RetroXRBWallet (https://github.com/jamescoxon/RetroXRBWallet) is a pathfinder design, to demonstrate and test some of the technology which will be used in the mobile/light wallet. It is purposefully retro to make it fast and efficient.

Currently works on Mac OS X and Linux, we are going to make some Windows binary soon.

For more discussion see #development on RaiBlocks Discord

Check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb8u9YyuBzk for a guide to setting up the wallet.

good project support $-XRB, i like xrb because zero fee and really very fast transaction better than other crypto

with xrb, you can buy a cup of coffee without having to pay a transaction fee and there is no need to wait for the long-confirmation just like bitcoin (which usually takes 20 minutes or more)  Grin
Where I can drink coffee for XRB? I have some coins. Smiley

I have some XRB coins too, and I want some coffee, but nowhere that accepts XRB
saying you can use XRB to pay/buy this and that without anyone actually accepting it for transaction
it is only just a saying... won't make people believe in it easily
make it real, prove XRB is better than other cryptos by real use in any transaction
currently I'm accepting XRB for prepaid airtime but only locally... it's small step but I tried
eventhough no sale yet since posted 2 weeks ago on my local board  Cry

If you want XRB to grow bigger and more valuable, you can start by accepting/using it
depending only the number acceptances of exchanges won't get XRB nowhere
no real use... no demands... no where to go (dies slowly) Undecided

I'm really keen to make more uses for RaiBlocks, perhaps a cup of coffee is the starting point. If people have ideas about how we could go about making this happen I would be onboard to support them, whether its through contacting an existing service (crypto/coffee) or developing a gift card reselling system or if someone wanted to develop a payment system for RaiBlocks - just get in touch.

RaiBlocks Newsletter 5th November 2017 (Issue: 6)

Welcome to the sixth issue of the RaiBlocks newsletter, its great to have made it to 6 issues, we continue to get great feedback regarding the newsletter

News

New Exchange (BitFlip)
The RaiBlocks Dev team are proud to announce that RaiBlocks is being listed on https://bitflip.li/ . BitFlip are a young but dynamic exchange with interesting pairs as well as being multilingual, they are keen to innovate and RaiBlocks fits them well. We are working closely with their technical team to integrate RaiBlocks and this addition will bring lots of new markets including the ability to trade RaiBlocks(XRB) with a number of fiat currencies.
The addition of bitflip is just the first exchange that the exchange team are working with to add RaiBlocks, we plan to stick to the published roadmap with another exchange in December. By working with exchanges we can build volume which in this competitive environment is key to moving up the chain!

Marketing and Branding
The Dev team have also been focusing in the last few weeks in developing partnerships to build up the brand and marketing of RaiBlocks. We are in the process of building a whole new website which will become the hub of the RaiBlocks information. We are also planning to commission some professionally produced videos to explain and promote RaiBlocks - these will be published on our youtube channel.

QR Codes
The Dev team have standardised the QR codes for RaiBlocks (https://github.com/clemahieu/raiblocks/wiki/URI-and-QR-Code-Standard) - these will be implemented into the various wallets and apps in development. QR codes are ideal for the long xrb addresses so we are really keen to get them fully integrated. (Also another thing to tick off the roadmap!)

Community Competitions
The community team has been hard at work promoting RaiBlocks on social media. Louis Nobleman (@Mrlutavo on twitter) hosted a very successful banner competition. The results were announced yesterday on twitter https://twitter.com/Mrlutavo/status/926979302268264448 .

User Interview (@sdoubrav on Discord)

1) How did you find out about RaiBlocks?
Was browsing 4chan /biz/ board back in like June or July and some guy who recently went to a crypto conference came back and made a post where listed the coins he liked. One of those was xrb and I've been holding ever since.

2) What do you use RaiBlocks for?
Honestly speculative bet that it will have mass adoption.

3) What sort of services do you think RaiBlocks would suit?
No economic expert but any frequent small transaction mainly

4) What is the coolest feature of RaiBlocks
No fees. I can live without instant transactions for the most part. But the fact that raiblocks is instant and feeless, it undercuts literally every payment processor on the market without the need for wasteful energy use like Bitcoin

Third Party Services

New Services Development Grant
We are keen to get people to use RaiBlocks and encourage people to create ways of actually using RaiBlocks in their everyday lives. To support this I have put aside funds to support two projects with a Development Grant - I will provide funding to pay for hosting for 3 months (on a digital ocean droplet (2CPU, 2GB Memory, 40GB SSD and 3TB Transfer)) for a project that is built around RaiBlocks. By providing the hosting this just leaves the programming/coding and development to you. I will consider any projects that will contribute to the RaiBlocks ecosystem - examples could be a game, online shop, online wallet, kickstarter/patreon system, fivr style job site paid in XRB. Please contact me directly on Discord (@jaycox), I will ask for details so it would be worth having a formulated plan in advance! Also to receive funds for each month of hosting will require evidence of progress!

Developer Profile (@harvw on Discord)

1) How did you find RaiBlocks?
I found out about Raiblocks in March 2017 when I started actively looking for an alternative cryptocurrency which I felt could genuinely solve the problems of high fees and scaling issues that Bitcoin was experiencing at the time. I also began watching Marc de Mesel's youtube channel and he was a major proponent of DAG (tangle) and given that he is a bit of a visionary in the space, this also encouraged me to take a bit of a deep dive in to analysing the tech further as well as Raiblocks more specifically.

2) What is your role currently?
I guess you could call me an Exchange Development Manager for Raiblocks at the moment as I'm coordinating a lot of the exchange negotiations for listings in conjunction with the core development team.

3) What have your learnt during this time
I've learned a lot about the importance of working collaboratively within a team to ensure that decisions are made which not only benefit the Raiblocks community but also the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem as a whole.

4) Whats next for RaiBlocks (personal prediction)
I strongly believe that Raiblocks has THE brightest future within the cryptosphere which is the reason why I am dedicating so much of my time to the project. As far as what's next, I would say that the visibility of the project will increase significantly over the next 6 months which will ultimately result in wider Raiblocks adoption and actual usage.

Hello dev,

Is this RXB mineable now with CPU and GPU? I saw pictures in twitter setting up GPUs Cards to mine XRB,

Any imformation about it?

Thanks and regards,

Okane Satoshi
RaiBlocks is not mineable, all XRB were distributed via faucet + 7M XRB to development fund. If you are huge service & want 4+ TPS, you can accelerate transactions with GPU (any TX require small PoW to prevent network spam).

There was a tweet from the @raiblocks account about how XRB didn't require as much energy and linked to an article, wonder whether thats where the picture came from. The point was that XRB isn't mineable!

So, XCM are a snapshot of XRB block-chain?

To be honest I'm not sure, the details haven't been released - I don't think you can snapshot RaiBlocks as it isnt a single blockchain like bitcoin. Instead I suspect they'll have to start a new Genesis address and then the network will build from there. If that its how it will be then you won't get the same amount of XCM as you have XRB.

Best ask them directly on their telegram channel

RaiBlocks Newsletter 23rd October 2017 (Issue: 5)

Welcome to the fifth issue of the RaiBlocks newsletter, apologies for the delay in releasing this newsletter, I’ve been caught up in a lot of RaiBlock related projects!

News
Closure of the Faucet
After lots of debate both internally and externally it was finally decided that the faucet would be closed. The cryptocurrency RaiBlocks has been swamped by the faucet distracting everyone from its main strength and selling point - the awesome tech behind the currency. The distribution has now officially has been completed with 7 Million XRB being kept for future development. The focus now developing the technology behind RaiBlocks and creating everyday uses.

Burning of Remaining Supply
As only 39% of the total planned supply is now circulating the remaining 60.8% is in the process of being burned, the Genesis account transferred 205,676,485XRB to xrb_1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111hifc8npp, both Landing and Faucet will also be transferred there to be burnt.
To see a video of the transfer checkout our youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwR-CXNafLs
We have been running a competition for the best mashup, (best 5 mashup videos chosen by the Dev team will receive 500XRB) - for more info check out the twitter thread: https://twitter.com/raiblocks/status/921519522183462913

Community (XCM) - clone of RaiBlocks
With the closure of the RaiBlocks Faucet the 2 developers who had been running the faucet have left the dev team to clone RaiBlocks and continue a faucet based distribution. They have started their own social media channels and will announce soon their plans in full. This new cryptocurrency will be different to RaiBlocks though is likely to use its technology and we wish them the best in their plans and endeavours.

Switching from Slack to Discord
The team have had to switch from Slack to Discord for community chat, for the last few weeks it has been a challenge to manage users on Slack as its not designed for large communities, also there were the constant spam attacks which couldn’t be stopped and then finally Slack closed down our invite system.
Discord is much better suited to a community like ours and we invite people to join us - https://discordapp.com/invite/73Qmn4m

RaiBlocks Road Map
With all these changes a new road map is being worked on and will be released in then next 48hrs, this will provide some guidance about where RaiBlocks is aiming to go over the next few months. For more information head over to #roadmap on the discord channel

Behind the Scenes
While it might appear that there is a very small team behind RaiBlocks actually there are a number of teams working on different aspects of the cryptocurrency including the community team which contains the Community Managers and also key players on social media. There is also an exchange team put together of developers and users who are in the process of approaching an negotiating with exchanges for listings.

Third Party Services

YapRai Wallet
YapRai Wallet was developed to provide users with an xrb address instead of waiting for their desktop wallet to sync (pre version 8.0), it was only meant to be a side project and grew to have over 10000 accounts. Due to increasing commitment in the RaiBlocks Dev team I can’t guarantee its security and so have decided to close it down. All accounts with balances have been emailed with details on how to withdraw your XRB to a new address. Options include the desktop wallet (Recommended), RaiWalletBot on Telegram and RaiWallet.com

Twitter
@xrb_giveaway and @tip_xrb are both back online after a period of downtime. @xrb_giveaway allows you to reward retweeters with XRB while @tip_xrb allows you to tip other users with XRB. Unlike other cryptocurrencies who aren’t quick enough to make real time transactions both bots actually make transactions taking advantage of the speed of XRB.

New Services
If you have an idea for a web service using XRB or a pre-existing service you’d like help adding XRB to then get in touch either on here or via social media (e.g. on the RaiBlocs Discord).

Next Newsletter
Still keen for submissions, reviews and news, happy to donate xrb for your time. I hope to publish the newsletter more often, stick to the every 2 weeks for now.

For the last few days I've been working on the @xrb_giveaway (https://twitter.com/xrb_giveaway) system on twitter and thought it would be helpful to describe my progress and how it might work...

Due to the zero fees and near instant transaction time RaiBlocks is ideal for microtransactions and twitter is a great platform for these to be used on. It would be awesome if you could use XRB to reward people for interactions such as retweets, this could be on a personal level but also could be scaled up to a commercial level.

@xrb_giveaway is a twitter bot connected to a raiblocks node which can monitor a particular tweet (via its twitter id) and reward twitter users that retweet this tweet with XRB. The bot regularly checks for retweets of that tweet, any new retweets and it checks the 'retweeter' profile for an xrb address (this is the box on the left handside of twitter). If this is present then the raiblocks node sends a small (pre defined) reward to that address.
To start with xrb_giveaway only tracked and rewarded its own tweets, one of the tweets (https://twitter.com/xrb_giveaway/status/909171061324959744) has managed 20,000 impressions!

I have now developed this further and it is possible to get @xrb_giveaway to track your own tweets, through the bot you can register and it will give you a xrb deposit address, you can load this with XRB and then setup the bot to track a tweet, each retweet of this tweet if the user has an xrb address in their profile will get a pre set reward up until you reach the defined maximum retweets or 48hrs expires. To allow users to know that this is a 'rewardable' tweet I suggest that you would start the tweet with RT20:0.5XRB suggesting that for the first 20 retweets you'll reward 0.5XRB.

The system is in 'beta' right now and it would be great to test it out, if you are a regular on twitter and want to try it out on your own tweets then please get in touch (DM @xrb_giveaway) - I'm not sure it is ready for the mainsteam yet, only as things always benefit from a bit of testing. I'd be happy for feedback and comments on here.

ohhh is this legit?

It is legit but the bot seems to "incorrectly" reward users whp retweeted later than 50. I have been rewarded once in the RT20:.5XRB but not in the RT50:.5XRB. Note that the tweets are not posted on the same date.

Well its on beta, can't blame it.

Thanks for the feedback - the bot only rewards retweets that it can, so if people don't have xrb addresses in their profile then it won't (but obviously there will be a retweet counted on twitter). Therefore you can be rewarded even after the max retweets visible on twitter has been reached.
When testing I watch the stream of retweets, due to the design there is only a limited amount of xrb to distribute each time so once thats reached it can't issue any more.

I'll obviously continue working on it...

Agreed with BitcoinDad with what he said regarding RaiBlocks on shitcointalk. let me paraphrase:

He's not happy (neither are investors) with the way RaiBlocks is being handled. Too much dev time spent on faucet and supporting this captcha distribution and not on the tech.

Proposal:

- Turn off captcha/faucets for XRB indefinitely
- Burn the rest of the supply
- Focus on getting XRB the liquidity it needs (and making investors happy) by applying to exchanges now rather than later
- Work on the development of the coin itself, not the irrelevant faucets.

Distribution is already at a good place. Imagine if all the dev time that was spent on faucets and reworking the captcha claims was instead spent on improving the tech of RaiBlocks - we could easily be a top 100 or more coin. Burn the remaining supply, talk to exchanges now (instead of later) and focus efforts on development.

Its probably worth me answering a few of these concerns. You'll be all glad to know that the last month has been really productive, while the faucet has been an issue this is only run by two of the developers. The rest of the developers are working on exactly the elements that people are asking about. A team has been put together and has been for the last 2 weeks contacting exchanges though we can not discuss this further at the request of the various exchanges we are making contact with.
There has also been progress with developing a light wallet and also adding a twitter retweet reward system (where you can setup a bot to reward retweeters with instant XRB) - the Dev team recognise that for true value there needs to be uses...
Finally we have hired 4 community managers to help and support the community - its time to step up the game now, to move up from being an amateur coin to something more serious.

Hope that helps

Advertisement - RaiBlocks Community Managers

The Development team are looking for 4 community managers who will help support the RaiBlocks community on a number of platforms. The role will include helping new and old members with general and technical questions, moderating the various channels especially for off topic conversation and spam as well as if needed stopping online abuse and will have the power to ban users. The team would work together coordinated from their own slack channel and would liaise directly with the development team, the aim would be to take the pressure of the development team to allow them to actually do some developing!
We are looking for users passionate about RaiBlocks with practical experience of using the currency, ideally we want to have a wide range of languages between them to target the key demographics. We would be aiming, between them, to be on slack, telegram, twitter, Facebook (managing an official page) and bitcointalk. We do not expect this to be a full time job but ideally it would be great if the whole 24hr period could be covered (but not vital).

We recognise that there are users who already perform this role and they are welcome to apply, previous support of the raiblocks community will certainly be taking into account in the selection process.

The programme would be a trial of 4 weeks, each team member would get a reward of 500xrb a week for being involved, the funds coming from the Dev donation fund. The Dev team reserve the right not to send the reward if there is no evidence of a manager actually helping the community. At the end of the 4 week trial we will review how successful it has been and if it has been then will continue it in some form.

The deadline for applications is Saturday 16th September 2017 at Midnight UTC, we will then review the applications and will contact the applicants with the results. To apply please complete the application form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfQqq-W1F4Shof1QzUSawcHK1mvmBL5W8CyXz2sIFumAGszqA/viewform?usp=sf_link

Any questions regarding the role send to @jaycox on slack or @jayycox on telegram

ANNOUNCEMENT

The RaiBlocks Dev team are pleased to announce the appointment of 5 Community Managers:

Flomes
Kedrin
gotowerdown
Luis Hidalgo
ISAAMM

The team has been selected as they cover a large group of RaiBlocks Users, have experience in the community and provided great answers to the application questions. They plan to be involved in nearly all forums and on social media with the aim to help people with their issues and moderate the forums allowing the dev team to actually dev. As described this will be a trial for 4 weeks and then we will review how effective it has been.

There were a total of 54 applicants with an enormous variety of answers and we are really grateful for their applications, we'll keep the application list as there maybe future roles that the applicants could suite.

Thanks

The RaiBlocks Dev Team

RaiBlocks Newsletter 11th September 2017 (Issue: 4)

Welcome to the fourth issue of the RaiBlocks newsletter, apologies for the delay in releasing this newsletter, I’ve been caught up in a lot of RaiBlock related projects!

Core Wallet/Node Development
After a lot of work Version 8.0 was released on 26th August 2017, it included significant improvements in syncing especially from zero as well as reduced IO load. It is recommended that users upgrade to this version, more information can be found here https://github.com/clemahieu/raiblocks/releases/tag/V8.0
Since the release there has been 4 further commits and development will continue.

RaiBlocks Road Map
After a bit of work the Dev team have put together a road map showing our plans for the next few months. https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/e/2PACX-1vTFdRMiusLr7K7OfpaoyUBPyFuFTwGeKZ-uBz_70h4tHhaa7v5joUcHv6-N1qYMJAwbZG-34ko338sU/pub?w=960&h=720

Third Party Services
YapRai Shop
RaiBlocks has its first webshop, built as a demonstration but also functioning with real products you can check our the YapRai Webshop (https://shop.yapraiwallet.space). Current products are vinyl laptop stickers and all transactions are in XRB, we’ll ship anywhere in the world!

@xrb_giveaway
As demonstration of possible uses we have put together a example about how RaiBlocks could be used as a microtransaction system on twitter. In @xrb_giveaway if you have your xrb address in your profile and retweet a tweet you’ll get a small reward. To know whether there is a reward look for RT10:1XRB, this means that the first 10 retweets will get 1XRB.

User Interview
Luis Hidalgo (on Telegram)
1. How did you find out about RaiBlocks
I found about raiblocks thanks to a friend who gave me an account to test the faucet. Then I started to learn on my own

2. Where do you think RaiBlocks will be in the next 6 months
I believe raiblocks will reach a lot of people around the world, thanks to the greatness of the xrb and the faucet itself. It is easy to claim and it is fair for everyone. Hope that all the systems (wallets, faucet, coin, exchange) get to bigger services, such as bittrex and more...

3. What do you use RaiBlocks for?
I use raiblocks for the reward in xrb. With it I have learned how to trade in different currencies and read the growing market. If it wasn't for raiblocks, I wouldn't be able to see the potential of the cryptocurrency. I have been months using it and it has been a fulfilling experience

4. What is the coolest feature of RaiBlocks
The coolest feature about raiblocks its his diversity of wallets. You can use the official or third-party such as yaprai or telegrambot with no problems at all. The faucet it self it's the main feature, but it still has a lot to improve to become perfect

Technical Analysis of a Feature
What are representatives?
To keep the network healthy there is a system of voting and consensus, if you left your wallet online all the time then your wallet helps contribute to this. A representative is an account that you chose who can vote on your behalf but cannot spend your balance.  This way you can keep your wallet offline and your balance can still be used for consensus. Voting and Consensus is key for the network to overcome forks (however due to the wallet and protocol design these are near non-existent). The more representatives on the network the better so if you are running a node/wallet 24hrs a day then this would be a great thing to do.

Announcement

The RaiBlocks Team are pleased to announce the release of RaiBlocks Wallet 8.0 for Windows 64bit, Mac OS X and Linux. This is a major upgrade with significant improvements in the speed and reliability of wallet syncing. Other changes include the addition of new RPC as well as upgrading of the included submodules. It is recommended that RaiBlocks users upgrade their desktop/pc wallets to this latest version. The team recognise that the GUI has not been upgraded - it was felt that backend reliability was more important to improve.
At this point 32bit systems are not supported due to the block lattice file system exceeding 32bit OS limitations - it is advised to either upgrade your OS or use an online wallet.

To download please go to https://github.com/clemahieu/raiblocks/releases/tag/V8.0

While the wallet has been tested extensively for further feedback please go to #new_wallet on the RaiBlocks slack channel.

Some Changes:

  • Reorganized the bootstrap code to be more readable and also fixed a number of edge cases where it would start from the beginning
  • Votes coming off the network no longer cause an IO write every time greatly reducing running IO
  • Blocks are processed in a single queue greatly reducing bootstrap disk IO
  • Fixed issue where network requests would wait for IO to complete lowering throughput
  • Fixed issue where log rotation size couldn't be changed
  • Fixed an issue where the database resizing could cause a crash
  • Tracking and displaying peer version number in GUI and RPCs
  • Fixed a number of issues found with clang sanitizers

If you have already downloaded the OS X or Windows 64bit wallets then please downloaded them again, there was a missing commit in the binaries which has now been pushed. You'll find the wallet boots much faster...

Announcement

We've had to stop the faucet payment system, the faucet will go into full maintenance very soon. We appreciate that the system has degraded recently and a key team member has been away - its got to a point where we can't keep it going so it has been decided to pause it for at least 1 week so that we can adjust the system to be more robust. Please remember that the faucet is a massive project, serving millions of captcha's an hour, at one point we calculated that it was 10% of google recaptcha's traffic (in the old days).

As the faucet hasn't gone into maintenance yet @clemahieu will run the payout script once it does to allow the backlog to be paid and then it will pause.

More importantly for the RaiBlocks ecosystem/economy there has been loads of work on improving the wallet - this is vital for success and actually we hope will help the faucet, a more reliable wallet means that people can collect their own xrb rather then rely on online service (the dreaded pools). As has been reported in the newsletter the wallet has made lots of progress, its being extensively tested and will be here soon. While the faucet is in maintenance some of the focus is going to be on getting this release out.

Thanks

RaiBlocks Team

RaiBlocks Newsletter 20th August 2017 (Issue: 3)

Welcome to the third issue of the RaiBlocks Newsletter which is published every 2 weeks and aims to summarise developments in the RaiBlocks cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Core Wallet/Node Development
There has been ongoing work on the wallet/node, there have been 24 new commits on GitHub - nearly all this work has been on improving syncing, the rest of the team have been testing the latest wallets on major services including RaiWalletBot and YapRai. Its important that the wallet/node is fully tested before releasing, it’ll be worth the wait! Check out #development on slack for pre-release builds if you want to help test. https://github.com/clemahieu/raiblocks/commits/master

Third Party Services
Visualising the RaiBlocks Network
Check out a method of visualising the RaiBlocks network, based on a node with callback for every block and a grafana/influxdb setup you can see how transactions and addresses have changed over periods of time. There are plans for more methods of seeing the network in real time
http://data.yapraiwallet.space:3000/dashboard/db/xrb-live-data

Yaprai - has now reached 5600 users and the team are currently working on translations of the site as well as a redesign.

Review of https://raiwallet.com by @abidonank (we are going to make this a regular feature)
‘As long as I have used raiwallet.com there has been no issues in sending and receiving XRB, it's quite responsive, good looking and tidy, one thing that I love from this wallet is we hold the private key......so it makes me feel safe and comfortable using it, being able to download the wallet data is quite good and innovative as the alternative security, one thing that bother me is changing alias at setting menu, it's not available as stated on welcome page when we create the account, my rating is 85/100’

Raiwallet.com
To test out the security of this innovative new web wallet its developer @jamiehgb has issued a challenge to test the wallet strength and security. He has created a wallet containing a prize bounty of 2000xrb and has released all the details except the password - if you want to try and crack it see here: https://github.com/jaimehgb/RaiWebWallet#bounty

How to develop a RaiBlocks Service
Whether you have an existing web service or starting from scratch its easy to integrate RaiBlocks, if you need a lot of accounts or will be doing a lot of transactions then you should run your own node, just a matter of compiling the node, syncing (now quick with the latest git commits) and then communicating with the wallet using the RPC. If you only need a few accounts (i.e. you use a single deposit account) you could use the yaprai wallet web api which has POST commands etc - for more information go to #yaprai_api on slack and for general development go to #development on slack.

User Interview
Mafdet (@mafdet on slack and @mmafdet on twitter)

1)How did you find out about RaiBlocks?
I found out about the project around a year ago - been buying and holding ever since - my holdings went x10 over the course of the year and yet to bat an eyelid, RaiBlocks mid term potential is x100 at a minimum, people will sell and buy in between, but the trend will stay intact long term - the price will push upward until we are on par with similar tech competitors (IOTA). Myself, i am by no means an amateur trader, over the last 10 years I've managed 10mm+ stock portfolio for a private investors firm based in New York, i plan to introduce RaiBlocks once the infrastructure is in place.

2)What makes you enthusiastic about RaiBlocks?
Enthusiastic about RaiBlocks? the fact that we are Gen3.0 cryptocurrency - the possibilities are endless with instant and free transactions - in the not too distant future i believe fee-less blockchains will thrive - think of it this way, you have car A that costs $50,000 and $50 a week to keep running per week, and takes 1hr to get to work due to its low speeds. Then you have car B which also costs $50,000 but $0 per week to keep it running, and only takes 10mins to get to work now. Whats going to happen? car A is going to get phased out, quite fast. These block lattice/Tangle type blockchains will be the new foundation - and with RaiBlocks having a minuscule marketcap - its going to make a lot of millionaires and be the foundations for a lot of payment gateways and processors.

3)How can a user help the project?
Show support - help others - build the community.

4)Where does RaiBlocks go next?
A larger exchange, which is in the works

Twitter
There is a growing RaiBlocks community on twitter, following the tag $XRB (https://twitter.com/search?q=%24XRB&src=ctag), many of these are investors in the coin, there is a lot of good info being published (and equally bad info) - it might be another place to get your updates as well as Slack, Telegram and bitcointalk.

Dev Profile
Me! @JayCox on slack and @jayycox on telegram

1) What Projects Do You Work On?
I run the RaiBlockstradebot on telegram, YapRai wallet, XRB Jump and Run Game, data.yapraiwallet.space, also I edit the RaiBlocks Newsletter

2) How have you used RaiBlocks?
I mainly use it for projects, its really easy to interact with the wallet node, my main language is python and just a simple function and the pycurl library and the node is integrate. Always happy to help people integrate a node into their service - just get in touch.

3) When did you get involved with RaiBlocks?
About 1 year ago, it was suggested as an interesting cryptocurrency on https://www.reddit.com/r/nyancoins/ and so got involved then, impressed with its speed and unique code base.

4) Whats your next project?
I’m working on a number of projects right now, planning a 3d network explorer using D3.js (data.yapraiwallet.space is the beginning of this) as well as a number of translations of the YapRai wallet. More longer term I’m thinking about how to integrate RaiBlocks into merchant services - would be cool to actually be able to spend your xrb! Watch this space.

Technical Analysis of a Feature
What is the wallet seed?
A wallet seed gives you access to your wallet (and accounts in the wallet) and can be used to rebuild your wallet if there is data loss (e.g. your computer dies). It is a string of upper case letters and numbers. It is VITAL that you backup your wallet seed and keep it safe (suggestions are writing it down and storing it in a safe location), do not leave it in a file unencrypted. If someone got hold of your wallet seed then they could gain access to all your xrb funds. If you use online wallets such as YapRai or RaiWalletBot then you don’t have access to your seed (as this would give you access to all the accounts! - the seed is kept very safe), the new raiwallet.com does give you access (all online wallets have the pros and cons).
Without the seed its impossible to rebuild your wallet and so its best you back it up straight after you create a wallet. For a guide on how to do this check out the RaiBlocks wiki: https://github.com/clemahieu/RaiBlocks/wiki/Wallet-Backups

Next Newsletter
Still keen for submissions, reviews and news, happy to donate xrb for your time. Next newsletter will be in 2 weeks time.

Hey all, if you are running mac you can try http://stats.yapraiwallet.space/games/rai-7.9.1-Darwin.dmg

Please backup your seed and note that the version numbers haven't been updated yet . This is the mac version of the latest commits for the wallet from 17/08/17. It should sync reliably, there has been a small trade off of speed but you shouldnt get syncs of 3 days, more like a few hours in total. I'd be particularly interested in anyone starting from 0.

Be careful, this is not an official release, by using it you accept that it is an experiment!

I'll continue to update it when their are new commits, feedback can be here or DM on slack. I dont have a windows build environment so dont bother asking for a windows build, you'll just have to wait for the official release.

Previously, I linked a "tutorial video" in a reply. That video claims to teach the usage of the official wallet. DO NOT FOLLOW THAT VIDEO.

The steps in that video are incorrect and can cause your XRB to be stolen. That video does not tell you to backup your original seed first before updating the data file used for synchronization. So if you are a firstimer and follow that video, you will be sharing the same wallet/account with someone. And that "someone" can steal your XRB.

I lost 1,698 XRB today because of that video. And I guess that was also the cause of my number of captcha claims increased abnormally because I probably shared the same wallet/account with "someone".

Sorry to hear that happened to you, thank you for making everyone aware for the future. With the recent git commits to improve sync this hopefully you won't need the special hacks to speed up syncing.

I've just built a Mac OSX binary of the latests master for the wallet if anyone wants to try it - get in touch

It is not every user who knows that third party wallets are managed by the developers themselves.
It would be interesting if such information were more accessible to new users. This would inhibit these attempts of scam.

While the current 3rd party wallets are run by people involved with development of RaiBlocks hopefully more people are going to make more services including online wallets. To get your wallet on https://raiblockscommunity.net/ homepage you need to provide that its safe - this is where we should direct users.

If you want to or are developing a new service using RaiBlocks its a good idea to go to #development on the RaiBlocks slack and introduce your services as thats going to speed up its validation/recognition etc.

As with all cryptocurrency you should always be cautious...
