How long should it take to sync a new node? I've been running for several days and it's now slowed down to only obtaining about 2 weeks of blockchain data per day. I'm 2 years and 14 weeks behind. I have 16 active connections to the clams network.

It takes a very long time. Weeks or months, apparently due to some long-unfixed bugs in the code.

If you don't want to wait you can download a copy of the blockchain.

I've synced twice. It does work, but requires patience.

I've got the bootstrap section which I needed, and I'm tailing the debug log, looks like it'll still take 27 hours. Does that seem right? I know bitcoin takes ages; but this blockchain isn't even 1% of the size of bitcoins...

Yes, tried that first thing. Didn't help.

Thanks, finally found a working download link for the bootstrap.

Please explain.

I own 212 CaiShen which I bought in mid April.
What is meant by "exchange"?  How?

Are they worthless now?  Dev, please elaborate.
Don't just tell me you destroyed 50 euros of my money.

What is your contingency plan for those of us who missed your games here?

Hear hear!  I'm in the same boat.  This reeks of scam.  I wasted weeks of mining.  No e-mails, no communication, no nothing. Just a sudden surprise saying our coins are worthless. These devs are scammers.  Another scamcoin...

Coin-swap change is over.

I still have CAI, I have all the CAI I've mined and just caught wind of this exchange thing.  I trust the developers aren't suggesting that all the CAI I've mined are now worthless just because I don't read this particular forum everyday?! That would be insane... I committed to this coin and held all my earnings.  That would be akin to punishing people who support the currency.

Anyone know how to exchange CAI for CAIx?  Coin-swap was supposed to be able to do it but they haven't got a CAI/CAIx market...

It appears that with Scrypt-N You need to have at least same or more amount of system RAM as is on Your VGA, so If You have 2G of ram and some R9 VGA with 3G, Youll get this error with higher thread concurrency. Eg (approximates)

R9 280X w 3G video RAM + 2GB system RAM on scrypt with TC 8192:     700khs
R9 280X w 3G video RAM + 4GB system RAM on scrypt-n with TC 8192:  350khs
R9 280X w 3G video RAM + 2GB system RAM on scrypt-n with TC 8192:  Error -5: Enqueueing kernel onto command queue. (clEnqueueNDRangeKernel)
R9 280X w 3G video RAM + 2GB system RAM on scrypt-n with TC 4096:  200khs

I have 2gb of GPU ram and 6gb of system ram... so... can't imagine that's the problem.  The same card is doing 250 on windows, but 191 on linux...

On another whim, I dropped my TC and intensity way down, and I can get it start with 2 GPU-threads, but as soon as I pass 4000 TC, it gives the same error.

First thing first, add the following to the start of your batch file:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

Those would be for windows, I use linux; and I already have the same commands albeit correct for linux in all of my startup scripts.

Now, you need to understand that the number of threads you should be using is dictated by your card (not all cards can run well with 1 thread same as not all cards can run well with 2 threads) so find out which is best for your card (by finding out I mean try it out for yourself).

These rigs are rigs that I have countless hours of tweaking on normal scrypt and have determined that 2 GPU threads is by far the best.  I gain about 30% going from 1 to 2.

Quote from: Starscream

Next, the number of TC (thread-concurrency) in your settings is capped by how many threads you're using and by how much RAM you got in your system (to determine how much TC you need to set: Shaders*n+1 (this formula will give you, generally speaking, the best resaults), n can and will be any number you choose but is subject to the limits of your cards/settings, although YMMV).

Again, countless hours of tweaking on these rigs and I have identified my optimal TC, but this is adaptive n-scrypt mining so the normal rules don't necessarily apply.

Quote from: Starscream
So, for your OP, if with 1 thread you see low KH/s than you should change your TC.

If with 2 threads you still get error -5 (after adding the setx commands) than you should lower your TC. A common TC value that works well with -g 2 is 8193.

I tried 8193 on a whim, and same thing.  I really appreciate all of your help, but I think you're perhaps barking up the wrong tree.  My thoughts are that this may be an adaptive n-scrypt specific issue, or perhaps a bug in vertminer.

6 gb... Is that not enough?

Edit: Just checked. When it's up and running it's used 0.7gb, with the rest free... So, presumably it's not a RAM shortage?

Setting correct GPU-threads causes error in vertminer
by

I've tried vertminer with my HD6970 (gigabyte).  If I set gpu-threads at 1, it works at about 60% of it's anticipated hashrate (yes, n-scrypt halving taken into account) based on what the the card does under windows using the precompiled windows binary.  When I set it to gpu-threads : 2, I get

Error -5: Enqueueing kernel onto command queue. (clEnqueueNDRangeKernel)
GPU 0 failure, disabling!

Any thoughts?

Also got it compiled and all, but as soon as I put (gpu-threads : 2 )in my config, I get the following

Error -5: Enqueueing kernel onto command queue. (clEnqueueNDRangeKernel)
GPU 0 failure, disabling!

And using gpu-threads : 1 makes it run about 30% slower than it should...

System won't boot with one particular 280x plugged into system...
by

I've been troubleshooting a downed miner, and narrowed it down to one Asus R9 280x card.  Numerous systems won't boot as soon as it is plugged in.  Have tried both sides of the bios.
Will boot to DOS from a usb key.  On *nix, I can get to grub, and select an item - but then the system reboots without intervention.

atiflash -t (test rom access to card) results in PASS.

Any ideas what I can try next?
