to voice their support for XLC so that when it comes time for that weekly removal they will see the support and following for the coin.

and we are # 240 on mintpal with 292 votes
currently we are #30 on bter with 9 upvotes and 0 downvotes

Weird that the smaller exchanges didn't simply accept the coin outright, but it may be a situation where not being new is a disadvantage. Sometimes new coins get that initial volume boost that older coins don't.
If the coin does get delisted from bittrex, I suggest rethinking the rebranding idea. Possibly other exchanges would take it then if was viewed as a new coin. As for c-ex, not entirely sure what to think of it. Some folks like it, some say they have been scammed there, so not sure.

I see youre thinking but in all honesty i feel it has more to do with the fact that there are so many alt coins popping up on a daily basis now that even the smaller exchanges get inundated per se and they feel maybe they need to have a little more restriction on what coins get added to possibly avoid adding the coins that will just get pump dump or ipo launch scammed.
I figure what we have already set in motion will be good and then if for whatever reason it gets delisted that is when the rebranding will be put to the forefront and be the first priority i have reached out to the people who i think i needed to reach out for this matter and hopefully they continue to work with us as they have in the past. It is hard being that i am currently traveling for work and dont have all the resources at my disposal as i would if i was back at home. that being said i am trying my best to be as active as possible and help with as much as i can. BarTeam has been a great addition and is definitely helping guide this project in the right direction together we are going to do great things with this coin and with the clear following we have had and the positive support from all of you i know this will succeed. So for that i want to thank all of you who has supported and who continue to support our efforts!!!

As we have discussed we are still working on this coin and have been actively trading and keeping the volume levels near what you had stated was a requirement to keep the coin listed. if you check in the thread we have plenty of activity regarding this coin and there are plenty of people still interested in trading it on bittrex. we have some things lined up for the coming weeks and would love if you could extend us on your exchange so we have a platform for people to trade.

Have any of the smaller exchanges accepted the coin yet? Austin Global, Atomic-trade, allcoin/allcrypt, King Coiny... any of those guys? You need a backup plan in case Bittrex doesn't extend.
I have reached out to all of those and i got the coin added for voting on c-cex but people have given negative feedback for that exchange so i dont know if we are planning on actually continue to try to vote it up there.

About mintpal.. I agree.. with the fact that we should not waste/spend money over the votes (for now). but instead.. over "transacting" the coin...
But keep in mind that voting is still "valuable" to the XLC. It generates "interest" if you keep "saying".. "we are voting.. look.."... so my statement.. is
Keep voting.. for XLC.. it's a way for you to support the coin.. paying with your time.. instead of coin. And it will pay off.. in time.. for all those free votes...

Just as he said! there are still a bunch of us backing this coin and we are here myself included i am currently away for business and will not be back home until 7/9 so my part in this will be not as visible during that time. i will however make sure to continuously follow the thread and post when i can along with keeping in touch with the other members of the team.
The voting is definitely significant regardless what some people say as oh there's no way we will get to the top blah blah blah. a vote is a vote and each vote brings us that much closer so if we all can continue doing what we have as barteam said and dedicating our time to voting that is a great step in the right direction.
Also as he mentioned we are in the background working on other aspects of the coin including the re-working. i will be dedicating whatever time i can to doing some design work along with hopefully by the time i return from this work trip a completely reworked site with the updated image of the coin along with reaching out to coinmarketcap and creating a banner for the coin to hit the "target" audience as westostrich mentioned.
As long as we can all continue to work together and support one another this is going to go places and unlike what many others see as he mentioned a lot of these coins go through a rather short lifecycle they launch they get hyped the make it onto one small exchange there's some volume and then they end up deciding to go to mintpal once they do this the big whales come in pump it up to where they want to make the money they want to make and then BAM to the ground now that is not the direction we want the coin to go in. We have something here that can continue to grow over time without following the same path that many of these other altcoins have fell victim to. I understand people usually in this "game" don't want to wait for results the thing is sometimes you have to be patient to really get the best out of something. The development of this coin is far from done and with the continued support from all of you it is going to continue moving in the right direction and we will reach our goals together!

Actually in retrospect i agree with you.
We currently have someone looking into an android wallet and then as soon as ios becomes available we will be making an IOS wallet for apple devices.
these are things in the works as soon as updated information as to the progress becomes available i will make it known to you all.

We have looked into other smaller exchanges and they have been dragging their feet on adding us to the voting list the only one so far that has added us to their voting is C-Cex but there has been a lot of negative news about some of their doing. I am unaware of the truth in regards to it but there have been some people who have clearly voiced their opinion on it.
I have made an account on c-cex but i was unable to vote for the coin which i found was weird.
I will follow up and reach out again to the other exchanges i have spoken to. i dont know if poloniex would add us due to the prior misunderstandings with XBCplus.

We have looked into other smaller exchanges and they have been dragging their feet on adding us to the voting list the only one so far that has added us to their voting is C-Cex but there has been a lot of negative news about some of their doing. I am unaware of the truth in regards to it but there have been some people who have clearly voiced their opinion on it.
I have made an account on c-cex but i was unable to vote for the coin which i found was weird.
I will follow up and reach out again to the other exchanges i have spoken to. i dont know if poloniex would add us due to the prior misunderstandings with XBCplus.
we are continuously looking into the suggestions and options you have all mentioned. thanks for your input and feedback!

So, who's willing to put some BTC towards our voting on mintpal. im willing to throw .05 btc toward it if i can get at least 2 or 3 other people to match my donation. Manual voting 1 by 1 will only do so much there is a huge gap from number 1 and those people have deep pockets to buy votes. We will need to be a community and everyone group together in order to make it to the top!

ooh, that sounds catchy.
So just an update on where i will be the next few weeks. I will be traveling until july 9th for work so i may not be on for days at a time possibly longer im leaving it up to BarTeam and XLCPlus to carry along and so far BarTeam has been doing a great job at just that. I will do my best to continue to check and respond to messages in a timely manner. I will most likely not be connecting to IRC as much as i have and i don't know if it really matters since it seems many people from the thread have not been in the IRC channel.
I still plan to do any updates to the site as they become necessary and to continue with development of this coin around my schedule.

I spoke with bill at bittrex and he says he will support us on their platform as long as we are active and keep him in the loop.
I plan on doing just that and continuing to be as transparent as I have been.. As XBCplus and BarTeam mentioned we appreciate the feedback and are working on making the things requested and discussed a reality.
