How do we know that the clever hacker is not waiting for another go, with another trick? Lets wait a few weeks for the bug bounty to progress.

The rollback of the invalid transactions (that the hacker used) keeps the integrity for the protocol. The integrity of the protocol means a loss for the new XCP buyers on poloniex, who I could call the new community, assuming that were not involved in the initial burn.

The new community now have zero XCP & BTC, it reflects bad on XCP. We need to raise the XCP between us, rather than expecting Poloniex/busoni to gradually pay back the BTC. I am sure the new community would be happy with the XCP (keep those trades valid).

I look forward to the lottery to encourage donations.
All Poloniex earnings from XCP trading should so go into the donation pot.
Also Poloniex should put some of this own funds to the donation pot, due to the lack security behind the withdrawal, that allowed all BTC to be removed.

It’s in the burned XCP holders interests to donate.

I wouldn’t encourage the exchange to open for XCP again for a few weeks to give the bug bounty time.

whats the situation for the XCP buyers on the exchange who brought the dumped XCP. I understand that the XCP protocol wasn't involved in that transfer of XCP, that a private transfer via the exchange. The situation for them will ultimately be decided by poloniex? No changes to the XCP protocol have or could be made for those trades, as they are done outside XCP protocol on the exchange. Although those XCP buyers are unlikely to get their BTC back, I am sure they would be happy with the XCP (I guess this is what the XCP donations is for?), if so I will donate 30 XCP once I am able to transfer out from poloniex  .

I think I get the general idea behind counterparty and am keen to gather interest on creating a new asset to test the functionality of the assets and distribution of dividends.

I have a small mining rig that creates approx 0.008 BTC a day. The asset would give you the rights to share in the mining returns for the month of March.

The aim is to test the functionality of XCP and create a real life application.

1) Issue new asset at X price, total issue of Y shares. How is price determined, by a market or by the asset issuer?
2) Buyers purchase shares of the asset at X price, via the DEX.
3) Each day mining returns approx 0.008 btc, which will be re-distributed by XCP dividends. These are paid in XCP. Therefore I mine a coin, send to exchange and convert directly to XCP or BTC to then convert to XCP.
4) Pay XCP dividends via counterpartyd

End of March - end of test. You will have received Z amount of XCP in dividends and you have the shares of the new asset. After March the asset would be worthless. Is the asset tradeable on the DEX between issuance and end of March?
As its a test I will return the XCP at the issue price at expiry.

Should I walt until the client is available? Is what I describe possible with counterparty?
It will be interesting to see how the market reacts to demand from the requirement to purchase XCP to buy the new asset and via the dividends converted into XCP from BTC.

What happened in block 284193? Last night I sent XCP between accounts, following which the error occured.

I have now updated via git pull and it is now creating a new database. Did this affect everyone, or just me?

Status: RESTART
Status: Database and client minor version number mismatch (0 ≠ 7).
Status: Reparsing all transactions.
Status: Database minor version number updated.
Status: NEW DATABASE

At current prices (0.00000031btc), the 500,000 per 1 min block mining supply, needs each day 223.2 of BTC demand to match that supply, each and every day to at least maintain that price. Some motivated buyers will have to come into the market to bid up the price. Given that approx 20bn of the 100bn coins have been mined, and the decline in price, it makes sense for miner to sell any stock produced while difficulty was higher into the market as soon as possible. Mining difficulty is already reducing thus maintaining the profitability of the coin at these lower prices as for each Hash the payout in coins is approx double that a few weeks ago when difficulty was higher. If you buy coins you need to understand the supply side, and you will see that the features of this coin will ensure that it will go below 0.00000010. Try doing a scatter plot of the price of each script coin in btc vs the daily supply and you will find that you can determine coins that are over/under valued.

Ideas for the name could be based around the idea/concept for this coin. What does this coin offer? Is it a broad ecosystem of services around the coin, or does it have a niche. We don't know enough about the concept to offer a suggestion until more is known.

My thoughts are that anything with Coin at the end refers to an Alt coin . E.g. Nxt Coin have dropped the coin from its name and its now referred to as Nxt. Ripple is based upon a concept. Mastercoin - they have a problem with that name (Mastercard, and the Coin).

What does Visa represent? For many it may represent an expensive and slow method of payment, an old payment processing method which doesn't fit with this innovation.

We shouldn't have Coin in this name.

I like Quick (not Quick Coin) - but we don't know enough about this concept (Is the selling point it's quickness?)
Or Fresh
any other suggestions?
