Hi All,

I just upgraded to 2.3.2 from 2.0.4 all the descriptions are blank. I didn't use any descriptions for my
transactions prior as the receiving address is enough info for me AFAIC. Is this a bug? Any Ideas on how to fix
this?

Thanks

Avalon 4.1 as far as I can determine works with P2P

I set up 2 miners pointed the to the same pool and matched (as much as possible) running time, getwork amount.
Calc'd Hashrate/Hashrate=% compared to accepted shares/accepted shares=%

#'s
Avalon hash/Sp20 hash & corresponding shares
948.38/1308.54  ~27.5% diff hashrate  3254/4494 diff accepted shares ~27.6%

Avalon has slightly higher getworks 1578 & 8 min running time lead on sp20
SP20   has 1566 getworks

margin of error is .0076%

If my math is wrong please speak up

Is anyone using the Avalon 4.1's with p2pool? I'm interested in how they perform........

Tak.

Nobody using these with p2pool?  Sad

I'm trying it now. A more thorough test would be to run 2 machines against different pools, but I only have one.
I'm going to run for 3 days n change to compare hardware errors and estimated hash rate. Hopefully P2P blocks
during this time and I can give est to actual earning results as well.

preliminary #'s

3days @ eligius DH% 0.788% DH%5m 1.028% 942.79GH av
5hrs   @ P2Pool DH% 1.075% DH%5m 0.806% 947.15GH av (p2pool current reported hashrate 1.91TH* I've seen the as low as ~200 durring this test 0% DOA)

philipma1957,

Go to Ehash site. Navigate to Downloads tab, you'll see "MM-4.1 Firmware" link once the page loads. Following that you'll be brought to an index page.
Download the mmc.mcs it should be 2~ Mb in size. You can check the MD5 as they have a hash file for verification.

Once its downloaded you just point the mm firmware updater to that file and you should be good to go.

BTW

Thanks for your awesome reviews!!

I'm wondering,  with high variance on p2pool or another somewhat smaller pool,  is it possible to actually lose money?  Like in the long run luck is irrelevant,  but what if you have really bad luck and then the difficulty goes up 30%?

In this situation do you lose money because of high variance?
Yes you can. Consequently you can also gain money. Contrary to what people will insist on, it does NOT even out in the end because difficulty keeps rising. However luck determines if you're ahead long term or behind long term in an irretrievable way. If diff did not continually rise and rose-and-fell or stayed the same it would even out.

Additionally Semaster has been tracking = amounts of ants on 3 pools from the beginning of this year https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=416933.0
TL;DR P2pool has generated more coin, but this was also when Eligius and BTCG was being block-withhold attacked.

************URGENT**********
@forrestv - This is your chance to prove to p2pool users that you actually care - I & every user here would like to see some input from you regarding this - please provide any info you can.....

BIG +1, S2's and upcoming S3's are ciritical to our success.

I'd like to start a bounty for forrestv to complete this.

I will start it with a BTC0.50 bounty offered to forrestv for a working solution for p2pool/anitminer S2 & S3 compatibility with the Ants achieving expected hashrate and shares.

Anyone is welcome to contribute to the donation address, bounty is paid to forrestv (or his designee) upon a working, distributed solution or returned in full in 30 days, I will pay return tx fees for any donation over BTC0.001, if your donation is less, consider it donated.

Edit: Any additional donations (over BTC0.001) will be returned to donation address or paid to Forrest or his designee on or before July 25th, 2014.

My hope is to pay Forrest for work done, lets make the bounty worthwhile.

@p2p improvement talk

So It sounds like after a prioritized list is made, we need donations & bounty system via reputable escrow to get some of these changes implemented. Basically a P2p consortium.

i have Iceland on my list to add a node, i'll put Middle East as next in the queue.. watch the link on my sig for future updates (currently only one node active - Amsterdam)

Thanks Raskul, Will do.

In the meantime, do a ping to http://pool.centralcavern.uk:9332 and see what you get, you may be pleasantly surprised - if your ping is under 50ms, it should be OK to mine there... however, I will search around for a VPS nearer to where you are located.  Smiley

you are welcome.

193 avg and thats probably the lowest I've seen out here!

So I had some free time and was playing with p2pool.

So here is a list of active P2Pool nodes:
http://pool.nitro.gr/pools.php

And here is a list on the map:
http://pool.nitro.gr/nodesmap.php

Data are updated every hour. At midnight a new scan occurs for new nodes and offline nodes are deleted from the database.

I know I'm no graphics artist - but hey it does the job Tongue

Very cool, I'm surprised there are no nodes in South America (and Africa), I expect as Brazil begins to see some adoption they will begin to pop up..

Murdof,

Thanks for the site its very informative. I'm currently in the M.E. and didn't know nodes were out here!

Windpath,

Your node is awesome!! I don't know about South America, but having lived in Africa for a while its sort of like
stepping back into time a bit depending on where you are. Generally speaking I don't think the infrastructure is mature enough in about 70-80% of the continent, but I did hear a radio show talking about Bitcoin after the Christmas boom. That said I would have expected South Africa to have a node or pool.

BTW to the owner of the node/p2pool in UAE pm me if you see this Cheesy

Thanks for the quick reply!! The lowest diff I can set on the page is 4 which means I'll have to ssh and try to set it manually.

I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

Luke,

I'm using BFGminer to proxy a Dragon 1T miner & it seems to be working well except for the reported speed. The miner as well as the pool are reporting roughly 1TH while BFGminer is reporting 11.xx Gh. Kinda like the decimal is
two places to far to the left ...

Was that 99xGH total or accepted?   I saw both lower total hashrate and very high rejects from dragon rentals from BetaRigs and LeaseRigs.

The P2Pool node that I was using reported between 800-1000 gh and the payouts were very similar/tad bit higher than 1t of ants running on Eligius. I'd like hear from other owners as YMMV may apply here though.

I'm new to p2pool, I hope someone here can answer this, I've been mining Bitcoin for a day on it, and:

Code:
Local rate: 171GH/s (1.6% DOA) Expected time to share: 12.6 hours
Shares: 0 total (0 orphaned, 0 dead) Efficiency: ???
Payout if a block were found NOW: 0 BTC to [redacted]

Is that normal to have 0 shares for that long? With that hash rate, how long should it take to solve a single share? My miner sees lots of accepted shares, so I don't think its a problem with the miner. The estimate said 12 hours, 12 hours ago, so I can't go by that. 2 blocks have been found by the whole p2pool since I started, so I'm worried I am getting absolutely no credit for hashing. Should I not bother with p2pool unless I have a terrahash or more?

Yeah, it can be like that - just be patient & they will come - but 171Gh isn't so much nowadays  Wink

Is anyone using Dragon 1Th on p2pool? Care to share your experiences? Thinking of getting a few if they're compatible...... Tongue

Worse than the S2's on p2pool.  You'd be lucky to get 800gh per dragon pointing it to a p2pool node. At least that's what I've experienced from rentals. So far the avoid for p2pool list for me includes: S2, dragons, and Cointerra.

The goto list for rentals/physical p2pool compatible (full hashrate) include: S1's, KNC and Spondoolies.

Haven't seen what the Rockminers (R or Box) do with p2pool yet.

I was been doing better than that with my Dragon 99Xgh or so but ended up switching that box to Eligius because of high latency to all pools and the inability to run a node at that location
