Re: Check out BitcoinDepth.com to see a real-time 3D Orderbook of the crypto market

Finally had the time and idle bandwidth (yes, sharing with a whole swarm of kids streaming almost nonstop) but got to see properly how it looks like with a bit of patience. As I said, really looking forward to being able to use scaling for it, and eventually being able to toggle between the 12 exchanges you use. Not that I might be able to use this to trade, but the visualisation itself is quite something. Still refreshing to see in a hotpot of boring TA charts!

Links to view the individual orderbooks are there now as well as some basic camera controls using the mouse.

Will add explanations, scales and such in the next update.  Would be pretty sweet to be able to do a fly through using Oculus or something down the road lmao..

Couldn't seem to access the camera controls, or my browser/computer is struggling, but I'll be sure to check it out perhaps during some idle time. That 4D idea is pretty sweet! Any chance you want to further burden our CPUs with additional types of visualisation? I know this is purely from tapping into exchanges API/data, but I wonder if transactional visualisations might also be possible - perhaps from known addresses or patterns. I'm always looking for these sort of visuals that show us blockchain in a whole new... dimension?

Some idea of what I'm talking about from these old pieces of Bitcoin transactions, though not necessarily using blockchain data.

You actually striked on my next secret project.  More info soon.

Hey man, no harm intended, but how is what you've created different from this? http://data.bitcoinity.org/markets/books/USD

Previously there was coinsight.org as well, with bid/ask sum tracking but its gone now.

edit: nevermind, I see now.

Its like chartbuddy, but live. And I loved chartbuddy. See here: https://bitco.in/forum/threads/chartbuddy-archive-thread.1173/page-335

Yup,  pretty much a mash up of bitcoinity's combined orderbook and chartbuddy's 3d view.  Might not be a completely new concept, however I registered the domain over 2 years ago so it's something I've had in mind for a while. Wink

Actually fascinated by this work, not because it is already perfect or I fully understand the usefulness of it but because of its ingenuity. This is the first time that I see a real-time 3D model of the order book from different exchanges. I'm actually getting mesmerized by it by just looking and staring at it.  Grin It definitely paints a different picture about the market (be it a good one/useful one or not) and really needs some familiarization to use it to its full extent.

Is it safe for me to assume that you are the owner of this website? Do you have any plan to improve it in the future?

Appreciate the positive feedback.  Ideas are definitely welcome.

This was my secret weapon but since my holdings have been completely obliterated I figured I might as well release it into the wild.

I have some improvements in mind like adding more pairs, explanations, camera controls and being able to see further back or even fly backwards in time etc..

Some  features are really resource intensive (processing power, storage, bandwidth) so I might make it subscription-based if there's demand.

FINALLY a thing with beautiful design in crypto market. I have always cared about the ease of use and UX more than the features because if you make it harder to understand whats the point of having bunch of features that I can't even understand let alone use. I rather use something with a great UX and amazing design than go with something that has a million features that I will never use as a basic trader.

This looks like it has been done by someone either knows design or a designer themselves, the beauty on the page and the ease that I can understand what stands for what, it is amazing. I hope many will follow the path for better design.

Thank you for the positive comments.  UX is definitely not my strong suit, so it must be the data that's beautiful I guess.

Might release some of my bigger / badder toys if this gets enough interest.  I keep them classified for now though, wouldn't want those to fall into the wrong hands.  Wink

BitcoinDepth.com - see a 3D real-time combined orderbook of the crypto market

This tool used to be my secret weapon.   I made a lot of money with it but recently lost it all due to being a degenerate trader LOL ;(.

Since I can't do anything with it anymore, I figure I might as well release it to the public... might be useful for you day-traders still in the game.

See a 3D real-time combined orderbook of USD_BTC, USD_ETH, USD_LTC pairs here:
https://bitcoindepth.com

Orderbook data pulled from: Binance, Bitstamp, Bitfinex, Coinbase, Kraken, Huobi, Poloniex, OKEx, Bitmex, Deribit, HitBTC, Gemini

See the market like you've never seen it before..

Some tips :
1] To see the books of individual exchanges you can modify the URL like:
https://bitcoindepth.com#channel/USDT_BTC@Binance

2] If you like to view multiple pairs simultaneously, visit:
https://bitcoindepth.com/iframes2

3] Tested working in Google Chrome. Disable throttling of background timers at chrome://flags if you want it to keep rendering while the tab is hidden.

This barely scratches the surface of what I have underwraps...  there's a lot of possible improvements for sure, like adding more pairs, camera controls and such.
It takes substantial processing power and bandwidth to run so we'll see how things turn out.  If there's potential, I may release the rest.

Suggestions welcome.  Cheers.

Yep, adding scales is first on my TODO list.

One thing I forgot to mention:
The orderbook is combined from 12 exchanges, but we know there are minor price variations as well as there being both spot and derivatives exchanges.
So I haven't combined them exactly 1-to 1.  For example, currently I've given higher weight to spot exchanges vs derivatives, e.g.,  Bitmex's book is only factored in at 10% (because their book is so massive compared to everyone elses) while Gemini is factored in at 100%.  Weighting might be something the user can customize in a later version.

For day-traders, you'll be able to see the benefit on bigger price moves.

BTC-e was the most reliable exchange with the best running track record and the one I trusted most far above all others.  The record also shows that BTC-e has acted with integrity when its service was compromised and it restored customers' funds (the 2012 incident).  Just because there might be a few rotten apples on the site doesn't make it even remotely acceptable to take everyone else's money (and life savings mind you).  I really hope BTC-e pulls through this.

This exchange is fucking riddled with bugs.  Wanna know why it's so laggy?  Cause it's written in PHP, and not the best engineered code I suspect.  I really expect a security hole to be found one of these days, all coins emptied out leaving the exchange bankrupt.  Just my 2c..

It's definitely not working right. I've been having trouble trying to create orders and cancel existing orders. It seems to be on a user-to-user basis as a friend was having issues earlier when everything seemed fine for me, now the situation is reversed.

Strangely enough withdrawal is still working... so I've done the only thing that can be done and taken out some money.  Watch your backs out there fellas and don't keep all your eggs in one basket.

Re: Any BTC Miner (Antminer or R4) Fires occur... ever? (w/ proper elect. wiring)??
by

Hi, all 3 pci-e connectors were plugged in and both hashboards were operational until recently.  One interesting thing is the data socket and cable was also burnt although not as bad.. so what ever happened also happened to the data cable.

From the view of an Engineer well versed in power systems, seeing just that one PCIe connector burnt is highly suspicious.
Either:
A) The board was powered by just that one connector. If so, of course it fried...
B) Very bad sockets in the PCIe cable feeding it. I doo see that there is no solder fillet around the pins where they join the board. I will assume that there is good solder on the backside. Lack of a bead on top is not good but not conclusive.

One problem with "B" -- if all 3 connectors were being used, they should have picked up the slack resulting from the poor connections. Remember: All 3 of the PCIe connectors are in parallel. In no way could there have been enough current through them (bad connections) to burn it and the 2 good connectors show no signs of overload at all rg, turning brown.

Wow, yes, looking at the mining history, I lost internet for 4 hours on March 28th, this is exactly when the miner stopped functioning.  I can't believe this known issue hasn't been resolved since forever.

Did you lose internet connection?
That is one situation when burns occur.

So I replaced the burnt PCI connector, power and data cables and by some miracle the hashing board still works.

Does anyone know what would cause something like this?

So... this just happened:

Not quite sure what the cause is yet but the other hash board is still working fine..  The data cable was also burnt.

Please use caution and place these things away from any combustable materials.

Re: Antminer R4 - dead hash board? Shitty design, read before you send it back
by

BTW, the control board has 3 ports for hashboards.  Try swapping the cable of the the flaky hashboard to the unused port.

Should have read this thread before buying an R4.  But I couldn't help myself.
So I have one from batch 5.  7.5 TH/s.  It actually runs about 7 Th/s.

The first board tends to go dead about every 12 hours.  But to look at the Miner Status screen it's hard to tell.  See below.  Everything looks fine.  But Board 1 is not actually hashing.  The only giveaway is the temps.  But everything else about it is bogus!  We re-flashed the firmware to see if that will help.  Anyone else see anything similar?

For anyone contemplating updating your 7.5th firmware, even though it should be the same, there are differences withe the one installed on the antminer and the one available on Bitmain's website.  I highly recommend you don't update, I did and one of my hashboards died not 30 minutes after...

From this screenshot it looks like the lower average must have come from a lost internet connection.  Do you have any screenshots that shows that the board actually stops hashing?
