Re: Official FutureBit Apollo II/BTC Software/Image and Support thread

On the solo mining page where it shows users and workers.  I was doing some testing outside the network to see if I could get the Apollo to work as an off the internal network pool.  It did work  Cheesy

Now for the question.

How long will it show the red X and user active 0/1.  Will it timeout and go away or is there a way to reset it since I don’t want to see this every time I check the pool.  I will be adding other mining devices later but not that one.  I just want it to display what's going on now.  Would be great to just to click the x and have it go away.

Thanks

Yup.

debug.log in the bitcoin directory tells you a lot.  every restart of bitcoind will reset the log to a 10MB file size limit.  It grows as the bitcoind runs.  until the next restart of bitcoind.
this is in the nvme/bitcoin directory.  If you open a terminator window change to the /media/nvme/Bitcoin directory. you can follow the log live with the command "tail -f debug.log."  You are looking at constant data produced.  If the log is frozen you need to check the system monitor and make sure your bitcoind program is running.

There is also a log in Ckpool directory  on microsd that you can do the same to.  It shows the miner operation and data result updates.  Not as important.  It can show if the miner is frozen or not getting blockchain data.

I leave 2 terminator windows open monitoring these files realtime.

debug.log shows when you startup the bitcoind and if you can watch the nvme activity( with an activity LED on the nvme drive) you may notice the bitcoind write the chainstate, also in the system monitor file read/write activity.  Takes several minutes.  the debug.log proves the chainstate is written complete when it reports the transaction data recorded success/fail during this event.

Thank you!

Are there any logs to see from the solo pool?  Any real time logs? Any way to tweak the settings on the pool side?  Just wondering if we are flying totally blind and can't really tweak anything?  Im happy with everything just hoping there was a way to see what its doing or tweak things or workers.

quick question, for workers that are on your same internal network.  will the bitcoin wallet "." + their name work as the proper syntax?
example

3FPnZE7VuXJ9icLsnfe8490kuQP19zhuKAMf8.bitaxe

will this work with payouts?  Thats how I run it on ck pool.

Thanks

Yes that is the correct way of naming your workers.

Thanks!

I’ve got my Apollo II desktop setup and running but have an odd problem that I was wondering if everyone could put an eye one.
When I connect via Windows 11 (chrome and edge ) everything shows that it’s working but the miner.  Gives an error and shows no stats.  When I click the all info tab I can see the miners mining and fan speeds etc. I can’t get it to show that’s it’s working on the pc.
When I check pool side I see that it is hashing (ck pool as I’ve not set up my solo side on the Apollo yet)

Out of desperation I connected via my laptop on Mac OS safari and everything works fine.  Miners show all info no errors.  Tried the of again and it doesn’t work.  Refreshed pages, cleared caches, enabled Java scripts on the site, no block up or ad blockers.
Can’t figured out why everything works but the mining page and works on the Mac??
What gives

Thanks !

Sorry if this has been answered I tried to search some but this thread is so long I didn't see it.  I'm currently syncing my block chain to my node so I cant solo mine yet.  Im mining "solo" on CKPool and I see the miners working fine on the pool stats page.  On my Apollo 2 it shows nothing.  When I click on the red x more all info box I can see them hashing and fan speeds etc but on the main page it shows them not working.  I have the information in the custom pool box filled in correctly.

What do I need to try?

Thanks

Re: Avalon Nano 3 [unofficial thread]

I'm considering one (or two).  It usually gets down to -20F where I am and I need a way to heat a garage (2x S19k Pros isn't enough).  At 140W and as low as $130 USD, seems like a good idea.  Except that I am concerned about it's 'openness'.  Looks like I'm getting a very locked down device.  A literal "black box" in this case.

Is this the experience from most people?  Does it lack a web UI, is it app controlled only?  Does it phone home?
There is a web interface.  That's what I mostly use unless I just want to make a quick change...I had to use it to put the pool addresses in correctly due to the app removing my port numbers...but I have limited experince since I just got it going.  Mine are in a server room that requires a least a jacket to go into and they seem to hash a little faster than the numbers I've seen here just on medium.  Not sure I want to go to high mode but I might.  I'll probably break them down tomorrow  and shoot a thermal gun on them and see where they need some help and put some heatsinks on them.  Then I may crank it up.
Good luck

A little help with the Nano 3 please.

All hooked up and connected to my Wifi

Setup my pool etc

Display keeps showing the Please Check Internet symbol, but all is good with my system and the Nano 3 appears on my network, etc.

I cannot get it to mine on any pool.

Mining Status is Fine / Green circle but Network status is 0 ms and red circle, says no active pool or workers.

I can control the miner from the GUI and a IOS app so it is clearly connected.

Any ideas?

I had the same problem with Starlink. A quck fix is to run through a VPN

How does that work? I have the same problem
Network status is on 0ms. Can access the miner through the GUI and app. Also no active pool or workers.

Did anyone ever figure this out? Same issues.  My bitaxe miners connect fine.  I just keep getting the no WiFi icon even though I can connect locally.  Could it be pool info? My syntax entering pool information?
Any help would be great.  Pulled the trigger on four of these and starting to get a bad feeling about it.

Got it working it was the syntax with entering the pool at CK's pool.  You have to have the port "3333" in there or it's not gonna mine.  I put it in there on the app but it deleted it.  I had to go in and add that.  All is good now.  So if you stuck with no network icons check how you entered the pool addresses.

Re: Avalon Nano3 FAQ

Question I have from the unofficial thread.  I have 4 Nano 3's Im trying to setup.  Im familar with mining I have been doing it off and on since 2015.  Im now just playing around solo mining.  I have a few bitaxes that work fine with my wifi and setup.  The Nano's 3's show everything is in the green  and good to go but I get the check internet connection icon on my screen and it will not mine.  The bitaxes mine thru my wifi just fine.  Could the way I enter the mining pools into the settings effect the nano 3?   I don’t know why I can't connect to a pool.  Im not sure what else to try.  How could the connection be different over wifi vs the bitaxes?

TLDR
Get the "check internet warning" box on the screen, bitaxe wifi miners work fine.  What do try? Huh

Is the bitaxe also wifi? If not then check your router to see if it blocks mining. Seems that several do by default, if that's the case you need to tell the router to allow it to work.

Bitaxe’s are WiFi and work no issues.  Making me crazy.

Node banning internal IP "peers"
by
jdh3
on 29/08/2017, 16:27:36 UTC
My node is running thru my firewall.  Everything works fine but the one problem I'm having is all my incoming connections are getting an internal ip address.  So when a incoming connection starts miss behaving it will get banned.  Well 192.168.1.1 bans my node! Undecided  So it goes off line for 24 hours.  Is there a way to lower the ban for an hour or two? Im not always around to unban the internal ip.  Im just trying to find a workaround for the problem.  On average my node will accept incoming connections for about 8 hours before banning an internal ip address.

Im trying to find a way to fix the firewall so I can see the external ip's but I was hoping to for a temporary fix.

Thanks!

JD

edit I just see that I posted this to the wrong discussion.  Maybe a mod could move it?
