reason why snowballs is stuck is because there are currently no mature coins to stake
why? because min maturity is ~9 days, so coins have to wait every ~9 days before they can stake again
no mature coins = no stake = no new block
anyway, i realized i have my wallet closed and i have mature coins, im synching now and when done i should be able to stake next 4 blocks

my coins have not staked yet. they was 6 coins 12 hours ago. when will it?
at current difficulty, i am getting stakes when i have ~2000 weight
6 coins will have ~2000 weight in 13.93 days
so 6 coins might stake in 14 days but then in 14 days diff might be double so essentially its a moving target
i guess 6 coins might be too small now with current network weight, with 100 coins im now getting 1 stake daily
if you mouse over the arrow icon on the lower right of the wallet you can see an estimated expected time to stake

Just moved my 40k HYP into 5 blocks of 8K there goes like 5 30+ ages with like 120K+ weight :p
similar situation
i had >2000 blocks that havent staked in 50+ days
moved them into 7k blocks, hope that is enough to stake by the time they mature

As for the "long term" plan who the hell knows. Right now, things are good. Market price and market cap, volume, supply/demand and community pressure/advice will probably dictate if or when action is taken to curb inflation in the future. Can we please stop talking about this now?
That's all I was asking, and finally I have an answer. There is no plan... Good enough for me.one initial way to cope with the massive inflation was to increase the min maturity from 1 day to ~9days
- so compounding will go from daily to every 9 days instead
- and any one who makes a transaction will lose coin age and have to wait another 9 days for stake (intentionally leaving out coin control for this to take effect)
this was implemented in balls, and based on balls performance, iGot will decide if to continue to implement on MMXIV or not
the trigger date for MMXIV is Aug 20 and based on the what iGot sees on balls, he will not implement it on MMXIV
im sharing this to give you an idea on how the development is an ongoing process,

Phosphorous is completely correct in his calculations. It only makes sense that eventually, each MMXIV coin is going to be worth less. It would be foolish to think that by December when there are a billion MMXIV in circulation they will still be worth 0.02 BTC each. As much as I'd love for MMXIV to have a market cap of $5billion I believe that is highly unlikely.
All cryptocurrencies head down this path. As they are mined, more come into circulation, and most of the time, this devalues the currency. The more of it available, the less it's worth. The important metric to look at here is total market cap - and for MMXIV, this is growing steadily over the past 30 days.
The import distinction with MMXIV is your personal stake rate versus network inflation. While you are staking MMXIV you are earning 5.5% of your balance every day. At the same time, the network coin supply is inflating by only 4.0%. This is an awesome system and has never been done with a POS coin before.
What this means is that as the currency devalues due to inflation, you are still earning more MMXIV in stake than the currency is being devalued by. For example, if you were holding 200 MMXIV today and staked them for the next ~2 months, and I'll adjust the current price for inflation:

It's not clear why you believe your 1.04% of total supply will increase to 2.57% of total supply?... what assumptions are you making?
it is assuming total supply inflates at 4% only (due to transaction fees, inflation controls, coins in exchanges etc..)
while you hold and stake the 200 daily for 5.5%
so
coin supply from 19,200 to 227,196.48 (4% inflation)
holdings from 200 to 5833.6 (5.5% daily compound interest)
5833.6 / 227,196 = 2.57%

Hi community. Need some help. I use my dodge wallet ( DRiRh7H8Rho4ipFeg7PaJeA5n5iaq7Uajr ) created January 2014. Go import and nothing( is it lottery or any wallet can claim coins?). Then I try put wallet in clam Appdata directory and after start wallet receive Warning: error reading wallet.dat!

Hi Igotspots i was checking my wallet in blockexplorer to see my wallet transactions. What is see 0 balance but my wallet there are spendable coins whats happening?
Wallets can have many addresses. Each address is separate on the exporer
ive watched my both adresses each balance 0 in the blockeplorer (have 2adresses)
I hope it doesn't affect my staking
im guessing you sent some coins and the change went to "change address"
in the console try running "listunspent" and see if it lists other addresses in you wallet
