Re: are you a long time hodler?
by
jacktheking
on 11/04/2023, 05:19:51 UTC
My Bitcoin journey started back in 2013. It has been close to ten years. During these ten years, I've never made any Bitcoin purchases at all. Despite that, I've managed to secure 2000 USD worth of Bitcoin, simply by participating in Signature Campaign and providing programming services. I can firmly say that I am a Bitcoin hodler. In fact, I hold onto my stack of <100 USD worth of 0.02 BTC for about five years. And then sold it during the height of Bitcoin for 2000 USD.

In short, I was a long-term hodler. But I have no need for commitment, as I did not put in a single cent.

Re: How much effort should one put into Bitcoin investments

It's up to the personal financial state and commitment; greatly depends on how well off the investor is.

We all have to agree with the fact that Bitcoin is a risky investment. With the high return, it comes with its risk. Hence I'd pick the first option for everyone ("how much you can easily invest without stress"). If you put all-in to Bitcoin, you'll have my respect mate. But most of us needs stable currency for our day to day usage.

Was it 20 dollars in total? Or 120 bucks in total? Either way, it is very impressive of you to have done that. Pulling in five teens to join the crypto community and educating them on the right path. Hopefully, they will not be blinded by the gambling or casino side of cryptocurrency. And they will use Bitcoin and cryptocurrency as a normal method of payment. Respect mate!

Re: Is storing bitcoin is more secure in iPhone than in an Andriod phone
by

Both operating systems have pros and cons. I'm an Android user and I once stored all my Bitcoin portfolio on the device. I have never been hacked before. And that's because I practice common senses. User is the #1 reason for security breaches. To answer your question, despite being a loyal Android user, I'd say iOS has better security. As the OS is closed source, hence any vulnerability is hard to discover.

Re: Age of bitcoiners

This wouldn't be accurate. I won't expect a non tech-savvy kid (<18 year old) to use an online forums nowadays. Especially a forums with a 2000s layout and a lot of restriction. I am pretty sure there are plenty of teens that uses and invest into Bitcoin. And they are mostly scattered across other social media platform like Youtube and Instagram. Hell, maybe even TikTok.

But it's a good topic. This poll allows us, "older generation" to see the mindset of the people that we communicate with on a daily basis; assuming you use this forums daily.

Re: 2024 Bitcoin Halving - What are Your Expectations!!!
by

I've been through two Bitocin halving already. I feel that it will be the same. The market and mining scene will be affected. However, it won't be a drastic change to the point that Bitcoin price will skyrocket overnight.

Politics and market aside, I feel that I missed a great opportunity to mine Bitcoin when the rewards was high and difficulty was low. I can't blame myself as I was still a kid back then. With this, I should grab every opportunities I have now.

Re: Best thing you bought with Bitcoin?

So far, the best purchase I made with Bitcoin will be a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite. The item was on sale (Black Friday) on Amazon. Having only Bitcoin as my purchase option, I looked for people on Bitcointalk that would close the purchase on my behalf. Everything was recorded (if you see my post history) and escrowed.

Despite being my best purchase, sometimes, I feel that if I didn't purchase it, I might have gotten more Bitcoin (due to their price increase in recent years).

Re: What has bitcoin done for you?

I am proud that I can consider myself an early adopter of Bitcoin. Despite never having brought Bitcoin with cash before, being an early adopter on Bitcointalk and multiple closed faucets, I made myself a small sum of (free) money. Back then, I was just a random kid on the internet. I have no access to credit or debit cards. Being a tech-savvy kid, the Bitcoin that I earned allows me to purchase domain and web hosting. It has enabled me to publish some of my first few web applications to the world; such as BitRevenues and FreeBitcoinLottey.

As a developer, I use Firefox almost all the time to read the documentation and/or search for online solutions.

Which software do you use to make your working day more organized and productive?
What is your work?

Without telling where is your job then how can someone tell you the suggestions?

Not being rude here. Just want to point out that he is asking us to share more on our work/experience. He is not seeking for help or advise; more of a discussion.

Your take for a visually impaired friendly wallet is great. I would just like to add that, actually, Windows comes with a Text-To-Speech system (bundled with it Assistive feature) - officially known as Narrator. It is able to read webpages and read aloud the current selected widget. With that, I believe that web-based wallet (such as CoinSpace^) are already friendly enough for the visually impaired - considering that they have much more experience in using the Narrator feature already.

* I tested out the Narrator on CoinSpace and it is not that accurate. However, take into consideration that the visually impaired will most likely be used to it already (or that they are using some other proprietary software with more accurate result).

Re: How Many Years on Bitcointalk? Take the Poll!

I joined five years back when I heard about Bitcoin through ForumPromotion. As I was an active users on various forums, I searched for Bitcoin forums and Bitcointalk was the first one that came up. Hence I registered but due to the 360 seconds policy, I stopped visiting Bitcointalk after making a few posts. I came back a year or so later when I discovered the "secret money-making tactic" of Bitcointalk - signature campaign.

Hey Satoshi! It's great to see you back here on the forums! I may not be a fanboy of yours but I am soooooo happy that I can be the first person to reply.

I am surprised that Satoshi is cute female bear. Smiley.

According to my crazy stastician skills, I calculated that "real Satoshi" with 1736 Activity, 1399 Merit and 13260 posts means that jacktheking with 1414 Activity, 1001 Merit and 2997 posts is ...

Had to take off my mask for this Angry

This is my blood-related brother picture. Or were you him? Or maybe his Doppelgänger? Either way, I am certain you are trying to use his picture to scam the people of Bitcointalk. So, according to your rule, I am going to "withdraw" you Bitcoin now.

On topic: I am just going to post my brain wallet: "DarkStar_ is a professional scammer".

100 Years later and my account and Bitcoin addresses will probably be inactive.

Hey you, the guy/woman who is reading this in year 2119, it's great to know that my post still survived in the wasteland of Bitcointalk (or probably some archive site).

I followed you from your topic in Reputation to Scam Accusations then finally here.

Normally I wouldn't reply to topics like these but one thing caught my attention ...
(I can't reply to other topics as it will be off-topic. My best take would be this Youtube introduction topic then.).

For the record, as of March 2019, I am 21 years old and am legally allowed to gamble with cryptocurrency tokens in my jurisdiction (Singapore) as they are not classified as legal tender by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Singaporean here too and I am surprised to see Singaporean admitting that he gambles online. To be honest, I know that Cryptocurrency is not regulated by MAS but I never go in depth to check if gambling with it is prohibited. Thanks for the information. Would it be possitble to get a confirmation from MAS on this issue?

Fun fact: AFAIK, there is one legendary Bitcointalkers from Singapore that developed online casino for others.

(excuses me for giving just one merit - I am almost out of sMerit).

Gaming Wise: Blackshot. SD Mode (Bomb). Defender. Hiding at rooftop sniping. Last man standing, vs two enemies defending the planted bomb. I ran across an open street with a knife and defused the bomb by backstabbing one of the enemies - the others didn't get back in time. My teammate then stated "best defender of 2015".
