I was thinking about installing MinerGate the other day, but many youtube videos put me off it. But at the same time, many of those channels are very much elitists when it comes to mining (as many people on this board are too).
I mean, I am a "noob".. I only started a week ago.. which was possibly one of the worst possible weeks I could have started.
Testing it for myself is the only real way I can completely form an opinion of it. I'm having no luck with other miners so it's worth the shot.

Yeah, something isn't right. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt. Being a software dev myself I know how frustrating it is when something isn't working as intended and despite working on it non-stop, people start jumping ship.
But right now I'm just not hitting good enough profit targets for WinMiner to be viable, but at the same time I've tried so many other miners this week and they have only earned me a couple of cents.

I have not found any decent alternatives. I will share what I have converted over to for the time being and hope it helps someone. My solution for now is as follows:
My rigs run the equihash algo very efficiently. For this reason I have chosen to mine bitcoin gold and electroneum. I am using the suprnova pool. Pool stability has been good and I like the low fees. I have been using ccminer software and I feel it is the easiest option to setup and configure. Also, I have found most of the downloads for it are free from malware.
You may want to forgo the electroneum coin. I consider myself very technical when it comes to all things IT. I am a new to average user when it comes to cryptocurrency . The wallet is very difficult and I am not sure I can gain access to my original one. I have made a 2nd wallet with a gui implementation and so far I am still able to access that one. So if you like a challenge then give this a shot.
We tried Suprnova and other BTG pools and always had issues with the payout amounts, which always seemed to disagree with their own calculators. Electroneum is based on CryptoNight, not Equihash
Not sure about desktop wallet(if there's one), but paper wallet can be generated in seconds and extremely easy from their official site: https://downloads.electroneum.com/- no technical knowledge required.
@cryptokrazy- Try electroneum.vip pool, it worked great for me over the weekend(unlike the official pool which wasted my time and hashing power).
I hear they just dropped the block value by half 2 hours ago.

I am hoping that VTC is not included in the graph as I have been mining constantly since 6des and the past 2-3 days the earnings have dropped to 1/3 of what they were when the VTC pool was down. And yes the miner selected VTC but all I see is my CPU`s earnings.
I expect that it will be added on later, otherwise I`m taking my mining rig elsewhere (I have no need for another shady mining business in my life).

Currently in the same boat. I stopped mining a few hours ago and my money is slowly creeping up. But until I know for sure that I'm not burning more electricity than I'm earning, I'm going to leave it a few days/weeks.

Is there any delay in registering numbers under 'Statistics' page? The reported numbers seem very low considering the pace at which WinMiner is earning (under 'Live' page).
I agree, there is a delay now in updating the income, I wonder what is happening. I can give an example for this. Let's say I can make it like 5USD/hr. Before, WM will update every hour, and it added up 5USD/hr for me, but now, like, at 10am, my wallet has 5USD. 11am, nothing happens. 11:30, it ticks up to 10USD. Then, it will do like that for the next hours. That means, every hour, we lose some bucks, added up for a whole day, that could be a big money.
Usually I will believe there is a decrease/increase of income, but I also made a log to update from my computer for every hour, and did some math, and I found out that I lost almost 30% of my income. Where did all those bucks go?
?? I am ok if you said that you are having tons of things to do to scale up, but will my fund be back later then? At least, please clarify everything to us users.I used WM for a long time, and I love it. But this time is out of line, I really need some explanation for this.
There are two issues here -
(1) Balance update - There are delays in the update cycles (once an hour) simply because the database needs more time to crunch the large volume of data. This is the hardest piece to scale and we approach it by streamlining and making the data crunching more efficient and by scaling the hardware. Both take time. However no data is lost so balance display should catch up to the right numbers even if delayed. Let us know if you are seeing something odd there.
(2) VTC - We brought it back and it appears there is something wrong with the share data collection. We are monitoring it and fixing it on the go and will update balances for work that we can identify that has not been compensated for. We prefer not to take it down yet because we think we found the issue and fixed it, but we will soon know and decide on next steps.
I think this is happening to me. I'm pretty much only mining VTC with my GPU, now and then it will change to zen for 10mins or so but 99% of the time its VTC.
My estimate is over $2.00 a day, but I'm barely scraping $1.
My charts show that each day for 4 days I earn $0.15 less and yet I'm mining for longer each day. Yesterday I did a full 24-hour mine at an estimated $2.40 (with Sumo, Zen & VTC being at the highest I'd seen them) but ultimately was my lowest earning day this week.

Taking the $$$ seems to be the most simple yet amateurish approach, and bitcoin has a long waiting list and high transaction fees.
I was thinking maybe cashing out in either Ethereum or Litecoin and converting them into Bitcoin at a later date. I'm pretty new to this, but does that sound like a viable option?.

Think something is up with WinMiner. The stats haven't updated since 15:50 and the past 2 hours aren't showing on the statistics page.

Is there any chance that WinMiner starts mining Vertcoin? It uses Lyra2REv2 algorithm which is very profitable for my 1070 right now.
2 days ago i got a reply saying vtc miner is under performance review.Now its becoming a joke.Lyrarev 2 has been in use for a long time and there is no issue with it.The issue is winminer taking advantage of the vtc profit situation to mine for themselves.Allowing vtc would just increase the difficulty and the profitability would decrease rapidly and it would become a waste.I sense a conspiracy here.
EQUIHASH a well known algorithm for mining,is not implemented.What joke of a mining software is this.Nicehash got hacked but i sense these guys are going to run away with the money.
With all the new nicehash traffic they are getting and the 3%, it would be stupid financially to make a run. Winminer's business has just boomed massively, surely seeing how far you can take it would be the most sensible approach.

Hmm, ETN is not working for me. I should get about 18-20$, but it doesn't even start it's just idle and shows no connection. So I switched to ETN mining directly. Until all problems are solved I'll be mining directly. Hopefully all problems will be over soon and we can benefit from mining with them...
Same thing here it says "No Jobs From Server" when I just select that specific one.
ETN doesn't work for me either.

Say for example my Brother (who lives in a different country) wanted to help me mine.
Is that allowed?
I don't see why not, if your brother enters your e-mail address into the miner, it'll mine for you. If he doesn't have your password, he can't see the balance or do much else except mine for you.Can I use Winminer (the same account) on multiple PC's.

Now if you give him your username and your password, (not recommended) then he could see your balance and make his own withdrawals if he wanted.
