There are two ways artifacts mainly appear.

Card is running with high temperature over a extended period, so the artifacts can be permanent when you push the card to a certain degree.

Or what i believe is most likely the case and i see on my cards as well (22x of them) 1150/1600 will simply cause this, after a extended period of mining. Tune down core clock! (i even get artifacts at 1050 then again i am running all my cards at 1040mv for best Hash:Watt ratio) reboot required, artifacts don't go away just by down-clocking the card.

Anyone who runs multiple nVidia cards on risers?

I am looking into running 5-6 cards per rig, but i think someone earlier in this thread mentioned that cudaMiner still has some trouble with high traffic so that risers could be a problem. (1x to 16x risers, 5 or 6 per rig)

I'm actually seriously considering building a huge setup consisting of 750Ti's for me the profit margin is the price i pay for electricity, and im already pulling 6kw.


I read somewhere that cudaMiner has some trouble running on 1x -> 16x risers, are there any truth to this? (Im looking at 5x or 6x these cards in each of my rigs but before i actually buy a ton of these cards id love to hear from someone who either know or run multiple nVidia cards on risers)

But seriously, tables have turned. initial investment in $ per # is closely the same as building a AMD rig yet you can save 50% of the power, which in the long run is where your main expense lies.

Where i buy my components which is not nearly as cheap as many other country's i come up with a 1,91Kh/s per $ for  for a nVidia setup where as i get 2,1kh/s per $ for a AMD setup (all expenses included). heat = more space required or heavier cooling, these cards also run a lot colder than what AMD does as well as reports are that cards barely get upto 65 degree, and heat is something that is very hard on AMD as they easily run upto 90+++ unless you have a ton of fans and space between the cards.

Anyone in this thread actually running more than a few cards?

I am currently trying to run 22x amd 280x cards. The basement where these are running is now almost 30 degree Celsius. And I'm hashing SHA3 which creates a fraction of the heat scrypt does. Not to mention the amount of power all of this draws. with the 280x's i have a watt to hash ratio of 2,6. So my 5,8kw is roughly giving me 15mh/s on scrypt where as with nvidia rigs (that by the way is cheaper to build) with equal power usage i could get 28mh/s. Anyone who dont see the math why the profit margin is very much in favour of nVidia needs to do a reality check. Because 45kw power a year is not exactly cheap.

How come i am earning less than half what others to with the same hash rate as mine, my hash rate is same on miners as its on the page. I have a combined total of 10mh/s and site supports this telling me that im hashing at 10mh/s with next to no rejects. (2 days in at current hash rate, and 4 days in at 5mh/s)

The estimated diff is based on a few factors the key is the hashrate in the network, some coins also implement a logic from preventing the diff to go through the roof or fall through the floor. However there are not too many of these.


What you will often see on alt-coins is that the diff fluctuates by incredibly huge numbers, this because the diff vs profit is very vulnerable while a coin is still young, while the diff is low the profit margin is very high but when the diff is high its a loss over another coin, so people ride the waves mining the most profitable coin at the moment.

91 degree is too hot. and may cause malfunction over time. i find that even at 88 degree over time it causes hardware errors in my rigs.

Its tight. Depending on which 280x card you run they pull anything from 275-350w 220-330w and at 350 330 that will over time overload yer PSU and eventually it'll fizzle out.

That being said you can undervolt the GFX cards so that they do not run at full wattage, and in some cases this have no effect on hash rate at all.
