Re: [ANN][DGC] DigitalCoin | Secure. Established. Active Development | Only 9% Mined
by

The question is, do people outside DGC communing know what is comming?

Honestly, I think this is the biggest issue the DigitalCoin community has.

DGC has some of the strongest fundamentals of any alt-coin out there: An extremely active developer, a smart economy/inflation rate, fast transaction times, an extremely fair start with no-instamine or premine, a very active community of die-hard supporters, a USD exchange with an integrated payment gateway that's about to start, very strong third party developer support (ex. the mywl.lt online wallet, the Dub lightweight client, CoinMart, etc), among other things.

The only thing this community needs to improve on is PR/marketing. I think if we can manage to improve on that DGC has a real shot at becoming a top-tier crypto-currency alongside LTC, BTC, & PPC.

Re: [ANN] Dub - A Lightweight Client for Digitalcoin

ShimalH really did some incredible work with this client. From both a design and functionality perspective it blows every other alt-coin client I've seen out of the water. The DGC blockchain loads in a fraction of the time of the "full" client, and I really like the ability to load multiple wallet.dat's into the client. Without a doubt this will be my primary DGC client from here on out.

Thanks for all your hard work, this is truly a game-changer for DGC!

Please tell me you did notice that the network hash dropped from 5.9 mhash during hour 1, to .48 mhash hour 2.

I was there the minute DGC got launched, and there was no premine. There can be several reasons why the network hashrate dropped for an hour, if my memory serves me right i was getting a lot of orphan blocks during hour 2, because the blocks i found during hour 2 were still the same blocks as found during hour 1. The block generation got overrun in hour 1, because a LOT of people were mining it, and we paid for it in hour 2. After that, everything went back to normal.

There is no premine, now shush Smiley

lol, do you have the minimum knowledge of how the p2p coin works? If it has a lot of orphans because a lot people joined mining, you don't see the block rate drop, instead you will see block rate increase because of instamining and you will see the hashrate increase big time. You actually see this after hour 3. Have you ever heard a lot hashpower joined and the block rate actual declined? Go check the 96 hour curves for all other coins and find me one which behaved like this:
http://cryptometer.org

Are you in your dream? What a joke, when people make up things.

The facts are shown in the 96 hour charts:
http://cryptometer.org/digitalcoin_96_hour_charts.html

and I put some comments for those innocent children to understand in the below diagram. BTW, more people here defending DGC does not change the facts. Facts are facts, it's simple.

I really didn't want to hijack Hazard's thread over all of this, but seriously, check out the blockchain yourself. I'll even link the relevant info for you.

Here is a link to "digitalcoin 1," from the block explorer. It has a value of 2 DGC, and was the first mined DGC block. Note its time stamp of 09:57:27 AM(UTC).
http://dgc.cryptocoinexplorer.com/block/45b2559dbe5e5772498e4170f3f1561448179fa90dd349e60e891766878dea2e

Now, here is the post that launched DGC. Note the time stamp of 09:55:53 AM (UTC), a full minute an a half prior to "digitalcoin 1" being mined.

Look for yourself, not through the lens of someone else's crawler. Of course, I've told and shown you all of this before, so I get the feeling you may know it to be true and just have a vested interest in spreading FUD.

Re: What happened to LTC's Payment Processor?
by

Designing and implementing a payment processor is no small task. There's a tremendous amount of work that goes into making absolutely sure that everything is secure and safe to use for the end-user.

That being said, CryptoAve is currently in development and will provide payment processing for LTC (along with BTC, DGC, SRC and ARG). It's still several weeks away from launch, though.

Yes... just like cryptsy.

Only with a completely different interface, trading engine, USD deposit and withdrawal, and an integrated payment gateway.

when and where will you be able to buy shares of CryptoAve?

great job Grin

Unfortunately, the initial auction for CryptoAve shares just ended today (Here). However, from what I understand shares will be openly traded on CryptoAve itself once it launches.

Only a few votes above XPM.
Irinocally, Litecoin is one of the least innovative all coins out there.  It only popular since it was one of the earliest altcoins to have a fair launch.
most altcoins are scrypt clones.
I'd say its pretty innovative.

Tenebrix was the first coin to use the scrypt algorithm, not litecoin.

is it suppose to be harder that Bitcoin's wallet to get synced ?
i'm having a  hellish time trying to get anywhere with the wallet and i've tried tons of stuff..

i would have said screw it but i have been running a miner on p2pool and i want my coins
so far i have gotten none an they are showing on the p2pool graph.

tried the conf that came with it with and with out the extras leaving only addnodes
tried only using 1 node as mentioned on page 1.. tried no conf..
all the while re-deleting everything but wallet.dat after trying different things.

all i ever get is part way then it pretty well just slows to a crawl or doesn't move at all
and i have no security, router or firewall issues either
i have a massive gigantic folder of wallets and have run into issues with tons of them
and always managed to get it going and carry on.. this is THE one that is stone walling me hard.

so much pissing around this sucks some serious ass Sad
wish i could figure out what the hell is going on.. even did chkdsk on windows.

i'd appreciate any ideas if ya people have any.

Have you tried forwarding port 7999 on your router?

Did you try doing a -rescan ? This will rescan the block chain to find any missing transactions.

Create and/or 2nd mouse button click on the digitalcoin shortcut on your desktop. Select > Properties.

In the 'Target' field add --rescan: "C:\Program Files (x86)\digitalcoin\digitalcoin-qt.exe" --rescan

Click on Apply and OK. Now re-start digitalcoin via this shortcut.

Re: Poll: Pick your favorite Alt-Coin!
by

It seems like the big four are currently (in order of votes):
1 Litecoin
2 Primecoin
3 Digicoin
4 Novacoin

Then there are those deserving of honorable mention (in order of votes):
5 Cosmoscoin
6 YACoin
7 Goldcoin
8 PPCoin
9 Feathercoin
10 Quarkcoin &  Namecoin (tied)

I am surprised by these results so far.  First, I never even heard of Digicoin before this vote and it #3 on the list!  I'll need to look into it.  Also, Primecoin is really close to Litecoin in terms of popularity being a relatively new coin.  It also has a lot of threads for it in this forum (I myself was getting confused and made an aggregate thread for the coin at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=264115.0

Other new coins that are surprisingly high on the list are Cosmocoin, Goldcoin and Quarkcoin.

We didn't buy our votes.. unlike certain coins that shall remain unnamed for the moment.

I get the feeling this is aimed at DGC. Normally I just try to ignore FUD, but for whatever reason I really just don't feel like letting this slide today.

A few things:
  • DGC has the 10th largest market cap (coin price x number of coins in circulation) of any cryptocurrency, and the second largest market cap of any coin released in the last three months. By the way, it's about 5 times that of goldcoin's. Additionally, it has consistently been in the top handful of coins on cryptsy in terms of trade volume in BTC/day every day for at least the last month.
  • DGC has an extremely active community, with one of the most active IRC channels, behind only #bitcoin and #litecoin (btw, join us at #digitalcoin on irc.freenode.net---webchat link is in my signature), as well as the longest announcement thread of any alt-coin in recent memory.
  • DGC has a currently ongoing fundraiser where over 75,000 DGC (~2000 USD) has been raised to assist with development costs from over 30 unique users. This is particularly significant as DGC was one of the fairest coin launches in recent memory with no "premine" or "instamine", and no users were able to amass huge amounts of DGC for free by being an "ultra-early-adopter". All of those donations were hard-earned or bought by the dgc community and given to the development team because they believe so strongly in DGC's future.
  • DGC has one of the most active development teams of any altcoin. Currently in development are a fiat exchange/payment gateway as well as a "bank" which will issue DGC options. The DGC (and ARG) exchange is slated to be released within the few weeks, and the bank following shortly after.
  • The most recent DGC "pump and dump" was anything but. Rather, a number of users in various exchange trollboxes sought to perpetuate a rumor that btc-e was adding DGC when they removed CNC, and this rumor caught on. This led to panic buying and then a resulting market correction back down to DGC's long term support level of ~.0003 dgc/btc. Since reaching this level, dgc has shown no indication that it is going to break it. By the way, no one involved with the development of DGC had anything do do with these rumors and did not even acknowledge them when they were ongoing

Basically, what I'm saying is, you've suggested that there's no reason anyone would think DGC is an up-and-coming cryptocurrency enough to vote for it in this meaningless poll unless they were paid to do so. This could not be farther from the truth. Shit, we (as a community) haven't even actively been promoting this poll other than a couple folks in IRC mentioning it a time or two and one post in the digitalcoin "ANN" thread. Your statements illustrate a clear ignorance of reality and an unwillingness to research your claims before you make them.

Oh, and lol at your logic that "because GLD is going up now, it will never stop going up!" I suppose the name "goldcoin" is fitting in this regard.

List corrected and updated.  Let me know if there are any more discrepancies.  Thanks.

My total should be an even 4000 because of an IRC donation of 8.72754919 I had sent in prior. The second donation of 3991.27245081 was just to even it out to a nice round number  Tongue

Sent via IRC a while ago but was bundled in with other donations:

[7:23pm] Transaction successful. Sent 8.72754919DGC to DGC Developer Fund. Tx fee paid: 0.1 || Details: http://dgc.webboise.com/tx/df418028d86bbf6012c4f7d3ca58a014a4a6958dc97a9b947ed3ca779017c3e5

Since the IRC donations are pooled before being sent to the dev. fund, his is not going to show up as its own transaction to the dev fund wallet. His donation was sent in the same 676.6 dgc batch that my 500 DGC irc donation was sent with (789ab695bf302213a51ee52eb15a7050777f943ef6e8dec4cf8fc05a87f7a997).

I just checked my IRC logs, and I have a record of d2 sending this, if that means anything:
Quote
Jul 25 18:23:26    !wallet donate balance
Jul 25 18:23:48    lol anyone been to Vircurex with Chrome lately?
Jul 25 18:23:51    Payment of 8.72754919DGC sent from d2 to DGC Developer Fund.

Here is the tx where he sent it to the dev. fund holding wallet (which was then pooled with other donations and sent to the dev. fund): http://dgc.webboise.com/tx/df418028d86bbf6012c4f7d3ca58a014a4a6958dc97a9b947ed3ca779017c3e5
