Re: A Simple "About Bitcointalk" Page for New Users and Visitors

Meh..it's not really that intimidating for new users. Back in 2017 when I first started, each board sections have pretty much straightforward description (i.e Meta - everything related to this forum). I understand your inputs though.

Those people and events that became notable histories in Bitcoin aren't really what people would like search up the whole internet just to find those. HODL meme was memorable for me, but not something that I would actively look around in the internet. When I saw that thread in here, it's just one of those "Oh wow, welp anyways..." moment for me.

LoyceV has a great suggestion in one of the earlier replies and that's what at least I'll need as a newbie when upon registration in a forum. I've been to other non-Bitcoin forum and I don't think I would like a whole page being showed to me if I only wanted to know about specific stuffs. Just like others mentioned, I would most likely just skip it and continue looking for what I wanted to look up.

Source: https://www.rappler.com/newsbreak/fact-check/deepfake-videos-bam-aquino-journalists-used-investment-plan-ad/

Nakakabahala lang kasi may mga taong madaling mapa click or kakagat sa mga ganto. Probably mga target ng mga neto ay mga older generation since common sa kanila ay di pa masyadong updated sa mga technology.

NFTs are useless and NFT marketplaces don't have bright future like many things from altcoin projects.

Let's see an example with Coinbase NFT Marketplace.
Coinbase bet on NFTs Comes at a Terrible Time. They spent "Coinbase may have to spend up to $300 million" and their NFT Marketplace faced with dommy future.
In February 2023, Coinbase’s NFT marketplace has seen trading volume of less than 3 Ethereum in the past week.

It's Coinbase NFT marketplace, you can imagine about smaller unknown NFT marketplaces from small companies in blockchain and cryptocurrency industry.
I can still recall when they were really hot topic still in this forum. I have been radio silent when they became a trend, but they were pretty much any newer trends in crypto that people keep hyping up and down then in the end, it just dies down.

NFTs are like memes now and people are not taking it seriously anymore.

They're not discriminated. After merit system was implemented, I started in Member rank, joined discussions, learned stuff from "veteran" members in here and passed some knowledge I gathered from users in here to other users and the merit points just came naturally.

Either you're posting in threads that aren't usually read by merit sources or people with merits (mega threads)  or your posts aren't just "merit worthy" at all. When I send merits to users, I don't give a crap about their ranks and just check if their post is merit worthy for me. It could be funny, cringe, informative, etc etc etc.  It could be different for other people, but that's my way.

If you're really eager for other members to check your posts to be merited, link your original account in here and let other users read your post history.

You're out of your mind when you do just throw it all in BTC. Even if I do have the regrets back in the days like in 2013 where I did not buy Bitcoin, there is just no way that I would go and risk all of my savings even at that lowest.

Right now that the ATH is around 90k, I still do not think that I should have gone homeless by converting all of my assets to BTC. You cannot sell when you're dead.  Cheesy

Re: Meme Coins Vs Presales

Well it's risky either way, still to this day, I hate meme coins but if you have these two choices only I would go for meme coins. Presales are risky af considering that it might not get to see it being listed to any exchange either way.

Meme coins are hyped af and that's just helping it for its value in the short-term. I don't think I should list any meme coins, but if you have been in the "Realm of the Internet" for almost a decade, you know what memes are already. I wouldn't go for the long-term with  that coin though for obvious reasons.

Whether it's a meme coin or an investment in a presale project, it's better not to have high expectations, treat it like gambling, use the money you are ready to lose on such a project so as not to make you go crazy.
Either way has high risk and you're like playing in the casino either way. It is either lose-lose or tiny bit of a win but you still lost in the long-term.

It's more than that, many people are scared of volatility, but they didn't scared to see their money lose over time.

People think investing in time deposits, bonds and gold can make their money grow, but actually they still lose their money even though not as high as savings.

It's common and considering it just doesn't happen exclusively in crypto. In job market, it also happens especially in freelance. In freelance, you gotta risk the volatility of the clients that you're going to encounter especially when you're doing projects that are just for the short-term.

To be fair, gold is not all that bad but if you're considering stuffs that isn't regulated.... well we're here already doing it. Maybe just not rely on one thing on earning, whether it'd be a job or investment.

Re: Never revenge the market!

Sharing my own experience a long time ago:
Every time I lost before and I am eager to get back my losses, I keep losing and losing. Especially at first you lose too much then you chase that loss, and you lose again. That's sad. After that, I already learned a lot and respected every trade I did, wins or losses.
Right now I just lurking around the market and within almost a year of not doing anything, I almost got disappointed when I just found out that I was not earning from my current hodlings.

Sometimes you just got to suck it up and accept that it's just how the market goes. "Revenge" the market just sounds like a desperation for me.

Yeah this is quite common. Just imagine why would everyone wouldn't just do crypto if it was an easy rich scheme in the end. This is same just like in stock market and trading. There is just hell nothing of a way to be rich easily.

Usually I would just treat crypto investment as a side job, not something that I would really put my whole 9-5 into.

Re: What significant impact is expected of new members of the forum?
by
isaac_clarke22

Hello everyone, I'm only newly invited to the forum, and I must say that I've enjoyed every bit of the time I've spent here, especially on the beginners and help board because I was advised that as a beginner that's where I'll learn about things concerning the forum.

To be honest I'm amazed at the traffic and I've noticed that I could learn a lot from the forum. Also, I'm open to learning and pass knowledge in anyway I can, but I want to know how I can impact the forum, what core values does the bitcoin talk community needs? Or is impacting knowledge here only specific to a certain caliber of people or higher ranking members?

Like I said earlier I'm open to learning and I'll need answers from anyone so far you're telling me the right thing, I'll read everyone's reply and take note of everything you say cause I believe it would help me grow.
Good to hear that you're having a great time so far in the forum. There's plenty to learn and to be fair, even I with Sr. Member rank still has plenty to learn since there's just too many knowledge to learn in crypto as whole aside from me learning programming continuously that's why I am quite not frequent in posting lately.

I assume you're asking how can you "make" a good impact in the forum? There's plenty of spaces to give "great" impact. Got some techy ideas? We got Bitcoin Technical Discussion board.
Want to influence your fellow Bitcoiners in the same country as yours? We got local boards.
You can reply in my post to specify what specific type of "great" impact you wanted to give.
