Board Mining (Altcoins)
Re: PhoenixMiner 5.7b: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux)
by

on 28/09/2021, 01:44:41 UTC
The  new  version  is  finally  ready.  You  can  download  PhoenixMiner  5.8a  from  here:

PhoenixMiner_5.8a_Windows.zip Github
PhoenixMiner_5.8a_Linux.tar.gz Github

Changes in version 5.8a :
  • LHR disable mode -lhrdis <n>  1 - yes (default), 0 - no
  • Added lock core clock
  • Fixed an issue causing crashing with some RTX 3060/3080/3090 cards
  • Implemented new "turbo" kernels (-clkernel 3) for AMD Polaris cards that can work with the current DAG sizes over 4 GB. Note that -clkernel 3 uses double the VRAM and will
provide slightly faster hashrate with slightly higher power consumption. You can use the -rvram command-line parameter to specify how much VRAM to be left unused
  • Increased the maximum supported DAG epoch to 600 (i.e. until about Sep 2023)
  • Implemented full hardware control for AMD RX6900/6800/6700 cards under Linux. Note that with these cards under Linux you need to specify relative core voltage: e.g. -
cclock -50 will set the core voltage to be 50 mV under the default value
  • Added ROCr kernels for Vega, Radeon VII and Navi cards. With these kernels you will be able to run these cards with Linux drivers 20.45 and later but the performance will
be lower than with the older PAL drivers and kernels. We recommend using AMD Linux driver 20.30 for all cards except RX6900/6800/6700
  • Fixed an issue causing crashing with some RX6900/6800/6700 cards under Linux (there is no need to run these cards with -clkernel 0 anymore)
  • Added support for AMD Windows drivers up to 21.8.1. Note that Radeon VII cards will not work with drivers 21.6.1 or higher - you need to use older drivers for proper
    operation of these cards
  • Added support for AMD Linux drivers up to 21.20 (use older drivers for Vega or Radeon VII cards as they will not work with 21.20). Note that the latest 21.30 drivers are
not supported (and the initial testing shows that even the older Polars cards are not working properly with them, so avoid 21.30 for now)
  • Numerous other fixes and small improvements

Please let us know if you have any problems or questions related to PhoenixMiner 5.8a

Yes, it is possible and as of today the best example is Hasbro Children Hospital in United States. There are only few hospitals yet that accept BTC as payment though. Its because BTC is not yet that popular on other areas and some areas banned BTC in the 1st place.

I guess the value will remain constant at this rate, it may go lower or higher but not like last year as the trend is no longer that trendy. We should no longer hope for higher value instead hope for more opportunities for bitcoin users to have. Like application to real life. buying stuff to more companies and etc.

Re: Bitcoin uses too much energy?
by
jamesblue1
on 27/08/2018, 08:28:57 UTC
This is alarming ,it may not be that dangerous because we can't see the larger picture of the situation. Energy consumption in this year is continuing to rise up regardless of the price of BTC. 0.5% of world ENERGY is expected to be consume only by bitcoin. But the ideology of many people is "it is worth it as long as we get profit out of it" Yes it is correct that we get money out of it, but, will the environment be in danger for these? Well, Bitcoin mining can double a country’s electricity consumption and putting pressure on its infrastructure.

But how do we limit the damage to environment while still earning money?
-limit the impact of such energy consumption
There should be restrictions of using so much power on these mining equipment to every country to avoid energy shortage

Re: IS IT TRUE THAT CYRPTOWORLD IS PRUNE TO HACKERS?
by

Hackers are everywhere and you can't do anything about that. Sad reality. Anyway, those hackers target large companies, BIG people and even like us, downloading software thru online makes you prone to it, unless you store your coins using cold storage or if you are able to use two-way authentication. The best way to encourage people who are scared to get hacked is to educate them about the things i mentioned.

Re: What do you suppose will happen when BTC loses it's dominance?
by

on 25/08/2018, 19:29:03 UTC
5% is a lot dude, It cant happen now, atleast not this year for sure. But if it happens, then probably altcoins will be affected negatively too. Therefore dominance is still there as it is like the founding father of altcoins. Not to mention that Bitcoin is the most well-known and has been widely used.

Not that most of them lack knowledge about it, maybe they are just not that interested. Anyone who has interest on a certain thing will surely do his best to have knowledge about it. The other problem that most people occur is that they aren't patient enough to wait or do tasks that take time.

Its so easy, before you die or when you know that you have health issues or your life is being threatened, then simply make a note that your family can only open when you're gone. That note should contain not just the keys/passwords but also on how they are able to get the funds.

It will reach its peak if only there is no other option for btc to be used, but we're seeing big companies adopting bitcoin as one of ther modification of payment, with this we can still see improvements in the future. Its just that its really not good to invest anymore for now.

You could have done a lot of things with that money, means you shouldnt put large sums of money  to a very delicate investment. But what happend cant be brought back, all you can now do is hold it for a little longer, dont worry about losing more because you already lose a lot. Why not gamble it for more time?

Not the end, but probably the beginning of a new average line in the graph will prevail. As long as bitcoin is alive, its value will always be unpredictable. In other  words ,bitcoin wont die. The value will keep on changing over time.

Re: How to avoid bitcoin scams (for newbies)
by
jamesblue1
on 17/08/2018, 02:30:12 UTC
If you have any addition to these common tips i gave please let us know.
The tips are nice but I think there is an advice lacking in it. IMO, another tip you can give them is not following the hype most of the time since some newbies follow expert's views blindly. It might not make them lose all of their money but if they always listen to what the general public say about the market, then them losing a substantial amount of money from the mistakes they will make is very likely.

Yeah ..thats a good suggestion too.

As a newbie, I really appreciate this post! Clear, to the point, and with important information! Thank you! Now, which of all these is your preferred one?

The best one FOR ME is coinbase. But if you prefer a safer storage ,then use an offline storage. There are lots of other exchangers that are good too, just that most of them have their own lapses just like coinbase.

While your at it, may I request that you also create "How-to" instruction in depositing fiât to these exchanges, as the tips mentioned are somewhat in the middle of the process already. Thanks

Thanks.. I will do it next time, I cant prepare them yet but I will.

Ok then, can you give advice please, which one from those exchange you preferred ?
Based on your own experience. I haven't tried yet those exchanger above, just binance and coinbase that I've ever tried

There is a link posted by one of more experienced in terms of exchanges in this post . It contains better and more precise exchangers as it is updated.

There are positive and negative impacts that might happen in the future and I know you knew that already. And yes, he agreed on taking the risks as you have explained to him. Therefore it is not your responsibility if he lose most of the money. To tell you, that money is huge and I hope you will be able to make profits in the future rather than losing. Just encourage your uncle and believe in the BULL.

Re: 😎 [ANN] The Utmost Epic, Totally Tubular sMerit Giveaway ~ 170 sM Available 😎
by
jamesblue1
on 15/08/2018, 16:23:11 UTC
Bitcoin is a unique and trendy topic when it comes to mind especially when it comes to profits and earnings that many of us can get. Therefore many
newbies get interested and becomes prone to scammers. So here are some of the tips I learned from my friend that I wish to share:

Tip #1 Fake and imitation wallets and exchanges
To start with, as someone who is new to bitcoin you will have to deposit your money, right? Therefore you must exchange your $$$ to BTCBTCBTC. But how do we deposit w/out being scammed or hacked? Well, for me it's best to use the well-known exchanger. Here are some w/ their own pros and cons:

Coinbase
+ easy to use and set up, gdax is a friendly interface
+ seem to be fewer problems withdrawing money than other exchanges
 - tends to go down during traffic spikes
 - limited to BTC/ETH/LTC
 - randomly shutting down accounts/customer service

Poloniex
+ highest volume for many coin pairs
 - lots of complaints about withdrawing money
 - goes down periodically (went down for 3 days in August)

Bittrex
 + lots of currency pairs
 + reliable, never goes down
 - clunky interface

Kraken
+ seem to be fewer problems withdrawing
 - slow to get verified
 - very slow during peak traffic

Bitfinex
 + nice interface
 - seem to be withdrawing problems
 - customer service
 - no support for USA customers after October 2017

Gemini
 + low fees
+ available in more locations (Washington state, New York)
 - takes long time to register

Liqui
 + easy to use
 - can't withdraw fiat currency
 - seem to be problems withdrawing currency sometimes

Binance
 + good customer service
 + low transfer fees
 + gives gas for neo
 - slow under heavy load

Tip #2 Never trust anyone
Someone would probably chat you through various social media. Well, don't trust anyone, it's best to block them ASAP especially when they will teach you how to earn a lot easily. There's no easy money here. And lastly, don’t send money or bitcoin anywhere unless you know exactly who you’re sending it to.

Tip #3 Virus and malware downloads
This is the most common and the most easy way of hacking today when we download applications that contain malware and virus. As always, you shouldn’t click on unknown email attachments or potentially dangerous links.

But there are ways to secure your security even if you have downloaded malware/virus in your PC or phones.
-Use two-factor authentication
-Use a “cold” offline wallet. A “hot” wallet is one that’s connected to the Internet, while a “cold” wallet is one that’s held offline.

you should be able to know about these two ways if you want to secure your bitcoin wallets.

Tip #4 Common sense
This is probably the best tip I can give, always use your common sense before making your decision. If you buy, then know what or how you should be able to buy it safely, or even trading money. Never believe on too-good-to-be-true opportunities and lastly, always do a research about everything you haven't known yet. Bitcoin is very complex and requires you to keep on learning, avoiding to get scammed is part of it.

If you have any addition to these common tips i gave please let us know .Let's help each other especially those who are still new to this environment.

Here's my best shot sir. I hope you'll take time to read it. Thank you for this opportunity, if I cant get any I'll do better.

As of today bitcoin is still the BEST coin whatever lapses it has. But i think things will change in the future, positively or negatively in terms of bitcoin being the top. But bitcoin has the strongest foundation though.

Re: Computer virus used to steal cryptos?
by
jamesblue1
on 15/08/2018, 14:26:08 UTC
The best thing to do is to have a two-way authenticator or store these coins offline . Even virus in your computer cant penetrate if you use these kinds of method.

Here are some method on where to store it using offline method. This is the safest way though.
1. On a USB drive or other storage media
2. On a Paper wallet
3. On a bearer item such as a physical bitcoin
4. Use a offline Bitcoin Hardware wallet

Step 1 — Create a bootable USB flash drive.
Step 2 — Create a cold wallet.
Step 3 — Create a “watch-only” wallet in the main OS or mobile phone.
Step 4–Spend Bitcoins in a secured way.

Re: Why I don't Support KYC in cryptocurrency as it is
by

KYC on ICO's? I myself hate doing it so. It takes time and doesn't make sense at all because even the people behind those projects aren't even presenting their faces.. It is part of our privacy but I guess this is how it works. If we want to give them our information then maybe we should accept the risks.

If this is true, then how are we able to ensure anonymity? I understand that we really need to undergo KYC, but it should be held for bitcoin users itself and not to be shared to other people especially the government.

Re: Bitcoin situation
by
jamesblue1
on 14/08/2018, 16:41:24 UTC
Bitcoin is unpredictable. either drop or go up it would still continue in this state unless bitcoin is going to be the only coin available. Sadly there are lots of other coins too including etherium and other more.. Thus people also decide differently everytime, we can't blame them either because they also need to gain profit from trading.
