What did you put under the motherboard?
I would like to know, because I am beginning on my first mining rig this week.

Hi,
Currently im in process to design a new rig, from this

to this (first renders):
...

How is it, any suggestions to improve?

Maybe you should make it stackable?

It looks very nice though.

First mining rig psu question
by

Hi guys,

I want to build my first mining rig, and I've already bought all the parts I need, but I just want to be sure everything will work fine.
These are the parts I've bought:
- Gygabyte GA-990FXA
- SeaSonic X-1250 PSU (yes 1250W)
- AMD Sempron 145
- 4X  Gigabyte R9 280X
- 4 usb powered risers (these)
- KINGSTON HyperX blu 2 x 2 GB DDR3-1600

I would like to know if 1250W is enough for this, on the extreme power supply calculator (http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp) I came out on 1240W recommended..

Kind regards,

Jack

Well... If I go with powered risers whats the point of buying H81 Btc Pro if it's not for using its molex connectors on board. I can just buy cheaper one and go with powered molexes... It would be the same thing.

And it would actually be worth something when you went to sell it in a few months/years.

That board is a gimmick for noobs, as pointed out previously.
hah, the exact same reason why I ain't buying it, the resale value will decrease a lot.

I would get USB riser cables myself because they use individually shielded twisted pairs for data, but if you are dead set on cheap ribbon cables then I would get the x1-x16 powered version. Keep them short though, 7" or 19cm is standard IIRC. Longer ones may work, but like I said pci-e communication is a balanced pair of data lines. The longer (or wider, as in more pci-e lanes) they get, the higher the chance the noise can't be "comp'ed" out. If you get to that point, you'll have erratic mining behavior, or no mining at all.

Does it matter how long the usb cable is for the usb risers?

Thanks, and Gigabyte is a good choice?

MSI R7950 TF3 or Gigabyte R9 280X

Hi guys,

I am trying to make a choice between these cards, the prices difference is not big so the price doesn't matter to me, which card is the best to choose?
The MSI R7950 is a bit cheaper than the Gigabyte, but also performs less in KH/s.
Please help me out with this choice, if you know a better card in the price range of these cards, please let me know.

It doesn't matter if you use 1x 16x on 16x slots, at all. Hashing power is exactly the same.
I know, but I am not talking about the hashing speed, I am talking about power usage, heat etc.
They are powered risers, so I think the 1x to 16x and the 16x to 16x will not differ from that..

Hi,

I want to know what risers are the best to use, is it better to use 16x to 16x on 16x slots, or does it not matter if you use 1x to 16x on them?
I am talking about powered risers though.

Because CoinyeCoin is still very new and has a lot of attention I suggest to mine CoinyeCoin, we'll just have to wait till we can exchange it, but there can be a lot of potential in this coin because of it being in the news already before launch.
