Trading Solana - anyone else do this?
by
jayman5
on 03/08/2025, 20:05:33 UTC
For about a year I've been trading (basic buying/ selling not using Leverage) Solana on Coinbase, I chose solana as its fast, slightly more predictable with a simpler price range & fees are low.

I'm probably about 30% up so far.

Initially the aim was to buy low sell high upon each $5 increase and rinse & repeat if possible accumulating extra Solana on each trade, in the expectation Solana would increase in value in the long term.

Buying in the $120- $160 range was quite easy since there is a high expectation that it would hit that price again following each crash, the risk was at the top end, once it reached about $200 would it continue to go up as it did late last year following Trumps win, or crash again to $120 as it had done multiple times.

Buy here $200 and you risk losing if the price dropped and taking the loss, or having a long wait for it to go up again. Not buying and there is that FOMO.

Solana has gone down again and is likely heading to $120 again given the market sentiment on the economy etc..

So another cycle of $120 - $200 is likely coming up. Maybe trading to accumulate $ rather than Solana is the best approach now?

Anyone else do this?

Trading bitcoin what do you use
by

When people talk about trading bitcoin does anyone just literally buy and sell at the right times rather than deal with futures like shorting etc..

I tried on Solana a few months back with some success the danger was always FOMO at the bottom of the range and being stranded at the top when the market drops.

You can sell and take a big loss or face having to stay off for a few weeks until price recovers

Anyone successfully do this with bitcoin what do you use to help you

Re: How do people make millions with memcoins
by
jayman5
on 06/02/2025, 21:20:37 UTC
Think the game is up on meme coins tried it out summer 2024 and some made large profits, others rugged, in the end just returned to a natural position as used up all the gains on rug pulls, got bored and concentrated on building up my bitcoin instead.

Then when Trump meme came along it was too good to miss and i made a 3 x profit.

This is because memes are all about trust, if you can identify the dev its unlikely they will commit a crime and rug people, that person could end up getting hunted down by those that lost money, or maybe one of the victims is the son of a senior boss of the FBI financial crime unit. "don't worry son we`ll get him".

The idea that a president of US will commit a serious financial crime 3 days before inauguration is almost as crazy as your gran robbing a bank.

That why millions poured money into it because of this trust.

This renewed my interest and spent two weeks after re-visiting memes and just lost the small bets i placed. The state of the meme market now compared to 6 months ago is terrible, 99% are rugged or die quickly, the only way to realistically trade is via trading bots like bonkbot, (dont bother with the connecting your phantom wallet to radium its useless)  the fee% taken off are higher the lower your trade so if you bet 0.1 sol you will start at a -25% loss that you will have to make up anyway before you go into +profit.

So you either bet higher & risk losing more for lower % fees or carry on tiny trades and start out 25% each time.

On my YouTube feed next to the usual crypto / alt coin videos ive started seeing recently videos "how to rug" etc.. claiming "educational purposes only", i saw a couple out of curiosity,  one was a 20 something low IQ sounding moron telling everyone how he does this, reminded me of the story of the 1929 crash when a stockbroker recalled how the shoeshine boy was telling him of all the stocks he had, he said after that encounter he knew it was all coming to an end.

Using Two Trezor Devices on one Trezor Suite anyone do this?
by
jayman5
on 12/01/2025, 21:03:57 UTC
One of my teenage children is getting into Bitcoin, so bought them a Trezor safe 3, however the app wont load on their crappy laptop, leaving only my PC that i use with my Trezor/ Trezor Suite.

I read its possible to use multiple Trezor`s with Trezor Suite, however there`s no guide how to do this.

My main concern is maintaining access to my balance while the device is not plugged in.

If i plug in a new device does that info disappear replacing with the new device balance until i plug mine in again?

Is there a way to switch between both watch wallets while neither are plugged in. For all the YouTube videos on setting up Trezor i couldnt find anything related to this question, which is surprising as i would have thought many people diversify wallets / devices anyway.

Unfortunately because of this "privacy" it has a bad reputation at the gov / regulation level which means many exchanges ban its sale, keeping people away and the price suppressed which will limit its growth in the future.

KASPA what do people think
by
jayman5
on 27/12/2024, 21:36:36 UTC
Anyone bought KASPA?, ive got a small bag however the price has recently dropped. The shills are claiming $10 in the bull run from its current $0.12 but it has hardly moved outside range in the last 12 months or so.

The tech on paper looks good a kind of mini bitcoin 2 but with a much larger supply of 25 billion to bitcoins 21 million, hence its called bitcoin silver by the KASPA community.

What are people`s thoughts on this?

A classic example is Maker MKR, ive hardly heard anyone mention Maker let alone anyone who owns any, yet it has a price of $1590, with just 891,430 and max supply just over a million.

Circulating Supply why the difference in coins
by
jayman5
on 26/12/2024, 21:25:45 UTC
Why have dev`s made Circulating Supply so large for their coins. Some are in the tens of billions & even trillions.

Why didn't they just follow Bitcoin at 21 million, or just limited to 100 million or so?

The reason i ask is the price movement over $1 on some of the coins with the larger supply will always be limited. On coinmarketcap there isnt any coin out there with a CS in the billions more than $2-5 max. The simple reason is the marketcap - price x CS. Your not going to get a bigger marketcap than BitCoin for now anyway.

Electrum Transaction Fees
by
jayman5
on 21/11/2024, 14:55:11 UTC
I`m trying to send a small amount of BitCoin via electrum wallet to my hardware wallet & i`m getting about 40% fee.

I then adjusted the fee paid bar left to the max & its lower but still high  saying - "the fee for this transaction seems unusually high 5.06%".

For comparison I transferred about $300 at the weekend from an exchange to hardware wallet and was charged less than $1.

Is this an electrum thing? is there anything else i can do?, as far as i know i only have one active address in my wallet

Thanks

Finally got access via electrum wallet using a seed i had on a flash drive  Smiley

However when trying to move funds to my new wallet I'm getting super high gas fees warning, if i remember correctly i think it said 40% or something crazy like that.

Is this normal is there anyway to reduce this

So according to Armory my address to receive BTC is 1SvoeQUWoEEgyiPmTmj8eXjWTWzfzXNtX.

Isnt by the name unused wallet mean there's nothing in there?

I did discover an electrum seed phrase that i wrote down 7 years ago that i typed in a new electrum download & again brought up 0 bal. I cant remember which brought up the wallet i gave earlier PrivBase58 address from armory or seed phrase that i entered into electrum & blue wallet.

Would a 2018 seed still work on a 2024 electrum download?

All i know is i didn't deliberately send it anywhere, its not a kings ransom but would be nice to access my $140 or whatever its gone up by in the last week.

Admittedly i didn't really know much about crypto back in 2018 so probably made a mess of things unfortunately.

Hi

I`m referring to the root key, i.e efkj abhr xxxx xxxx xxxx (chnged digits) .... 18 blocks of these 4 digits. This is what i had to regain access to my armory wallet.

I went into export keys on this to get the PrivBase58 address that i entered into electrum & blue wallet and im certain this is my old wallet showing this transfer that i never made

Not sure what happened did funds slip into another wallet address because i made an error, its not moved since 2018 so wasn't stolen,  is there anything i can do?

Bitcoin core could funds have moved to another wallet
by
jayman5
on 10/11/2024, 20:56:48 UTC
I found a 7 year old bitcoin wallet that i had on Bitcoin core, i put a small amount in there approx $40, now worth over £136.

I found the root key that i used to recover the wallet, i downloaded the whole blockchain that took several days only to see a 0 bal at the end.

I then extracted the BIP39 that i imported into electrum, again which showed 0 bal, but also showed movement of the funds not long after i setup the wallet.

The funds are still in this other wallet (link), so they were never stolen.

Just wondering how this could have happened assuming the funds were not stolen, could i have made a mistake at the time & not completely downloaded bitcoin core causing the funds to slip to another address?

Would i have had multiple wallet addresses in my bitcoin core address that i should be still able to access?

Risk of hardware wallets for alt coins & lost coins on recovery
by
jayman5
on 06/11/2024, 20:57:17 UTC
Looking at hardware wallets for alt coins, read in a few places various hardware wallets have lost holdings upon recovery.

Maybe its FUD maybe its real, but assuming its real & not wallet theft how could this happen if the holdings are on the relevant blockchain?

I mean if i had a tangem or SafePal wallet for example with multiple coins, Kaspa, Render, beam, cardano etc.. and i had to reset the app or recover via seed option (avail now on tangem) would i get exactly the same amount of each coin back? if not where would they go?

Its an issue with these app based cold wallets, sooner or later you`ll get on a plane, walk up a mountain or just out of an internet reception area or the app will just freeze & need re-setting after a while so can these things be trusted long term?

Best way to Buy Alt coins in the UK
by
jayman5
on 20/10/2024, 20:18:45 UTC
Our over zealous FCA regulator makes it difficult to buy most alt coins in the UK

Just about every exchange like Binance, KuCoin , ByBit etc has restrictions, directly or indirectly, i.e KuCoin appears to accept business but the app you need to complete KYC is not available in UK.

Its endless circles

Looks like i may need to go via a swap DEX site where ill loose a bit on fees unless there`s another simple option?

What’s the point of ERC-20 tokens
by
jayman5
on 15/10/2024, 12:12:11 UTC
I’m fairly new to crypto and many are promoting the various ERC-20 tokens out there

My question are they all using the same tech and if they are the same just different companies what new innovations do they bring?

Surely in this case people are just buying into the business plan of the company behind it, I.e Beam or Render and how they use this same tech?

Trezor wallet firmware update question
by
jayman5
on 12/10/2024, 20:42:21 UTC
Some people have problems updating the Trezor firmware which then messes things up.

The advice given is enter your seed phrase to recover your wallet.

Wouldn't this then make the device potentially compromised? the whole point of hardware wallets is the seed never travels across the internet, so once its entered for recovery that is no longer the case, would it then be best to replace the Trezor?

Thanks so far seems to have worked, however now got the screen on armory - please wait while the global trans history is scanned (showing offline).

The wheel is turning for what looks like forever

A quick google search seems to suggest i have to download the entire 16 years of bitcoin history from bitcoin core that may take hours/days??

I take it the only alternative is to sweep private keys to electrum?

Recover old 2018 armory wallet with just root key
by

Hi i found the root key for my old bitcoin armory wallet from 2018. I don`t have the address or the seed phrase. Can i still recover this?

Is a root key the same as seed phrase as the way it was copied looks similar but its just made up of 18 blocks of 4 random letters & numbers rather than the usual 12 word seed

Application Programming Interface question- Is this possible or BS
by
jayman5
on 24/04/2024, 19:54:35 UTC
I have a question about Application Programming Interface and whether this is possible.

I wont name the alt coin to prevent shills

I was looking at an Alt coin startup that claims it extracts data from another DEX like platform (of which it probably competes with so there is no co-operation between the two) in real time and can filter that data to allow users to make the best buys.

I`m not a programmer but I would assume this site would require a data feed from the 1st site to do this? (this source site is unique so not like a DOW market index)

Its like me saying I’m creating a website that filters vitamin pills on Amazon in real-time, but short of looking on the webpage & manually keying the info in how can I do this without a data feed from the source site?

I asked this question to them & they replied Application Programming Interface.

Is this possible or BS?
