Safest cold storage options currently
by
jd218

I currently have some bitcoin on a ledger nano S, but I find myself increasingly worried about the company just exit scamming (not for any particular reason besides central point of failure). This made me consider other cold storage options, and I'm currently considering a 2-of-3 multi-sig wallet using Electrum. Is there any similar risk doing this with Electrum, or is that mitigated since it is open source? I ordered a Trezor and ColdCard to tinker with, so I'm also considering the basic idea of splitting up funds amongst all hardware wallets, but that feels like it's I'm just increasing my exposure. Losing any satoshis will be painful, irregardless of portion.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Undoubtedly Chainlink (LINK).

-Incredibly pragmatic use case
-Working product (check their website)
-Great ICO (capped to prevent mega whales)
-Whitepaper reviewed at Cornell (it actually has citations!)
-Potential partnerships in the works (a bit of rumors/speculation here)
-Under the radar because they are preparing to present a proof of concept Oct 16th

55% of my portfolio at this point in time.

When Binance? Dose it seem to be delayed? I really hope to see Sonm listed on Binance within this month.

Theres a SONM employee post on reddit stating that listing requires both parties to work to accomplish it. They implied that it's just taking them (SONM + Binance) a little longer than expected. I bet first week of October is likely

Re: Crypto market Dull - Are we waiting for Sep30

What is the good thing from waiting 30 september ? China has ban ICO. The will shut down exchange but exchanger based in china will be moved to other country. Btcc and okcoin has declared it in their twitter. Also this crypto not made for china. It is made for all people all over the world.
September 30 is still approaching and the issue of close exchanges isnt over yet and would definitely happen on the end of the month.Theres no word yet on what exchanges would be closed next but we should not close our eyes on the possible opportunities on dipping prices on those days.Just like what happened on august 1 event it did dip the price and later on it did pumped up.

Just because exchanges are closing doesn't necessarily mean BTC price decrease. Fundamentally, the exchanges closing hurts the bitcoin network with the decreased volume from China, but we can see that China's volume has already diminished mostly:  https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/volume/24-hour/. Everyone is aware of this event coming, so the approaching of the date doesn't matter.

To me, this is now an opportunity because I suspect China will "re-enter" the cryptosphere in some manner in the future. I'll buy a little NEO/GAS and return to most of my long positions while only keeping a little fiat on the side to hedge against more FUD and bears.

Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers

I'd like to take a moment to discuss/speculate a possible listing on Bithumb.

Here is what happened:
The Asia tour details were laid out explicitly before it began, but the Lisk team did not mention a meeting with Bithumb. During the tour, we saw tweets about them meeting with Bithumb. Now, those tweets have since been deleted.

This makes me wonder why Lisk did not announce the meeting beforehand. Perhaps it was because they were unsure about how the meeting would go in terms of coming to a listing agreement? Since the tweet was deleted, I wonder why that could be. I can't see a reason that Lisk would change their minds after being calculated with the news/tweet in the first place. Maybe Bithumb did not like the possibility of rumors before their official announcement of a listing? Maybe Lisk found out they wouldn't be listed? Maybe to avoid speculation like I am doing right now?

The goal of the tour is to bring awareness to the Asian markets and more accessibility via Bithumb would be a huge win for Lisk.

What do you guys think?

Apparently SONM has already been used to run a CS:GO server by someone outside of the SONM team, which is a pretty legitimate proof of concept imho.

it's an abandoned joke project. all the way down to 0

SONM is probably a scam

I can't take these comments seriously because the team is hiring members, committing code to github, and planning on releasing news & milestones in the near future. Do you have any evidence to back up your claims?

SONM Easy 5-10x

I want to present my speculation of why SONM will be at least a great medium term investment. I realize that the ICO didn't go as many had planned, but it now is in a very undervalued state based on the following:

1) Extremely active development on their github: https://github.com/sonm-io. I've been watching for the past couple of weeks, and the amount of code being pushed is impressive. I'd like to quickly compare it to their competitor, Elastic (holding a market cap twice as high), on their github: https://github.com/elastic-coin. The difference is pretty astounding to me. This either justifies investing in SNM, or divesting XEL.

2) Upcoming exchanges: a recent reddit thread, https://www.reddit.com/r/SONM/comments/6wdq3n/sonm_first_meeting_of_russian_community/, has testimony of someone saying they received some sort of firsthand information that SONM is in talks with a "big exchange".  Once listed on a major exchange, SONM will receive some organic exposure that it needs to grow. This post also details that the team has hired a PR and marketing team, that there will be "a couple of big news in September" (funny language there), and that SONM is targeting Asian markets.

3) Technicals: looking at the price graph since release, SONM has pretty much bottomed out. Now this isn't a guarantee for growth, but I encourage you to take a look and tell me what your reaction is. Moreover, some supercomputing competitors like Golem and Elastic have much higher market caps, which can speak to the potential room for growth.

Overall, I'm pretty bullish in the medium term. I'm not sure if SONM has what it takes to be a great investment, but I'm pretty confident it has what it takes to be a decent one for the near future.

Thoughts?

Re: [ LISK ] When to buy LISK? Any speculation?

The way I see it, there is a rebranding coming soon that will raise awareness and excitement for the project. Additionally, there's the SDK coming later this year. Even if this project is garbage, there will be hype and excitement. Besides that, I really like to see what's going on in their github and project progress pages, and I really like the vision and novelty of the project.

I'm going to buy in now at a relatively stable low point and ride the hype train. Instead of asking myself when to buy, I'm going to ask when should I hop off the train. I struggle to picture this thing not coming above $2.5 at some point, so the risk vs reward is a bit lopsided imho.

I just took a look at the github and it seems very inactive. Why have OP and some others said that there is a lot of development? Am I missing something?
