The only solution I found for the taking over 5 minutes to intialize Claymore.  Is reinstall os and not 'upgrade' to 1803.   Or  Reduce the number of card in rig to under 5 sometimes 6.   There is something that happened with 1803 that causes  claymore initializing process to take much longer.   To the point where if you have anything past 5 or 6 cards it times out at a hard coded 5 min.  Hope Claymore fixes this problem soon, if he can.   It might be a problem in the OS.  I've been wondering if I was the only one having this problem.

Was wondering if Claymore had a chance to look at this problem of not being able to use more than 6 amd gpus after 1803 upgrade.  And hoping he can provide a projection of if and when he can work around whatever was borked by the "upgrade".

Thanks

Major problems with windows 1803 update.

All of my rigs use  570 or 580

After update.  I can't get any rig to have more than 6 gpus attached, 10 out of 12 I can only get 5 gpus working.
Takes a very long time to initialize claymore miner.
If I try to go past 5 or 6 gpus claymore timesout/reset after 5 min.
Everything was working fine before the 1803 update with latest claymore and amd latest drivers

basically i have the same problem as https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1433925.msg36032619#msg36032619

There is nothing useful in logs/debug.

Vega is ... hot. In stock it takes about 400-450W in dual, 300-350W in ETH-only mode at about 33MH/s. And it's throttling like hell. It's very good in dual mining mode, but it's too hot.
Have you messed with undervolting?

Usually I don't change anything, just use stock clocks/settings. But for this card I will have to change some Wattman settings due to hard throttling, but I found no Wattman. I spent a few days to prepare my tools and code for Vega, but today I finally noticed it: no Wattman for Vega at all. May be because I use Windows 7 instead of Windows 10, I will check it (though it's strange anyway). Also I don't see "gaming mode" button in drivers. ADL does not work too, so I even cannot set 100% fan speed to prevent throttling. AB does not work too. Weird.

There is Watman, its in Gaming Mode for sure.   To find gaming mode its on the bottom left of right after you launch into "radeon pro and firepro settings".  Once your in there its under gaming/global settings.
oops I mean.
