As with most projects when you deal with multiple teams/projects, sometimes the 1 team does not stay current with the schedule. The ASIC is its own project, and the developer we had hired for the exchange has been fired due to his delays (and replaced). XC has its own team and I am only assisting with it where I can, other projects have no bearing on XC.

Once the rewrite is complete we will begin building out the interchain which will allow communication between blockchains (without the need of sidechains). This will build out the basis for the network that will allow end to end encrypted communication and transfer of data. Think of it like TOR, if TOR was not created by the US military with likely multiple backdoors. There is a lot to do still before we get to that point, but the amount of flexibility that the coins wallet will support will likely be shocking. This is what you get when you write the code with a goal in mind rather than patching it with little knowledge of how to write the code in the first place.
The coin is being rewritten in clean code, in OOP, with unit testing...unlike btc. Think of the changes going into play taking the same amount of effort that was required to write bitcoin in the first place. But this time including all the features that were missing from btc.
The coding is moving along nicely, most of the difficult items are completely rewritten now. After a couple more items are done the developers will be moving onto integrating the multisig, plugins, anonymity/mixing, and tons of little items to the blockchain that will change the way crypto is utilized. It will be funny when everything is done to see people forking Cache to get their starting base rather than other coins. 
The site is getting lots of traffic from the ccn article and many downloads. We also had meetings the last 3 days at 53&park in which xc was a part of the talks. Its not just the crypto world seeing the potential here now.

The presentation at the DC conference is starting to produce fruits. Just fyi we also got a valuation of XC completed and lets just say the marketers + lobbyists + investors that were bull on XC are filling up now.

XC is just the first step into having what everyone has been asking for since satoshi wrote his whitepaper. I would say XC + platform represent about 20% of the teams final goals. So if you are clearing out your xc holdings, I feel sorry for you son.
Short term you'd probably be crazy to sell now prior to ATC coming back with (presumably) positive news from the conference.
That said, this Cache coin stuff at first blush is... not great. Anything that dilutes features, investor interest, etc. away from XC and into another coin, particularly one with essentially zero market cap prior to today (no offense to dev) is negative.
What would be fine is if XC has features that allow other coins to integrate into it, but DO NOT encourage investors to invest in those other coins.

That is not how it would function, and all great feats take a while to accomplish. While people may not ride the train on an alt that is doing something innovative and the market cap is low, it does not make the achievements pushed out by the dev any less. I am sure no one will complain when its completed, it will solve 90% of crypto's adoption issues across businesses websites/point of sale systems. Most of the issues that people have with adopting crypto has to do with bugs in the code causing issues. Shoot, even in the new btc protocol there is a huge bug that would enable theft of an exchanges entire balance. These types of things cannot be ignored for months like is being done currently, so we are addressing the issue.
This is about innovation and adoption. If you demand that there be "One coin to rule them all." Then you may as well be saying what the btc promoters are saying: "Alt coins are unnecessary, bitcoin has everything we need already."
