and whoa whoa whoa why isn't Namecoin #1 and Devcoin #2 or vice-versa, you people need to rethink your values.

PPcoin makes sense, though.  At least it added something of significant value.  But PPC, NMC, and DVC should be top 3, no question.

Re: Can you mine YAC with a script coin at the same time?

Yes

YAC is mined on CPUs using the native miner in the client (though it is likely that a few people have tweaked cgminer to mine on GPUs).  That leaves your GPUs free to do whatever you want, like mine another coin.  I am currently mining YAC and LTC, and I haven't noticed a major performance decrease.

I am auctioning 500 YAC for the next 60 min.

Post your offers in BTC or LTC.  The auction will end 1 hour from posting (11:47 pm).  Highest bid wins.
I am happy to send first to a trustworthy winner.

Happy bidding!

Good work, Canton!

I love the design and am definitely going to start using these.

I don't see the point in stressing about the 'hack'.  Keep your wallet physically secured and you won't have to worry about it.
I agree completely, but I am very much enjoying the friendly battle with Niko.

Is there any way you could post the base design without keys and QR codes so that I could stick in a vanity address just for fun?  Or maybe you could find a way to incorporate vanitygen, though that sounds like it might be a bit difficult.  It might also be nice if other address formats could be used.  I would love to use this for Litecoins, too.

Re: How much Bitcoin can I expect to make with this setup?
by
jabberwok
on 28/11/2012, 18:16:06 UTC
Given those numbers, why would anyone bother computing bitcoin hashes?

Those numbers are exactly why people don't bother to mine on NVIDIA cards.  Since the halving and with the pending shipments of ASICs, many GPU miners are walking away completely.  Unless you can get free electricity, GPU mining will not make a profit, and even if you can get free electricity, the wear and tear on your rig might not be worth it.

Shouldn't bitcoin be dead by now since there is no incentive to help others encrypt transfers?

There are still a lot of people who support bitcoin not just to make money (though many of the people who support it have made a great deal of money by getting in early).  For them, securing the network is the incentive.

Use that to see if you would just be burning money.
Definitely be careful with a laptop.  If you are going to use a laptop, make sure you watch the temp closely

Re: CPU Mining? My GPU sucks.
by

on 06/11/2012, 03:06:13 UTC
You can try mining for litecoins. It's not as profitable but it is cpu mining specific.
Now even LTC mining is better done on a GPU.  If you have to mine on a CPU, LTC is still the way to go, but CPU mining is really just not worth it.
