Windows gives many security warnings after downloading latest version PhoenixMiner_6.2c_Windows from first side in this thread.
is this normal behaviour?

Hello. I'm having a problem. I downloaded Phoenix 6.2c for Windows as i always do from the link in the first page of this thread, and the trojan AndroidOs/multiverze infected my computer. I think it is some kind of ransomware. After i rebooted My PC i couldnt even log in.

Well you didnt get it from the official site (the virus).  The files are clean … you can check them.
You can read here but most likely you opened an infected email as it is how it spreads most commonly.

Here is info on it and how to get rid of it.  https://howtofix.guide/trojanandroidos-multiverze/

And way to go maligning good mining software due to your lack of diligence.
I downloaded the miner for Windows from the link in the OP, as you yourself suggested.  I see the same "Tool:AndroidOS/Multiverze" warning in Windows Defender as multiple people mentioned in this thread.  It is clearly coming from PhoenixMiner.exe.

Good security means questioning what you see.  A good download one day can be switched out for malware the next.  You shouldn't be so condescending to people trying to practice good security.

Sure it may be a known false positive warning, but it wasn't listed in the OP and it obviously wasn't known to you.

Good security is one thing. However not having the intelligence to read 100's of comments that they have loaded an invalid malware version is something else.
Some people are just cut out to mine. They don't know how to read, and if you can't read then there is no hope for these people. They just waste everyone's time and take up space
on the forum with the same problem over and over. Every time I look here for news I see people that are not capable. Same issues over and over and over and over.
Everyone thinks they have a virus, and they most likely do. But, it's not the fault of the developers. It's that they can't follow instructions. How can anyone
help people like that? A fifth grader can load the correct software.

Oh look another brand new register with zero merit and 1 post claiming hes being maligned but the truth is PM is safe always has been … ive run it for years….no issue.  You should read the almost 500 pages of this thread and understand PM has been attacked and maligned many times by the likes of you and never has it proved out true.   Maybe read more type less…until you have something helpful to add.  The person you are defending d/l the virus from either a bad link (not from OP) or from another source.  PM has made far more coin with the % from miners than would be gained by compromising some low post count miners computer.

Does anyone other than me get tired of either these dummies that don't know how to load and run the correct version of Phoenix or they are intentionally just spouting crap that this software
is a virus? I started with Phoenix almost day one, it is not malware. I have used it exclusively ever since I loaded the first version and am still running it today.
Everytime I log in here I see a post that Phoenix is malware. IT IS NOT. Holy cow people. Educate yourself.

Has anyone been able to fix that problem ;  Too many invalid share RTX 3070 (non-LHR)

Not enough info. What pool? PhoenixMiner version?

v6.2c

Tested on All pool, all diff.  Result same; too many invalid share    estimated %20-25

OC too high, what settings do you use?

I no need ordinary answers  like  OC too high.  I am not a beginner about mining.
Phoenix have chronic problem with RTX 3070's about invalid share.
it is not related to oc .

all other miners works good with same OC settings  . except Phoenix.
even if i never do any OC and let default GPU setting I get many invalid.

If you are such an experienced miner you do know that same OC settings across all miners does not hold if you want the best performance.
To me you still give very vague answers so no one is going to help you out without more info than just saying PhoenexMiner is giving too many invalid shares which to me sound more like FUD by now.

OC too high ! reguardless of what you say. !

Hi !

wtf ? the first page link to the "officiel" download is infected....

i mean, i DL the 5.9d , the ZIP totally freeses the PC, and a f*ù$în malware is detected right away !

" AndroidOS/Multiverze "

i mean.... WTF ? Huh

and nobody talks about it Huh

allready got it like weeks ago, formatted the PC and forgot about upgrading, but the pb is still there !  Cry

Windows always detects it as a virus. But as long as you download it from the first page it's safe. If you are having issues I think there might be other issues other than the miner

i know windows defender freaks out with miners, no problem about that.

this (test)  rig was freshly formatted, nothing downloaded yet, i get PM 5.9d and it freaks out, so we can ignore external factor i guess...

legit miner always get flagged as a miner of some sort, not as a trojan with a totally different name/usage , afaik..

so can just someone maybe just check the files ? or confirm the legit files are supposed to bet detected as this...  Sad

In fact you can check them yourself with the given checksum file/hash instead of asking someone else to do it for you if you are so freaking out about it.

The new beta version is ready. It is mostly a bugfix release, the more significant upgrades are coming next month. You can download PhoenixMiner 5.9b from here:

To check the integrity of the downloaded file, please use the following hashes (you need the last file PhoenixMiner_NVRTC_Windows.zip only if you want to mine BCI with Nvdia cards under Windows):

The new features in this release are:

  • Show the GPU vendor name in the list of GPUs to make it easier to identify the GPUs
  • Added support for the latest AMD Linux drivers 21.40.1. There are some bugs in these drivers, particularly the clocks and voltages can't be set properly with older cards (RX4x0/RX5x0/Vega/RadeonVII)
  • Validated support for the latest AMD Windows drivers up to 21.11.2
  • Fixed issues with AMD RX6700XT cards with the latest AMD and Linux drivers
  • Fixed issues with AMD Vega and Radeon VII cards on latest Windows and Linux drivers
  • Fixed crash with very old Nvidia drivers (3xx.x)
  • Other fixes and small improvements

The updated list of known issues (driver incompatibilities, etc.) and workarounds:

  • AMD Linux driver 21.40.1 has a bug preventing proper setting of clocks and voltages on older cards (RX4x0/RX5x0/Vega/RadeonVII). Given that these drivers are also usually slower than the older drivers for these cards, we recommend using Linux drivers 20.30 for anything older than RX6000 series.
  • If you are using Linux drivers 21.40.1 with Radeon VII cards, you need to add the option -fpwm 1 in order to have proper fan control.
  • AMD Linux drivers 21.40.1 has finally removed the requirement of PCIe atomics but there are problems when you try to mix Polaris (RX4x0/5x0) cards and Vega or newer cards on the same rig.
  • Some Nvidia cards will report a lot of stale shares under Windows 11. Using the same driver version under Windows 10 resolves the issue.

For more robust integrity check, you can use our GPG public key, which was verifyed with ETH transaction from our main devfee account as explained here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2647654.msg56755869#msg56755869. Here are the signatures for the files in this release:

Superb RX6700 XT now running with optimised kernels under ubuntu with 21.30 thanks. Will play with 21.40.1 driver later looking to get multi gpus running under ubuntu 20.04 LTS with latest drivers that would be most welcome.

Hope you updating the first page also with the new download links , as i watching and fighting the Fake Github links now nearly a year !
I also report them on Github when its possible , it looks like a never ending story but i dont give up on that .
Fingers crossed that not anymore Users fall into the trap of the Fake Links that are mostly posted from Hacked Accounts.

Today seems quiet normally when i pop in there is a fake post and when it gets taken down another replaces it promptly but not today. :-)

[moderator's note: consecutive posts merged]

I really wish all you guys would STOP putting and recopying the links to PhoenixMiner versions and updates. It looks to similar to the malware versions that other post out here. Stop It Please.
If you want tell tell someone where it is just point them to the 1st page of this forum. There are multiple posts that duplicate the links and someone is going to download the wrong one. There is
no need to keep reposting the links.

I guess I'm one of the happy miners today.
I did the upgrade to 5.8b yesterday. My speed increased from 166.25 to 166.683 MH/s
Not a big gain but it is an improvement and I like it. No issues at all so far.
Been running 24 hrs.

Thanks Phoenix

Does anyone else remember the good-old days when the Phoenix developers actually read their own forum and
posted updates and answered questions. They used to try to improve the product and put out fixes and new releases.
Alas, me thinks those days are gone with the wind.
maybe they are working on exactly those goals so hard that there is no time for forum ... or maybe they ended up having kids and that takes the forum time away Smiley

but I hope next version have that dag buffering thing for zil mining Smiley
yea, that it

this is why i don't like chatting with people that worship linux.

I happen to agree with you. It seems all my life people who use linux are in a mindless cult and anyone else not
using it are all idiots. You cannot converse with them without them looking down on you for not following their cult.

One of the most important items you mentioned was READ THE readme.txt FILE.
I see so many that do not read it and many times their issues would be solved if they just would
Read and Study that information. Read that info dozens of times and let it sink in. Then
read it again.

Hi

Suddenly @ 13:30 GMT+2 on the 22 of August, my PhoenixMiner reports error while mining ETC on 3 GB cards

GPU1: Starting up… (0)
GPU1: Generating etchash light cache for epoch #223
Listening for CDM remote manager at port 3335 in read-only mode
Eth: New job #7e8cde29 from eu-etc.hiveon.net:8888; diff: 5000MH
Eth: New job #778ea926 from eu-etc.hiveon.net:8888; diff: 5000MH
Light cache generated in 4.3 s (10.2 MB/s)
GPU1: Free VRAM: 2.966 GB; used: 0.018 GB
GPU1: Disabling DAG pre-allocation (not enough VRAM)
GPU1: Allocating DAG for epoch #223 (2.74) GB
GPU1: Allocating buffers failed with: clCreateBuffer (-61).

Fatal error detected. Restarting.

As far as I knwo we are far ( 1 year ) from being at epoch so DAG file size is over 3 GB

Other miners continue to work properly ( e.g. : lolminer )

I use 5.7b but also tried with 5.4c

Any idea ?

I have the same problem, anyone found solution ?

one card in system? miner card connect to monitor?

The number of cards does not matter. The same on 1 card. Two, four. Connecting the monitor also does not matter. It was working normally. It stopped working on all computers overnight. I am currently using lolminer and it works fine. But I'd rather go back to Phoenix Miner ... I just don't know how.

I'm mining ETC ...

Same problem with 280x 3gb, will anyone solve this??

Hello,
The same problem here with r9 280/280x. Is there any solution?

I'm going to assume that you have done this ?

 -rvram  -1

If not, then do that.

Well PM 5.7b is finally running.. with the AMD 21.1.8.1
I know I am an impatient person..
With 5.5c it was about 10-20 seconds I had to wait before I could see the openCL drivers were loaded and the rest of the config file was executed.

but waiting for 5-6 minutes to finally see that the miner is actually start to load the openCL drivers and read the rest of the config file...
Is the long waiting period all have to do with the extra setting features in PM?

I understand it has something to do with the pentium (3,3Ghz) CPU I use, but from 10-20 sec to 5-6 minutes waiting is a bit much in my opinion.. Anything I can do to shorten this? without upgrading my CPU..
I also use 16Gb of RAM..

any help much appreciated

I think is something else other than the CPU processor.
This is what I'm using and 5.7b comes up and runs in seconds for me.

Processor   Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G4400 @ 3.30GHz, 3312 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
Also same memory 16Gb

I can see it, this is no where going forum, but my problem is wired. PhoenixMiner 5.6b everything works, on PhoenixMiner 5.7b one GPU doesn't work, I'm noob, so I don't know much about setting up the files, that's why I put the log up to see if someone from here help brother out.

This might sound harsh but here it is.
Sometimes users here can help you, sometimes not. Sometimes they want to help, sometimes they don't.
Phoenix people rarely post here anymore so you'll get very little or none from developers, they now depend on users
to do help and troubleshooting.

If you have no experience in mining and no ability to think on your own and do sequential logical troubleshooting and testing
and you are relying on others to kindly guide you through all your issues step by step you are probably in the wrong business.
Mining is NOT a plug and play project, it doesn't work that way. There are hundreds of combinations and setting that you will
have to do on your own. Sorry if the truth stings a bit.

If you want to try something try downgrading to Windows Driver 20.4.1
I have all AMD cards and use 5.7b Phoenix.
The reason I haven't put newer drivers in is because I have no issues at all with that combination.

Maybe there is an unknown issue with the newest drivers you installed and the latest Phoenix.
Good Luck

Unfortunately seems like part of a smearing campaign towards Phoenix miner. For all of you reading these kind of posts from newbies please disregard them and always before clicking the link, hover your mouse over the link to see the complete link.Once you do so you will see this does not lead to the official Phoenix miner website but to an infected Github account. No matter how many times we report these kind of threads these kind of worthless users seem to pop up even more,so just be careful and follow my advice and that of many others which says the same.

Edit:Post removed by moderators and I removed the links.

Curious as to why newbie's have rights to post links in the first place.
This would all stop if users except for members and above could only post links.
I've been on here for years and never had a good reason to post a link and I'd be fine without that privilege.

The new beta version is finally ready. You can download PhoenixMiner 5.7b from here:

I tried this latest version.

My Goldfish got Fin &tail rot.
Both my dogs got ticks and fleas.
My wife had a fling with the postman and I got arrested for smoking pot in church.

I would advise to not use it.

What percent of rejected shares you have? Not percent that showed by miner. Just take all rejected shares and divide by all shares and multiply by 100.
Currently running at 0.54% rejected. What do you think. Too Hight ?
No, it's not too high... But TR even on nicehash gives only 0.3%. You mine not on nicehash?
No, I use ethermine. Started with them way back from day one.
